What are Nochounds?
Meet the current mascot - Noctus D. Rix! ;D
Noctus hounds, or Nochounds for short, are little pixel adoptables that you can put in your signature, use as a character, or whatever you'd like. :D
They are completely free, though I might offer customs or breeding, if they get at all popular. To adopt a Nochound, all you have to do is be the first to post the form for the hound you wnat. Easy, right?
Some info on the species and its creation...
Nochounds, when I first though of them, were called Komorukis, and they looked just like a Bat Nochound, but more fox-like. I decided that a wingless, dog-like creature would be far easier to draw and design, and while I was playing around with lineart on paint, Nochounds were born.
Dispite its spelling, "Nochound" is pronounced "NOCK-hound" (not "NO-chound" XD) and "Noctus" is pronounced just like its spelled - "NOCK-tuss".
The most striking difference between Nochounds and their domestic cousins is their incredible genetic diversity. Their pigmentation is unstable until they hit maturity, so depending on the hound's personality, the environment it's raised in, and its interests, its fur color and pattern, eye color, etc may change. For example, a hound that was raised with dalmatians could develop a white coat with black spots. Or a cheerful, happy-go-lucky hound might end up with bright yellow fur. Most hounds have a fairly calm temperment, so their colors are usually muted, and few have very bright coats. Once a hound reaches maturity, its fur color stops changing. They also have many possible mutations, which are visible from birth and do not change as the hound grows.
Subspecies:
There are several subspecies of Nochounds, and most of them are actually very common, due to the unstable genetics of the species. These are the subspecies that have been discovered so far...
Common Nochounds

The most common subspecies, with no odd mutations. They may, however, have floppy or half-flop ears, curled or short tails. These are considered variations of the common hound, however, and are not classified as seperate mutations.
Lynx Nochound
A shy, solitary subspecies, identified by their tufted ears and short tails.
Bat Nochound
Also quite common, these hounds have a pair of bat-like wings coming from their dewclaws, longer ears than a normal hound, and long canine teeth.
Winged Nochounds

These come in two varieties - bat-winged and bird-winged. These hounds are light enough and their wings are strong enough to fly.
Wolf Nochound
Very similar to the normal hound, but with longer fur.
Serpent Nochound
A rarer mutation that causes long, tapered ears and a snake-like tail.
Kirin Nochound
Named after the mythological creature, these rare hounds have antlers and hooves like a deer, and a short mane down their backs.
Demon Nochounds

These rare hounds resemble the mythological Hellhound, and can have sharp horns, long wiry tails, and tapered ears.
Fishtail Nochounds
G♠E♠A♠R's SilverIt seems a new subspecies has been discovered... They appear to be mostly aquatic, and have webbed paws among other adaptations to life in water. There is quite a lot of variation among this subspecies, including various fins.
