This is Tír na gCapall Beag, the Land of Little Horses. This area is well known for its mountains and its population of feral ponies. The potential for these little horses as companions and competition ponies is only just being recognised. Please stay awhile, and possibly adopt one of our ponies. We are currently closed for an indefinite period of time, but we may return in the future.

General rules

Please do not ask to adopt a horse which is already owned.
Do not post on topics irrelevant to this thread.
Show kindness and respect all the users who post on the thread. If an issue arises for any reason, please contact me.
Please do not whine or complain if you do not receive the little horse which you desire. Don't worry, there'll be more in the future!

Art rules

Please do not crop any horse's image, add text/photos/drawings to a horse's image, heavily reference from a horse's image or otherwise alter any horse's image. You cannot request others to do so either.
I will resize your horse's image on request, but I will make no other changes, apart from adding any items which you have purchase in the Town and wish to use.
Please do not claim any of my art as your own.
Do not repost the art offsite without my permission - this includes all websites without exception.
Feel free to make your own, original art of your little horse!

Adoption rules

You can only adopt one little horse from each weekly group.
You have to fill out the adoption form in full to adopt a little horse.
Adoptions are on a first come, first served basis unless otherwise specified.

Breeding rules

Without the use of items, it is only possible to breed a pony once per season.
Breeding your own horses is free, unless you chose to use items. Breeding to a public stud will cost you a fee, in addition to any items which you may wish to purchase.
You cannot breed to other players' ponies, with the exception of those who are displayed in the 'Public Stud' section of the Breeding Barn.
The two ponies you wish to breed have to be one adult male and one adult female.
Inbreeding is not allowed (breeding a horse to its relatives).
Foals are displayed as foals when you breed them. You may buy a Lunge Line in the Store for them to age.
Mutations have a chance to pass on to offspring. Other items (potions, tack, etc.) do not.

The ponies, or little horses, have called Tír na gCapall Beag home for many generations. Their exact history is shrouded in mystery, but it is safe to say that they have adapted to their the conditions of their homelands. The little creatures are renowned for their stamina, endurance and intelligence. They are immensely strong for their size and can even carry an adult with ease. Their hooves are exceptionally strong and so most go unshod. These ponies have a tendency to be somewhat stubborn and headstrong, but also very loyal to those who have earned their trust. They come in a wide variety of natural colours, though a few individuals of rather unnatural colouration have been spotted. All of the ponies up for adoption here bear a brand, in the shape of a rose, on their right hindquarter.

Seasons play a huge role in the lives of the little horses. As it is wintertime (1st December-1st March), there are a number of noticeable changes. Only the toughest of ponies choose not to migrate to warmer regions and, as a result, have an exceptionally thick winter coat. Other factors which the season has affected is the ponies' backgrounds and the introduction of several winter-themed items. The most mysterious of occurrences, however, is the appearance of several strange hoofprints in the snow. The oddest thing about them is that they are spaced in such a way as to lead one to think that the horse who left them had eight legs...

Here you can adopt one of the wild ponies that roam the mountainous region. Every week, about four to five ponies join the stable, ready to be adopted by caring owners. These little horses are tamed and vaccinated here before they are ready to leave the stable. We are currently closed for an indefinite period of time.

If you would like to breed an adult male and female little horse for them to produce a foal, the breeding barn is the best place to go. However, there is some information which you need to know before you decide to breed, so that you may make a wise decision.
Just like in real life, there are many colours possible for a foal to have, based on his/her parents genetics. These genetics are complicated and based on real life. Unfortunately, no reliable method of determining the exact genes which a pony has exists. One or both of the parents may conceal some genes, adding to the unpredictability of what the foal will look like. The colour of the foal produced will be decided by me, and not the player. The gender will also be random, unless you buy a Teddy Bear in the Town.
In order to prevent the population from growing out of control, there is a limit as to how many times it is possible to breed ponies. Each pony, regardless of gender, is only permitted to breed once every season, unless you purchase certain items in the store that allow them to do otherwise.
