It has taken Mother Earth so long to revive after the humans walked its soil. The disease and destruction caused by Nuclear warfare was too much for many species to burden. However, life did not cease to exist.

As the planet worked to put itself back together, so too did living creatures. It would require much change and evolution to bring peace back to Earthly grounds, but little by little, the trees have begun to grow - animals, bugs, and sea life would adapt and survive too.

The world is not the same as the humans remember it... but it is strong now, and getting stronger every day.

Foxes of Fig Forest is just one of the adapted species to have evolved. The nuclear radiation and fallout caused many changes with Vulpes vulpes.

These Foxes survive on one of the largest forests to have populated Earth - the Fig Forest. The fruit from these trees is the main source of food for their large colony, the trunks serve as homes and places to rear young, the branches help guide the foxes to the extended periods of night.

Like all surviving creatures on Earth, Foxes - too - have adapted. By becoming smarter, larger, and living in a colony - the foxes have overcome the harshest enemies, and climate, along the way.

Foxes of Fig Forest harbor in the largest Fig tree hollow that grows in a valley of two mountains. Their colonies consist of specialized duties, young, non-specialized,and retired foxes. Specialized foxes are gifted with protecting their kin by means of guidance, gatherers, and guardians. When a specialized fox is granted a duty, they are equipped with tools to aid them such as custom armor for guardians, bells and lanterns for guides, and satchels or bags for gatherers. Non-specialized foxes take care of the young and elderly, as well as keep the colony in top shape.

Because of the adaptation that took place, foxes are no longer only "natural" colors. Though natural coat colors still make up around 70% of all foxes, there are many that have incredible markings to help them blend with the new Earth.
Their tails and ears have variations as well. The current common fox heritage consists of bob, medium, and large tails. Their ears are large, upright, or laid back. However, mutations in their genes are sure to persist and soon, there may be many more differences.

Foxes mate once per solar year. This is to ensure the health of their kits mentally and physically is in top-notch so they may survive the harsh Earth into adulthood. A mother fox most commonly has three kits, who will spend their childhood in the Nursery Hollow until one year of age.

Here, they will be taught the ways of the Fig Forest Foxes and protected by Hollow mothers - appointed non-specialized females of the colony. Once kits reach six months of age, they are chosen for specialized roles - if fate may have them. From there, the kits will apprentice a specialized fox to strengthen their skills. After one year, kits become full-fledged adults and will then receive their tools.

Foxes must be adults to mate/breed.

The world is vast, and there are many creatures who aim to harm the Foxes of Fig Forest. As creatures adapted, some mutations became corrupt. From insects that have grown to be the size of a housecat, to deer who are now entangled in a body of "antlers", the Foxes must protect their colony.

Guardians are foxes with exceptional agility, strength, and wit. These foxes are tasked with protecting the Fig Forest and its inhabitants - mainly foxes at this time. They must ward off any dangerous creatures trying to penetrate the safety of the Fig Forest and the Fig Hollow. They must have the bravery to defend and protect their colony and the trees that provide them with life.

Guardians are given custom armor forged from high up the Fig Mountains. Most are bronze - as copper and tin are common finds post-human era thanks to their litter among the Earth. However, if a fox finds a specific metal/s they would like for their armor, they may retrieve the metal and make a request to the forge masters.

Foxes in the guardian guild do not venture alone. They will only leave the hollow in groups of six or more. As a tight-knit colony, no fox is left to defend their home alone. Carefully planned quests are decided upon before any action is taken, and 2/3 of the colony must agree to defense plans before they are carried out.

Due to human warfare, the solar system has been knocked out of balance. Nights are longer and darker - with the nocturnal phase lasting up to six consecutive days in winter, and three days in the summer. The solar phase in the winter is three consecutive days, and in summer is four consecutive days.

This being said, Guidance is needed during lunar phases, to help keep not only the colony safe, but other specialized foxes safe as well.

Decorated with bells or a custom bioluminescent lantern, guidance foxes are the swiftest, agile foxes. They are keen in meteorology, and navigation. Guidance foxes have the strongest intuition of the colony.

Guidance foxes are deployed in pairs of two when accompanying guardians or gatherers, and groups of three when guiding non-specialized foxes. They also serve as scouts for the colony and do so in teams of five where they navigate the forests to spot potential changes or danger and report back to the Fig Hollow so that a plan can be made as quickly as possible.

Evolution has been kind to the foxes. The forest where they reside provides them with plentiful fruit high amongst the branches. Figs are the main source of nutrients and must be collected by talented foxes.

Gatherers are cunning, resilient, and have a high endurance. These foxes are avid climbers and leapers - needed to reach the tips of large branches to gather Figs for the colony. They have an incredible sense of smell and can sniff their way to ripe Figs - but their nose is wonderful for many more things as well.

Body satchels, pouches, and baskets are made for Gatherers to safely store the fruit they find. All tools have a cover, as the journey up the fig trees is a tall one. Guidance foxes must have wonderful memory to know which trees produce the most fruit, and which have already been harvested.

Gatherers will begin their expedition in groups of four and will often times be out for extended periods of time. It may take days to travel the forest to gather enough figs for the colony - so many groups will rotate expeditions. Gatherer foxes are responsible for maintaining the river and are respected as the main reason the Fig Hollow has water. Additionally, Gatherers can sniff out herbal medicine and fertilizers. Many gatherers act as shamans or nurses when they are not on an expedition.
