The hail battered down on the ground, now as heavy as ever. Judeq lowered his ears and whined painfully, feeling the large clots of ice smash onto his body with loud cracks. The rain didn't help, either. It pelted down hard on him, way too hard for him to bear. He felt like falling to the ground right there and then, but Judeq knew he had to stay strong.
The thunder made cackle-like noises in the black sky, making the young wolf tremble with fear. He was far away from the other pack wolves, which made him even more scared. He waited for a familiar face, a tail, a scent, anything. Anything would do.
After a few minutes, which seemed like hours of numbing pain, Judeq still had no sight of a wolf. Or anything, for that matter. It seemed that everything in the forest had hidden themselves away, like this was some daily routine for them or something. But Judeq had never experienced many storms before, and whenever he had, he was always with someone else. But this time it was different. No one was there to support him now.
Jude looked around desperately, squinting his eyes to try and sheild the pieces of ice out from going into them. His breathing got faster as he stepped into a clearing. The rain was still heavy, and heavier than ever before. It was too much, Judeq couldn't stand it!
A loud crash of thunder shattered in the sky, and a white light flashed brightly before fading away. Judeq yelped in fright, holding his tail between his legs and cowering in a small brown ball of wet fur. "Eloi...Eloi my darling...Eloi..." Jude mumbled to himself, crying tears of pain and fright. He remembered his mother who had always said that the God Eloi would be there to protect him whenever he was in doubt. But the thought of his mother made him cry even more.
"ELOI!!" He screamed, lifting his head with his eyes clamped shut tight, his voice echoing around the forest like a yodeling warrior of some sort. "Ahhh!"
A tree creaked forwards, almost lunging at Judeq with it's firey branches. A strike of lightning had stabbed the tree through its trunk.
And Jude's scream hadn't helped the situation, either.
Gasping for sheer life, Judeq could do nothing but stand there with a mask of horror as the tree plummeted to the ground, falling like a mighty oak.
His eyes widened, waiting for the feeling of being slammed.
CRASH!
The tree had fallen just next to him, flaring up in a blaze of smoke and flames. Judeq yelped in terror, running away from the tree as fast as his legs could carry him.
"Daddy!!" A shrill voice called, searching around for a parent. A baby rabbit trembled with fear, crying and seemingly dying with horror.
Judeq remembered Edgar...And his small lifeless body.
No, he wouldn't see that again. Not ever.
Taking a breath of bravery, he swooped into the tree, opening his jaws and clamping them around the baby rabbit. It squirmed and screamed with terror, crying with fear.
Judeq jumped out of the tree, and dashed away. Away from the tree, away from everything. He came to the edge of the forest, and looked back at the tree before it exploded with a burst of flames, and Judeq ran for his life, breathing roughly and his face covered with ashes.
