What are Gekkons? wrote:β Gekkons are a social species of dragon that somewhat resemble lizards with their splayed toes and flattened heads. They live in various tropical rainforests all over the Earth and make their dens anywhere from deep beneath the soil and leaf-litter, to under the water in rivers and lakes, and even high up in the canopies!
β They're incredibly tiny for dragons, only being about the size of a tokay gecko, but possess many of the same hoarding behaviors as their larger cousins. Wherever they create dens, they like to decorate them lavishly with different items they find about the rainforest, whether that be feathers, leaves, stones, or even human artefacts! Like dragons, they're quite intelligent despite their silly exterior, and they believe that these items bring them and their packs special benefits.

π¦ RULES π¦
1. Harassment, bullying, begging, and guilt-tripping are not allowed in any capacity. Please do not reach out to users to offer to trade for their Gekks if they haev not advertised them as being for trade. If you don't win a raffle, a competition, or some other means of getting a Gekk, there will always be more opportunities later!
2. Always be sure to credit the artists when posting off-site. You can find a list of the artists & their preferred means of credit
here.3. Do not use these lines without permission. While more lizard-like dragons are not a unique idea (dragons
are just overgrown lizards, after all), you are not allowed to use these lines! Only artists may create valid Gekks using the lineart.
4. Please do not fodder your Gekks. There isn't a real way to moderate this, but please don't enter a raffle, giveaway, or otherwise with the sole intention of selling the Gekk you get. If you don't like a Gekk you received from a giveaway, we have a
shelter in the Adoption Cave that you can donate them to!
π΅ BANS/WARNINGS π΅
Breaking any one of the rules or continuously displaying offensive, rude, or otherwise unpleasant behavior may warrant a warning or a ban.
Please keep in mind that these punishments are to keep our community a safe place, and not to strike fear or make people cautious about your actions. Moderators will act with plenty of grace and only give warnings or bans if deemed absolutely necessary by a majority of staff.
While there is no public list of warned or banned users, the following punishments will be applied:
Level I Warning
A notification that your behavior is either rule-breaking or consistently unacceptable. This is your one, and only, "free" warning. A strike will be applied to your account.
Level II Warning or Two Level I Warnings
You may receive this either for breaking a major rule or for receiving two regular warnings. You will be banned from foraging, entering giveaways and raffles, participating in events, trading your Gekks, etc. for two weeks.
Ban
You may receive this for consistently breaking the rules or regularly displaying unacceptable behavior that has not changed despite staff warning. Your Gekk will not be allowed to forage or be traded for any profit, and you may only give it to the shelter. You will have the opportunity to appeal your ban one month after the date of being banned, but if you are banned after that, then it is permanent.

What are the different item types? What do they do?
There are five main types of items: trinkets, den decor, consumables, craftables, and apparel.
Trinkets are items that can be applied to your Gekkon. These give some sort of special trait to your Gekkon that manifests in foraging (or in breeding). They're usually found through foraging, store purchases, or crafting. Only one trinket can be applied to a Gekkon at a time, and applying a new trinket destroys any trinkets previously equipped.
Den decor are items that can be applied to your own "den" (all of your Gekkons and all activities within the UMA). These might give foraging buffs, breeding buffs, discounts, or something else! Similar to trinkets, they're found through foraging, store purchases, or trading. You can have a maximum of three den decor active at a time. Applying a fourth den decor will destroy one previously-applied decor of your choosing.
Consumables are one-time use items that can serve a variety of purposes. The breeding item is a consumable, and so are tickets to order a custom Gekkon. There are consumables that can transfer your Gekkon to a new set of lines. These are found through foraging, store purchases, and crafting.
Craftables are items that are primarily used as ingredients for crafting, or to sell for gold. They're found almost exclusively through foraging, with some being rarer than others.
Apparel are wearable items that can be applied directly to your Gekkon. They're primarily acquired through crafting or store purchases. Unlike trinkets and den decor, these can be applied and removed at will. They won't be destroyed after removing them!
