i chose this story as i get to take a little from my japanese side and a little of my malaysian side c:

"So, you wish to win my favour?" The princess Shoshone asked, all three of her suitors sitting before her. Each one, of course nodded. Shoshone smiled sweetly, "Excellent." She looked to them all individually before replying again, "There is only one thing I must ask of all of you, a favour if you will."

Each one nodded enthusiastically and so Shoshone continued, "The favour I ask of you three is quite simple. There is a creature I seek but I cannot myself venture for, being the princess that I am. It's called the... the Farlorn-ed. The Farlorned."

"The Farlorned?" A suitor asked, "I have not heard of it?"

"Yes it is an extremely rare creature you see... With the body of a rabbit, the bill of a duck, the ears of a donkey and the tail of a... a cat!" She exclaimed, managing her way through it.

"W-what?" Another suitor mumbled, worried about the difficult task.

"Yes, which ever one of you can bring me this Farlorned creature first will win my favor and my hand. Remember, the body of a rabbit, bill of a duck, ears of a donkey and tail of a cow." She smiled smugley. Her chambermaid beside her cleared her throat, "Cat ma'am..." She whispered. "Cat!" Shoshone exclaimed, "Tail of a cat."

Shoshone looked upon her suitors now, all three's faces completely pale with the task at hand. She smiled "Well, off you go. First to return will win. You all have one month. Good luck."

All the suits rushed out of the great hall as the princess took her seat on the throne again with a relieved sigh. Her chambermaid glared to her. Shoshone laughed, "What?" "This is an awfully difficult task ma'am..." Her chambermaid declared. "I know," Shoshone chuckled, "That should keep them busy."

Allebri was a beautiful princess. All the subjects of this kingdom were happy to hear of an heir. She gave the kingdom hope for a better future. Her parents wanted to find her a prince or princess for her to marry, but Allebri was never quite satisfied with them, or more so herself.

Allebri lived her whole life in the sheltered castle life. She didn't have a care in the world, let alone any problems. She had everything she wanted, or so she thought. She was an only child, and was never allowed any friends. He parents told her she didn't need friends, her friends were her servants,maids and butlers. So she lived most of her life alone, within the castle walls, with no freedom. She was dissatisfied with her life, it was so mundane.

It wasn't until her late teens when she started to realize something was wrong. One day, she decided she had enough of being cooped up, so she snuck out one night. She had been creating a whole in her wall for months now, and since no one but her personal servant and her parents were allowed in her room, she could hide it pretty easily behind a bookshelf in her room.

She left her home and went to see the kingdom. What she saw was a lifeless bleak world. No wonder her parents didn't want her to see this. It was an awful sight.

one wish, a single dream. all that she desires seems so frivolous, yet it’s just another impossible desire of hers: she wishes to bring down the heavens to earth, so that she can dance with the stars and sing with the sky. she wants to hold the world in her hands, for everyone to know and love her name, for she is envious of the sun, and of all the love and attention it gets.

like every child, leya was introduced to the world of gods and goddesses through bedtime stories and folktales she holds dear in her heart. she’s grown up with tales of great beings who control the flow of the earth and are revered for it. has grown up listening to how loved and worshipped these gods were.

and she has grown up envious of them all, for at the end of the day she knows she will never be like them. she will never control the rolling of the tides, will never change the seasons of the earth, will never be as loved as the one who warms the earth. she cannot have the sun, and she cannot have the love of everyone.

so her selfish desire; she wishes to be like those great gods. she wishes to become the one who holds the sun in the palm of her hands. for if she does, then perhaps she will be remembered and loved as well. she wishes for the stars to dance and spin around her, wishes for the wind to sing for her, wishes for the world to see her, see her name, and love her through endless times.

she does not want to be forgotten; she wants to be known for all eternity, immortalized as one of those great beings of old folklore.

“surely you know how foolish this endeavor is, leya.” the girl in question only quirks a brow at her advisor.

“foolish it may be, but i’ve never claimed myself to be someone who doesn’t dream. and dream i shall; just this one, let me have this.” leya responds, sighs softly. she’s tired of this.

“if i am to be given away, then at least let me be remembered as someone who had some importance. someone who was more than just a pawn of her family name.” at these words, she clenches her hand. there’s bitterness in her words.

“even a speck of the sun’s light is enough; we shall be wed once i’ve received it.” her advisor bows, but leya turns away. it’s suffocating.

“as you wish, lady ravdigr...” the door shuts quietly, but she doesn’t hear it. instead, she stares longingly outside.

“perhaps, if i hold the sun’s light in my hands, the world will look at me. if the gods are truly as kind as the legends… then perhaps one day someone will look at me and finally see who i truly am. they will look past the sun and the stars in my hands, and see me.”
