I want to win the Celtic Teamaid!Username: Ruby-Skylark
Favorite piece of Irish history: 500 B.C. During the Iron Age in Ireland, Celtic influence in art, language and culture begins to take hold.
300 A.D. Pollen data records from the late Iron Age indicate a resurgence in human activity after a relatively stagnant period.
History is awesome, and so is Archaeology \o/Favorite thing from Irish mythology: The Adventures & The Voyages (both are equally awesome!)The adventures, or echtrae, are a group of stories of visits to the Irish Other World (which may be westward across the sea, underground, or simply invisible to mortals). The most famous, Oisin in Tir na nÓg belongs to the Fenian Cycle, but several free-standing adventures survive, including The Adventure of Conle, The Voyage of Bran mac Ferbail, and The Adventure of Lóegaire.
The voyages, or immrama, are tales of sea journeys and the wonders seen on them that may have resulted from the combination of the experiences of fishermen combined and the Other World elements that inform the adventures. Of the seven immrama mentioned in the manuscripts, only three have survived: the Voyage of Mael Dúin, the Voyage of the Uí Chorra, and the Voyage of Snedgus and Mac Riagla. The Voyage of Mael Duin is the forerunner of the later Voyage of St. Brendan.
Basically, the only thing I love the most from Irish history/mythology is the Claddagh Ring, it's beautiful, I love the design of it, I love the meaning behind it, I actually own a sterling silver ring with an emerald insert heart (my mother gave it to me for my birthday and I still wear it), so this is my genuine reason behind wanting to win such a beautiful teamaid, she reminds me of something that has special meaning to me in my heart, not just becuase it happens to be Irish <3
