.:Kabevials:.
"We Welcome You"
~Intro/Info~

A small, Fox-like dog wanders up to you, looking at you curiously, she becons you to follow her into a cave, in a small sweat voice, she nods towerds the cave wall, "Hello, my name is Essence Here You can find information on us and how we came to be, when you are finished reading, please meat me on the other side of the cave." The walks down further into the cave until you are alone with the cave wall.
The wall reads:
Kabevials are a mix of fox, ferret, and dachshund. It has the agility of a fox, and it's cunning mind. It also has the tube-like build of a ferret, but the muscular body from the dachshunds. With their upright ears, they can pick up even the smallest of sounds, making them good hunters, and being part doxie they can follow little creatures into their underground barrows and get to them quite easily. Their tiny feet make it easy for them to walk silently. They're quite the animals of stealth. They can also swim. Their ears can be above the water, along with their nose on the end of their pointed muzzles, so they can be partway hidden but aware of their surroundings. Their long, bushy tails work as a propeller, when their slender legs delicately tread water without a ripple. Since they have no predators, and they stalk prey by following them out of sight, they can be any color and survive just fine. Some are dark with natural-looking markings, while others are neon with polka dots and plaid prints. Each one is unique, not one like another.

They came from the river, under the canopy of cypress trees constantly above their head. Born with the ducks and fish, they fed off minnows & squirrels, sometimes the birds. They floated along the currents, and sunbathed on the shore with the smooth rocks. They listened to the birds chatter and the ducks honk, and watched the fish swim when they came to the shallow water. They swam in green water, with it's rocking motion and undisturbed nature. It was good there. Everything was balanced and perfect. Then the storm came. It had crashing waves and shaved the great groaning trees of their bark, whipping it around and stunning the Kabevials out of consciousness. They weren't knocked out quickly, mind you. First one was out. It sent the others into total brouhaha. They weren't accustomed to seeing each other looking lifeless and unresponding. They became so scared that as soon as the wood hit their bodies they were willing to give in to the deep sleep, without a fight. Their world was black, without life or feeling for many days and nights. Much happened when they were out. When the first one came to it gasped with sight of the damage, and just waited for the others to awaken, learning that no matter how much you poked and prodded them it wouldn't wake them. When the majority of them were awake they nudged and listened to the hearts of the others. Some didn't survive the storm. Filled with grief and anger, they quickly decided to move on and leave the dead bodies. They had to find a new home. So they walked for many days and nights. They fed themselves off of the many plants that would always surround them, sleeping in the highest branches of the tall trees to be safe from the strange predators that roamed the ground. They were cautious of all things that moved, only trusting eachother, moving quickly as not to stay in the same spot for much time. After days, weeks, maybe months, perhaps years, they found their destination. A small pond surrounded by willow trees, with their long leaves falling near the water. It was beautiful, and full of prey, with no Kabevial predators. It was a safe place. They bred and grew there, but soon realized there wasn't enough room for them all to live there. So when the strange two-legged creatures came, they gave some of their own to them, to live in a different home, a safer home. The two-legged things would pick up the ones that came forward and bring them back to their home. Not one wild Kabevial knew what happened to the Kabevials that leave, but no scent of pain or torture or death is in their wheeled transportation, and the creatures are always gentle and kind, so they trust them. They're always patient in waiting for a volunteer, and when there are none, then just leave. They don't trap a Kabevial and take it against it's wishes. They wait to take it home. They understand.
That's how we get ours.
They're happy now.
Once again.
