Kirlin are a mythical race of unicorns that prefer to not be seen by mortal eyes. These majestic creatures are, however, fiercely loyal to the few that they allow to see their true form.

Kirlin breeding is heavily(and I mean heavily) based off of the genetic of Pony Island, a game I really like. Because of the recent events, I have been left with a lot of time on my hands and so, to give myself a creative endeavor, spent a really long time creating my own little breedable adopts. Eventually I plan on introducing new genetics and possibly even tattoos, items and new species of Kirlin for people to breed and enjoy!

+ pre-made kirlin are completely free and are given away in raffles fairly randomly, but often
+ first ten people to post the correctly filled out raffle form for a new batch will be included in the raffle
+ the first five people to post a correctly filled out pound form for a specific kirlin will be put into a raffle for it
+ if after two weeks, five people have not posted for a kirlin, the adoption will close and the raffle will begin
+ if after two weeks no one posts for a kirlin in the pound, it will go to a special retirement home in the archives

Kirlin genetics are basically a simplified version
of Pony Island genetics, so if you play, you might not
need to read too heavily into this. All Kirlin will have
6 different colors, an eye color, body color, primary
hair color, secondary hair color, primary extra color,
and secondary extra color. Not all of these colors are
visible on every Kirlin, it depends on the genes they have!
An offspring's colors will be any color between the
parents and the parents colors. Example: breeding two Kirlin
with a body color of #ffffff will result in offspring who
only have a body color of #ffffff. Use this link to test what
colors potential offspring could be.

There are currently three different categories of
genes; hair, leg, and body. A Kirlin can only
have one trait from a category at a time. For example,
the Appaloosa trait and the Koi trait are both body genes,
so a Kirlin can only have one or the other. However,
the Qstripes trait is a hair gene, and thus a Kirlin
can inherit both that and, say, the Appaloosa trait.
Kirlin can also only inherit visible genes from parents,
there is currently no system for hidden genes,
though that could change in the future.

Kirlin are not guaranteed to inherit a trait
from either of their parents, there is always a chance
of them getting no visible trait in a category that
either one or both parents have a trait in. Now, genes
themselves can be dominant and recessive
(see gene list bellow) but a baby can still get a recessive
gene, it is just a much, much lower chance. An offspring,
however, can only inherit up to one trait from one parent.
The odds of a baby inheriting a gene go like this:


both parents have the same gene: 75% chance
parents have two different genes: 50% chance (D) 25% chance (R)
only one parent has a gene: 50% chance for the trait


The final trait to keep in mind when breeding is the reverse colorization
gene. There are two of them; reverse leg colorization and reverse body
colorization. It is a completely separate gene that can only be
inherited by an offspring if they are also inheriting a gene in either
the leg or body category. Reverse colorization just means that the
extra colors on a Kirlin swap, which can create some interesting looks.
Odds of an offspring getting the gene:


if both parents have it: 50% chance
if one parent has it: 25% chance
if neither of the parents have it: 2%


*** There is a tiny, 1% chance that a Kirlin offspring can
mutate a completely new gene, which in certain even
rarer cases, can spawn a three trait Kirlin, which is the
rarest kind.

[ 𝔹𝕣𝕖𝕖𝕕𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝔾𝕦𝕚𝕕𝕖 ]

To start with, a Kirlin can have one of six
different personally types randomly, no matter
their parents personalities either. The personalities
are Shy, Nervous, Outgoing, Aloof, Playful,
and Affectionate. While Kirlin typically only
have one foal, depending on the personality
pairing of the breeding pair, there is a small
chance your Kirlin could have two foals! These
personality pairings give a whopping 10% chance
at two foals:


Shy x Aloof
Nervous x Affectionate
Outgoing x Playful


While these pairings are incompatible and will
only ever result in one foal, no matter what:


Outgoing x Nervous
Shy x Affectionate
Aloof x Playful


All other personality pairings give a 5% chance
towards two foals. Personalities have no other
affects on Kirlin otherwise aside from the
possibility of twins. Kirlin also cannot breed
with another Kirlin who has any sort of blood
relation to them.
