Betta Buddies is an adopting center of a tiny species of Betta Splendens, a specific breed of fish also known as "Siamese Fighting Fish". Betta Buddies come from an area in Thailand that produces rice, which grows in the water where the bettas live. Our artists often go to catch these little guys and breed them to make the pets we sell here! Don't worry, the bettas that are caught are put in large tanks with plenty of space, heat, and food to live. They love it here! So, would you like one of your own? There are many types to choose from, from double-tails to half-moons. So what are you waiting for? Dive on in!

This is Ava, our mascot. She often helps comfort the newly caught and the sick here, and loves helping with breedings!

Betta Buddies are a tiny sub-species of the regular 2-inch+ Betta Splendens you see at the pet store.

Full grown Betta Buddies are just under 1.27 millimeters tall, and females lay eggs.
Males protect the "bubble nest" the eggs are in until the babies are old enough to defend themselves.
There is no visible difference between male and female Betta Buddies, so when adopting, a gender sign above the Betta will alert you what gender that Betta Buddy is.
Betta Buddies have up to 4 eggs naturally, but if given the correct item, will have more or less.

Betta Buddies breathe both air and have gills, and often need to surface to breathe every couple hours.

Unlike their relatives, Betta Buddies enjoy sharing a tank with another Betta of the same gender, and can get lonely if left alone for too long. They also enjoy other aquatic animals and humans around.

Veil-Tail (VT) Betta Buddies are the most common species of Betta Buddies. Any color can be found on them, and many patterns are available.


Plakat (PK) Bettta Buddies are a bit more uncommon, and are known for their more rounded tails.


Half-Moon (HM) Betta Buddies are a rare form of Betta Buddy. Their tails go approximately 180 degrees and are shaped like half of a moon. Half-Moons often have trouble swimming and can die from drowning when they are unable to swim to the surface to breathe. Luckily, too-large-to-swim Half-Moon tails are not hereditary!


Lastly is the Double-Tail (DT) Betta Buddies are the least common of the species, and are very difficult to attain. Their angelfish-like fins are completely coincidence. Scientists are almost positive they aren't related to angelfish...

1. You may only try to adopt one betta per litter released per day. (Ex. If one day there were two litter 1's, you can only adopt one, but if there was a litter 1 and a litter 2, you could have one per litter)

3. This is NOT a first-come first-serve adoption center! You can try out for any one you like, but all forms will be put in a raffle-like form and winners will be decided by random.org.
4. Please do not complain if the betta that you wanted wasn't won by you.
5. If you no longer want your pet, let me know, and I'll make a "Pound Litter" for others to adopt.

If you have two fish of opposing genders that you think would make the perfect babies, great! That's all you need (besides some seashells from the bank) to get started! Remember, only opposing genders can breed, and it takes at least an hour for the babies to grow up! And make sure you have enough space too, it is likely the babies will die if kept all together in a small tank.

What you need:
1. A couple of Betta Buddies you want to breed.
2. Enough tanks to fit the amount of babies your pair will have. (If you don't have enough, some babies will go to a pound litter.)
3. A love stone to make the pair breed. (Can be bought at the shop!)
