Flarepaw widened her eyes, regarding the tom with something like fear and astonishment in her pale green gaze. He ranted at her - ranted at her! And once this little tantrum was over, he whisked right by her, threatening to expose her to Scrorchstar. Recovering quickly, she called after his retreating ebony male, her voice cutting and sharp and furious, "You! How dare you? He wasn't doing anything wrong! He was simply standing on our land! besides," she fibbed, then, "I chased him off, anyway, while you are knocked out - he won't be coming around here anymore."

Scorchstar stiffened, slowing down to a fast walk so that he too could taste the air. "You're right.." He growled, worried and anxious and fearful all at once as bounded up the last hill that led to the gorge. "I also smell.." There was no mistaking the salty, metallic odor. "Blood." As soon as he bounded up the hill, he spotted both apprentices, praise great Desert himself. There was his egotistical daughter, angrily yelling at Batpaw, who has ignoring her and walking towards the hill. There was no sign of the rogue that they'd smelled.. but Batpaw was bleeding heavily from the head and from a wound on his leg, and that concerned the nimble leader.

What sort of cat is this..? Hawkcry thought, staring at him with blood dripping down his face as the white tom lectured him like some bewildered kitten. You can't keep playing this rogue's games, Hawkcry... his inner conscious warned him. He knows you're tough, sure, but against him.. you have nothing to offer. He's too skilled and manipulative. If he wasn't such a talker, he'd be dead at your feet by now. Make him trust you enough, humor him for now... and when Waspclaw takes over and runs the Clan with you at his side, you'll kill him as one.
Sounds good to me. Hawkcry responded to the voice. He'll see how much I learn in time. The voices in his mind temporarily made him ignore the male, but when the rogue brushed against his ear with a smile on his skinny maw, Hawkcry growled lowly in warning, having nothing to say that the older male couldn't counter and use against him. So he kept his broad muzzle shut.
When the male started waltzing towards the camp again, Hawkcry bolted into action, saying gruffly, "I'll take the lead, thanks.." Work harder, Hawkcry. Gain his trust.. even if it's just a little bit. You'll need it when you and Waspclaw plot your revenge against him. He flicked his ears at Hailpaw, telling her to walk behind the rogue. "As for our names, I'd rather prefer that you tell us yours first," the dark tabby grunted, playing along and obeying the voices. "After all, we are leading you to our camp.. You are a visitor."
