❧ ❧ ❧ The catshee─or cat-sìth─are fairies, who, for the most part, travel freely between our world and theirs, taking on the forms of familiar felines. Though most have lived in the northern European isles, where the veil between the world and the fey is at its thinnest, these widespread cats have existed throughout all places and times. They reside as hermits in lonely mountain homes, as companions to each other, working in villages alongside humans. They are hunters, fighters, writers, artists. But, mostly, they are cats.

❧ ❧ ❧ These fickle creatures are most easily identified, when not maintaining their illusionary Glamour, as cats with a tendency for walking on two legs and their usefully opposable thumbs. Catshee can be the size of rabbits to the size of a medium dog. They are also shadowed by long and broad tails with featherlike fur structures, a thick tuft of longer fur on their chest. Most importantly, though, is what is always near and dear to every catshee─a Touchstone. Touchstones can be any sort of object, most commonly a plant, but occasionally manmade tools, living creatures, or more.

❧ ❧ ❧ One thing that nearly all cats share is a need to explore the wide world around them. And while it may mean different things for different cats, no matter their class or creed or, in a catshee's case, their Calling, many cats will take up that mantle, go forth, and Adventure!

Catshee activites are centered around character building and storytelling. We encourage you to build lore and stories around your catshee! Community activities such as adventuring, nesting, and certain events will have ARPG─art and writing─elements, with rewards such as character EXP and badges, as well as in-game items and customs!
❧ ❧ ❧ The lore of your catshee is up to you─they can be magical or mundane, modern or antiquated. You can take their story in whatever direction you like. We're just here to help out along the way!

❧ ❧ ❧ Personal Archiving. You must have an up-to-date post in the Personal Archives to participate in community events. This will prevent your forms being skipped.
❧ ❧ ❧ Notification of Changes. Ownership changes should be noted in the Archive Changelog within 1 week of the change.
❧ ❧ ❧ Selling/Trading Catshee. Catshee have a 30 day trade/gift cooldown. Catshee may only be traded for other catshee or offerings (custom tickets). Commissioned/paid customs may be sold, traded, or gifted freely. IRL currency sales should be taken offsite. Once you have sold, traded, or gifted a catshee, it may not be returned to you in any fashion for 90 days.
❧ ❧ ❧ Keep Your Records. Be sure to fill out all forms correctly to make searching for them easy in the future! While occasional mistakes are understandable, falsifying information (esp. for large purchases or catshee ownership) will bar you from participating in the adopts, events, nesting, or community any further.
❧ ❧ ❧ Ownership Limits. A user can own a maximum of 15 catshee. This limit is subject to (positive) change. Catshee may only nest (breed) 2 times without items or retirement.

❧ ᴅᴇꜱɪɢɴ ʀᴜʟᴇꜱ ☙

❧ ❧ ❧ Personal Use. Catshee may be used as OCs or fursonas and can be shared freely, as long as they are credited back to this thread. You are not allowed to alter or color in the original bases for any reason, except for cropping/resizing.
❧ ❧ ❧ MYOs & Transferring Catshee. You may create your own catshee off base freely. Unofficial catshee are unable to be used in community events, adventuring, nesting, etc; but can be used for character relationships/relatives, other characters in stories, etc.! If you would later like to you are free to retire an official catshee out of the species/community, however original credit must be offered to the designer.
❧ ❧ ❧ Design Flexibility. Markings and traits cannot be added to a catshee. However, feel free to give or commission your cats outfits, accessories, scars, body paint (within reason) or tattoos (hairless or partially hairless only), though only official artists may edit the actual base. Your catshee's individual lore is entirely up to you, and they be as magical or mundane as you like! Species-changing your catshee is ok.

❧ ❧ ❧ Thread-Specific Rules. Threads (such as the Nesting Boxes, the Wayward, Adventuring, and the Flea Market) will have their own set of rules present on their front page. Be sure to give them a read before participating! Remember, participation in these threads (with exception of the Archives) is completely optional.

❧ ❧ When a catshee matures, they find through a venture of self-discovery an object known as a Touchstone, a typically-mundane thing that the fairy cats have linked to their very being. Touchstones ground them, both in body and mind, to the world around them. While Touchstones─often leaves or small trinkets or small animals─will not die or decay naturally, they can be lost or destroyed. Without these objects a catshee can lose their sense of self, so they do their utmost to keep their Touchstone safe.

❧ ❧ A Calling is not a catshee's job─it is their way of life. It is how they find food and a warm bed for themselves, how they make friends and family. Catshee take up all sorts of Callings, from mundane to adventurous; some catshee desire most the life of a common cat, curling up by fires and stalking prey through a forest or urban jungle. Some are leaders and nobles, while others are common farmers or workers. Some catshee prefer more explorative lives, as wizards or combatants or traveling musicians. And some... well, some just ran off with your wallet.

❧ ❧ When adopting a catshee, you will choose its Calling. Callings can be changed, but it is not cheap or easy to do so (an item must be obtained through Adventuring or in-game currency), so choose wisely. Callings do also affect Adventure outcomes, though all Callings can obtain (for the most part) the same items as every other Calling.

You can help one of these catshee find their path, and, in all good hope,
go on many more adventures in the future with them!

In addition, a Stranger without a Band is always available for
adoption between Sunday and Wednesday every week at the
Wayward Willow. There are also sometimes Discord giveaways
for a Stranger between Wednesday and Saturday!

❧ Check the requirements. Some Bands may only be available to non-owners, or to users with fewer than a certain amount of catshee. All adoptions require an up-to-date post in the Personal Archive!
❧ Choose your catshee. You may try out for as many catshee as you like per Band, but you can only win one from each.
❧ Choose their Calling. Decide what you would like your cat's Calling to be. While this can be changed later on, it isn't cheap or easy, so choose carefully!
❧ Fill out the adoptable form. Each Band will have its own form, potentially with its own type of competition. Some catshee may be raffles, while others may have competitions attached! (But no catshee will EVER be FCFS!)
❧ Make sure you fill out all parts of the form. so your entry isn't skipped!


Note: To promote trying out for the catshee you want the most, raffled catshee will provide 2x tickets to everyone’s top preference catshee. Your preference will also be taken into account when judging.
