Skelerex Hounds began appearing after a fault-line running through a graveyard gave way to a large crevice in the ground. Originally the beasts emerging from the depths overnight were considered Hellish and fearsome, and some even thought they brought about the start of the end, leading many to be killed off. Fortunately, the Skelerex Hound Sanctuary began collecting newly emerged SHs and discovered that the beasts were quite docile and tame, even with their dead appearances. They act like normal dogs yet lack the needs to consume substances to live--they are undead, in a way.

After years of breeding and research, several things are know about Skelerex Hound appearances. Their eyes can be any and all colors, and their skulls have a random pattern on them that matches the colors of their eyes, though in either a darker or lighter shade. This pattern is thought to be genetic, for littermates have the same pattern as each other. However, parents can have colors and patterns vastly different from their offspring. In Hounds that were blind, there was a lack of pattern on the skull no matter what color eye they had.

Starting in January 2016, the Skelerex Hound Santuary, SHS, opened its doors to the public for the first time to allow for the adoption of their rescues. It's been quite an amount of times since their first emergence, and the controversial nature of the canines has led many to acquire one.

• No Stealing

Don't take a Skelerex Hound (SH) that's not listed in the archive
as yours. It's rude and, well, against the CS rules as well to
steal art that's not yours or given to you.

• Be Patient

We all have lives, even the artist and admin of this adoption
thread. Please don't post here or message continuously asking
when the next litter will come out. It is very likely that the
litters will come out monthly or bi-monthly.

• Litter Vs. Breeding Nest Adoptions

Litters will be publicly raffled off to those entering forms whereas
the bred litters will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis as
long as the adopter pays the adoption fee within 24 hours of
posting their adoption form.

• First Come, First Serve Policy on Nest Adoptions

The first person to post an adoption form has priority over
buying the SH in the litter. If they have inadequate
payment, SH will be held for 24 hours, then it will go to
the next player who submitted a form.

• Do Not Ask To Become Staff

If I want help, I'll post application forms for artists/guest artists,
or for additional staff. Otherwise, please do not ask to become
part of the staff.

• No Spamming

No one word posts, and keep arguments off this thread. This isn't a
roleplay, my sweets; it's a SH adoption agency.

• You May Own Maximum 7 Skelerex Hounds At Once

This includes breeding and customs. If you have six and wish to
purchase another SH, you must give up one of your current
SHs to the shelter in order to purchase another one.

• For CS Use Only

Please do not take any SH off-site. Feel free, however, to post
SHs anywhere on CS, and even use them as your icon if you crop them
to fit the 100x100 px limit on CS Avatars.

Adoptions from the nests will be completed raffle style, with the end date being 11:59 PM EST on the seventh day after the liter has been posted. The official date will be shown to limit confusion and help users figure out the date the raffle entries close.
Extra tickets may be earned by filling out optional additions such as personality, history, etc. Likes and dislikes are counted if you have 5+ for each. Theme songs must have an explanation of why they fit. I will re-check for additional fields before drawing winners.

While this looks scary, you are not required to learn these genetics in order to get a Skelerex Hound of your own. I feel as though this system will make breeding SHs more interactive for a community of people that have background in dominant and recessive traits. There are, however, several traits that are not revealed to the public, which makes it a fun game for me. Everyone's SH will have an ID#, and each Hound's full genetic code will be stored on a Word Document for me to access and review when breedings happen. These genes include:

Albinism
OO, Oo = Normal Coloration
oo = Albinism Present

Erythrism
PP, Pp = Normal Coloration
pp = Erythrism Present

Melanism
QQ, Qq = Normal Coloration
qq = Melanism Present

Deafness
RR, Rr = Normal Hearing
rr = Deaf

Blindness
SS, Ss = Normal Vision
ss = Blind

And many other undiscovered mutations. Most of these undiscovered ones are rolled for on a 1-in-250 chance of spawning a new mutation. That is, I use a random number generator to pick a number out of 250, and if it lands on 1 I will give your SH an unseen before mutation.

From time to time, owners decide to breed their SHs to produce lovely puppies that they either keep or adopt out to other users in the community. If there is only one owner, they may take 0-2 of the pups from the litter, yet if there are two owners involved, each may take only 0-1 of the pups from the litter. If two owners want the same SH puppy, I would advise discussing in PMs who will receive the pup.

Additionally, if a single owner breeds a litter, they are eligible to sell the puppies within the litter for their own price between $0 and $500. Owners must PM me the price of each SH puppy as soon as possible, and each can be a different price.

Inbreeding within three generations is not allowed and will be checked for prior to a breeding. A SH's genetic's chart will be located on it's section of the archive.

Question: Why is the nest count zero even if all SHs have been bred and their litters cleared out?

It takes time to clean out the cages and prepare the breeding rooms for more SHs, not to mention get the supplies needed for caring for them and their kits after birthing occurs. Please expect breeding nests to open every two weeks after all kits have been adopted or moved to the shelter area of the center.

You can see that a college student is a bit busy figuring the proper ratios right now, scribbling furiously with purple and green ink in a notebook and figuring out the fairest prices.

Skelerex Add-ons are up front, and more expensive items are towards the back.

Here at the grooming parlor, your Skelerex hounds can be "re-colored" using the latest in animal-safe fur dyes manufactured to-date. In order to recolor your SH, he or she must have some white on them to be recolored. Our dyes do not show up well on non-white fur.

The Grooming Parlor is currently OPEN for recoloring requests.
