List Trading (need help ^^')

Hi everyone! I'll try to make this short and to the point, but I tend to over-explain things. We'll see, I suppose cx

So, I've been on the site since 2015, and am still absolutely clueless on how to trade up and down the list. I've been lucky enough to come across some list pets during my time here, but am unable to trade up with them since...I suck, haha. I've read through this thread several times and am still rather confused, so any help would be appreciated! If someone could just put things in simple stupid people terms for me, that would be awesome? XD Here are some general questions I have about list trading:

-As far as the gaps list goes, I can't seem to figure it out. Are the pets next to each tier how much pets on that tier are worth, or is that how many more pets you need to add to the previous tier's worth in order to trade up to the next tier?

-trading onto the list with non-list pets

-adding list pet worths (for example...a grinner + rose dog = ??)

-how to differentiate between demand and actual worth

-memorizing it all?? How do you list-trading wizards do it?

hey there! I'm not the most experienced,
but I've traded lists before so I'll try to help c:

-As far as the gaps list goes, I can't seem to figure it out. Are the pets next to each tier how much pets on that tier are worth, or is that how many more pets you need to add to the previous tier's worth in order to trade up to the next tier?
Ok. So all the pets next to each other (on the same 'tier') are worth the same, but not like, "x pet is worth the same as the pet above it or below it", it's all the pets that are in a line.
For example,

They're right next to each other on the rareslist, and below them it says their names, like "blue sorbet = green sorbet", so you know they're on the same tier and equal each other. There are pets below them that they equal (the pink sorbet, the yellow sorbet, and the UR grapes) but you can tell there's not much of a space between them, and where it says there names it also has the other pets, like "blue sorbet = green sorbet = yellow sorbet = pink sorbet = UR grapes.

Of course, that's if you're using the pictured version. If you use the version on the front page with just their names, you can click on the name and see a pet, incase you need to know what the names are. If you use the regular version, all the pets with a '=' before them equal the pet before the '='. If it just goes something like:


Sunjewel = tiger dog
Moonswirl.


Then the moonswirl doesn't equal the tiger dog and the sunjewel.

Ok, now to actually answer the question.
The rareslist is set up so that rarest pet is at the very top, and the least rarest pets are at the bottom.
The pets below, say, the sorbets, they're simply worth less than the sorbets/grapes, they're not what has to be added to equal a sorbet. If that makes any sense lol.
So like on the gaps list it says:


Any Sorbet/ur grapes - UR Butterbun & Dark Leopard


They go from the pet worth the most to the pet worth the least, and right now they're on the sorbet. What comes after the sorbet (UR butter bun and Dark Leopard) is what it equals, so instead of seeing it like
"Sorbet - UR butter bun and Dark Leopard", you can see it like :


Any Sorbet/ur grapes = UR Butterbun & Dark Leopard

, instead of using a dash you use a '=', because that's what it equals.


-trading onto the list with non-list pets
The only pets you could probably use to trade on to the list are store pets and '09- '10 rares, as anything else isn't worth much. In the gaps list it states for the Advent list that


Grey Border Collie - 7-8 Mixed 09 Rares
Hyena Bun - 6-7 Mixed 09 Rares + an 09 Uncommon
Peppermint Eared - 6-7 Mixed 09 Rares



Therefore, any pet on the same 'tier' as the great border collie is worth 7-8 '09 rares, or 7-8 store pets from '13 - '15. Most of the pets that are on the september list or the mainlist are worth so many '09 rares that you probably wouldn't be able to trade that many.


-adding list pet worths (for example...a grinner + rose dog = ??)
I've found that horror's list of gaps and how much each pet is worth in '09 rares and mid Advents (mid Advents are pets from tier 5-7 on the rareslist) is very helpful, so you can be like
" Ok, a rose dog is worth x mid Advents and a grinner is worth x mid Advents, and x list pet is worth how many mid Advents the rose dog and grinner are worth together."
If you don't see a pet on there then that's because horror only lists the first pet on each tier, so if you're looking for, say, the grinners, you can go to the rareslist and see what other pets it equals, and it will have listed one of those pets instead.


-how to differentiate between demand and actual worth
Well, the list is kind of made out of both demand and rarity, but if I want to go strictly by 'rarity' I use the list, and if I want to go by 'demand' I hang around the 'is this a fair trade?' thread and the 'how much is this pet worth?' thread to see what pets are going for.
Some pets go for the same demand and rarity wise, but some they're totally different, so I'd hang around the threads above (they're found in Chickensmoothie discussion) to what each pet is going for.


-memorizing it all?? How do you list-trading wizards do it?
I don't know about everyone else, but I haven't really memorized it. Yeah, I know which list (main, Sept or Advent) each pet is on, but that's about the extent of it, so I always have another tab with the rareslist open.

This is probably just a huge pile of confusion, but I hope some things got cleared up ^_^
