There are a bunch of pets that are named Non-____ due to not having something that the rest of their litter or similar outcomes do have. For example, the Non-Balloon is the only one of its litter to not have a balloon, so it's named based on that. The Non-Tag is very similar to its sibling the Dogtag, except that obviously the Dogtag is wearing dogtags while the Non-Tag isn't, so referring to the presence or absence of the dogtags is the easiest way to identify those two dogs. :3

Using pictures of your pets as your avatar is fine - just make sure that the faces of you, your friends or your family aren't in the photo

I don't know if this has been asked before but why does the adoption number change from month to month for each type of pet? Is it because larger or smaller adoption sizes indicate different number of possibilities?

Yep! If you have, say, three outcomes, it should be pretty likely that you'll get all of them with an adoption limit of five or so, but if there are more like six outcomes, an adoption limit of five is nowhere near enough to get all of them. Generally the adoption limit is around two-three higher than the total number of outcomes, though there are some exceptions.
