Closed, maybe forever due to lack of interest.

Welcome to Eryati Plains, a place where the Mokondu Geckos live. They are believed to have been created in a supposedly abandoned labatory, where the DNA of a Maned Wolf, Water Monitor, Tokay Gecko, American Toad, and multiple snake species were mixed together. Posion trickles down the front legs from the posion glands, which they use to ward off enemies. Many of the Mokondu Geckos are brightly colored, this means they must rely on hunting at night using the heat pits on their head.

More on them will be covered in a post farther down, right now I discuss adopting.
Almost every week, maybe sooner or later, a new litter will be released. You will be given the chance to adopt a gecko. Adoption Applications will be judged on quality, not first come first serve.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

On this post you will find answers to some common questions about adopting, and about Mokondu Geckos in general.

Q: Why did you choose the name Mokondu Gecko?
A: I felt less people would have been interested if the name was Mokondu Wolves, or Eryati Wolves, because wolves are a bit way too common on the internet for their own good.The name seems to suit them, and that works for me.

Q: Are all of the colors based on snakes?
A: The majority of the scale patterns will be based on snakes, but I may use coloring from posion dart frogs, lizard species, or just random patterns.

Q: Where did the idea come from?
A: A couple months ago, I had the idea for a grey wolf, lizard, and toad hybrid. On 8/23/2011, I decided to revamp the species, and that's pretty much how they are today.

Q: How do I adopt?
A: You fill out an adoption application on a post farther down. Make sure you enter in all of the information correctly!

Q: Are they free?
A: All geckos in the adoption center are free.

Mokondu Geckos - All About The Species

A Mokondu Gecko based on the California Redsided Garter Snake.

Appearance

The Mokondu Gecko stands 35-42 inches at the shoulder, and usually weighs 45-68 pounds. Their skin is very vivid, usually mimicking various snake and lizard species. On their front legs they have posion glands. It works in a way similar to a toad's posion glands, except much stronger and deadly. Because their glands produce much more posion then they could ever use, the excess posion trickles down their legs in glowing veins, where it leaks from their claws. Their tail is similar to that of a snake's, and the back paws resemble a lizards back foot.

Habitat

The Mokondu Gecko is mostly found in Eryrati Plains, where it is very common. Some Mokondu Geckos do manage to climb the bluffs that surround the plains, however, and usually end up in remote forests and grasslands where they are usually shot.

Diet

The Mokondu Gecko's diet is mostly made up of insects such as grasshoppers and crickets, as well as the occasionally beetle or two. When insects are scarce, they resort to taking down small prey such as voles or rabbits.

Behaviour

[center]Because of their bright coloration, Mokondu Geckos are nocturnal. At night, they use their long whiskers to feel around them, and their heat pits on their head and shoulders to find prey. When raised around humans however, they can become diurnal.

After a pair of Mokondu Geckos mate, they will search for a cavern in the red soil that lines the bluffs around Eryrati Plains. Sometimes they will dig their own den, or even use abandoned badger or fox dens.
Mokondu Geckos usually give birth to 3-5 hatchlings. While they do not mate for life, sometimes a male will gather a small band of females and mate with them every year.

Resting on top of the wooden counter are various herbal ointments, as well as other natural products such as oyster halves and chokeberries.

This henna dye will add beautiful patterns to your gecko's legs, back, hindlegs and neck. One use only. (Note, these designs will not fade like in real life, and can only be removed if you ask.)

These sage leaves will increase your gecko's scenting ability by 1-3 points. One use only.

The Artist's Canvas

Next to The Apothecary Stall is The Artist's Canvas. Various pastels, water colors, and oil paints are spread over the ground next to the canvas, in a vivid rainbow of colors.

The artist can also tweak a gecko's genes, without hurting said animal. Custom can not look like a CS pet, but rather a animal, pretty design, color pallete, or whatever else you choose.

Breeding

A small section of Eryrati Plains has been fenced in to allow owners to breed their geckos. The cavern inside the pen is large enough to hold a mother and her hatchlings. After you feed your gecko some oysters from the market, you can breed it.

If breeding your gecko with another user's gecko, then you must both agree on the terms, such as permission to breed and who gets to pick first.
If breeding two of your gecko's together, then you can ignore that step.

Adoption Center

Here you can find the Mokondu Geckos currently available for adoption. These are all free to adopt.

Rules:

Credit must be given to me for the design and species.
One gecko per person per litter.
Go into detail on your application, forms will be judged on quality.
Editing forms is allowed, until judging starts.
For this round Judging will start on the 29th for each gecko, this may be extended if there aren't enough applications.

Geckos For Adoption

Kennel 1:

This beautiful female Mokondu Gecko is based on the Panther Chameleon. She is rather spunky and outgoing, and is very hyper.

Kennel 2:

This gecko, based on the Chaffinch, is a rather timid male. He isn't much of a fighter, but would do anything for someone he cares about.

Kennel 3: ADOPTED
This male gecko may seem to have a firey temper, but he is quite docile. He would make a fine companion for any willing adopter.
