➛ Breedings may only be done if a Bioluminescent Cluster is used. (You can pick one of these up from the store!)
➛ A typical breeding will usually result in 2 Chi eggs however In rare occasions, a third Chi egg can also be produced. The user who spent the glowshroom will be given first pick of the Chi litter. The other user will then receive the remaining Chi, or if there was a third Chi, they will be given the choice between the two. The remaining egg will then be placed for adoption.
➛ Forms must be filled out correctly and be "approved" in order for the breeding to take place.
➛ A Chi can be bred as soon as it has reached adulthood.
➛ Please allow several days for a breeding to be successful (aka Artists completing the art.)
---

➛ A trading form must be filled out by all parties participating in the trade.
➛ Each member completing a trade must provide a Lagoon Essence item in order for the trade to be effective.
➛ All trades are final and once approved, cannot be reversed except when both parties consent once again and are willing to expend another Lagoon Essence item each.
➛ Three-way trades are allowed; (Example: Person A trades for Person B's Chi, Person B trades for Person C's Chi, and Person C trades for Person A's chi.)
➛ Trading exploration items is currently not allowed.

Discovered recently, Chi are a unique form of winged caterpillar whose population have seen a great increase in recent years. Scientists have been mystified with Chi, believing them to be a genetic mutation of a butterfly yet different enough to be considered into a separate category. Most notably, it appears that this particular specie doesn't progress beyond the larva stage in terms of body yet is able to exhibit a beautiful, glass-like wing form that is thicker, yet more malleable than a normal butterfly's wings.Featured Chi wrote:

Chi are very loveable creatures and have a deep affinity for humans. It was noted by a recent owner that their Chi often resembles a domesticated dog in that it quickly became a "best friend" of sorts and always want to be their side. Chi are not only great after they've been adopted, they also have an unusually advanced natural set of instincts that have helped them flourish while in the wild. For example, they are deeply wary of other insects and animals, even those much smaller than themselves and thus tend to travel in packs to protect each other. Their natural smell and hunting ability is also quite extraordinary, and they are able to sense potential food sources from miles away. Although the lifespan of a Chi is relatively unknown, it has been noted that Chi tend to live unusually long lives, especially compared to other insects.
As the Chi population further explodes, Scientists are encouraging interested parties to potentially adopt one of their own to further assist with the study effort. Already much has been discovered and subsequently many people are coming forward eagerly looking to adopt their own fluffy caterpillar. It will be interesting to see what study advances will be made in the coming years.

The Chi eggs are made out of a type of quartz crystal unique to their breed. The eggs reflect light and when placed in direct sunlight, will radiate various colors like a prism. The colour of each litter depends on the colouration of the parents, but is also influenced by maternal and paternal diet. On average, 3-5 eggs are laid at a time. Eggs are laid anywhere, though usually they can be found near a source of water so that hatched chi have protection and other basic necessities when they enter the world. Chi typically hatch from their eggs immediately upon adoption as the young caterpillar inside senses an environmental disruption. Newly laid eggs are very small and are only about half a centimeter in length but they grow bigger as they age, often reaching a peak length of 5-10 inches. (Obviously, this varies depending on how big the Chi inside has grown.) The eggs emit a faint glow right before hatching and when the egg breaks open, the crystal shell shatters, disintegrates into dust, and is easily dispersed by the breeze.

The Chi are hatched full-grown and do not grow anymore once they emerge from their eggs. A full-grown Chi is usually 5-10 inches long, though they can vary in size. The Chi diets depend on the location where they were born. Most will usually consume the leaves and fruits native to their birthplace. In recent years, the knowledge of a typical Chi diet has been expanding as wider studies are conducted and it has been observed that some Chi consume roots and flowers too. Most Chi will stay near their birthsite once hatched, with an occasional few choosing to migrate to a different habitat. Chi make no sound but instead uses their two antennae to communicate. When the chi are happy and healthy, their antennae emit a faint glow. When the chi are feeling down or malnourished, their antennae grow dark.

The Nursery is a serene habitat where new Chi eggs can be studied or placed for adoption. Mimicking the natural setting of where Chi eggs are normally laid and incubated, scientists favor this area above anywhere else as it gives them the most direct access to a Chi's growth cycle. Newly laid eggs are placed in a shallow pool where the temperature-controlled water can absorb all foreign sounds of the outside world in order to give sleeping Chi the best chance of long-term growth and survival. Once hatched, Chi are given optimal nutrition, studied for a short period of time, and then released into the wild.
With the recent population explosion, the nursery can easily become overwhelmed. When there are too many eggs in the nursery, a litter will be placed up for adoption for the general public to apply for. More eggs are given out in the nursery than any other adoption venue, so it's no wonder that it has become quite the bustling place as interest in Chi have exponentially increased in recent years. If you're interested in potentially adopting your own Chi, make sure you watch this post for announcements on the next available litter! Please read the adoption rules before continuing.

➛ You are only allowed to fill out a form for one egg from each litter
➛ There is no limit to how frequently you can adopt from the nursery, however you are not guaranteed to win the egg you apply for
➛ Each adoption round will have different rules for entry (fcfs, riddles, etc)
➛ Eggs will hatch immediately upon adoption
➛ Forms must include the codeword otherwise they will not be counted
➛ Edited forms during fcfs rounds will be disqualified

A soft breeze ripples through your hair as you suddenly stop and take in the stillness of the environment around you. There is no other person in sight and you feel as though you are an imposter who has just disrupted the quiet flow of the timeless ecoystem before you. The air seems sweeter here and you become almost entranced by the sheer serenity of nature in its perfect form. A crystal-clear, turquoise lagoon stretches for miles into the horizon and just before it spans a strip of soft and nearly translucent sand. Half-way burrowed into the sand lay an array of colorful eggs that are unlike any you've ever seen. Welcome to the Lagoon! Home to unique kinds of Chi, this habitat provides new owners with a chance to adopt a rarer and more diverse selection of caterpillars.
When there are too many eggs in the lagoon, one will be placed up for adoption to all visitors! The rules for adoption will be different for each opening and they will be specified here in this post. Eggs hatch immediately after adoption as the baby Chi senses a disruption in their environment, signaling them to exit their eggs. Unfortunately, as adoptions will be less frequent than those in the nursery, it will be more difficult for those to snag a Chi if they choose to adopt through the Lagoon. We wish you the best of luck as you consider adopting and we hope
you are able to receive a Chi!

Bring your Chi along and explore the land around the sanctuary and you might be rewarded with special gifts! Every so often, it will be announced in the thread that exploring has opened up. Spots are limited so if you see it, grab your shroom shovels and plant clippers and be sure to fill out the form quickly and correctly so you don't miss out! Forms that are not filled out correctly or that are edited in any fashion will be disqualified. Exploration rounds are usually left open for 10-15 minutes at a time to give many players an ample shot at participating.
If your adventure is successful, you will return with some of the items above! In extremely rare cases, you might even find yourself a chi egg which you can then adopt. Your goal is to collect as many of each of these items as you can for once you've collected a certain number, they can be traded in for goods from the store! It may be a slow-going process at times but exploring provides a free alternative to buying items.
Exploring is currently: CLOSED!
