Species Facts
Scientific Name: Vulpes draquoiana
Common Name: Draquoia
Visual Description: They are a cross between a fox, a bird, and a dragon. They always have an aura that wraps around their paws, wings, head, and tail. They have large ears that droop behind their head, avian wings, and a fox tail. Their pelts are made up of scales coated in fine, soft fur. Their body shape is similar to that of a fox. Most Draquoias are the size of a large dog, but some are the size of a horse.
Breeding: Late winter is mating season. Males may only mate with one female during that year. Draquoias mate for life. After 2 months of pregnancy, females give live birth to 3-5 young. The draclets are mature by two years old, but leave their mother at the age of one year, six months. Aura clouds develop fully at age three.
Range (Year-round nests= red)

Status: Died out 100 years ago of overhunting.

These are the words you read, your heart beating very fast, as you look at the creature in front of you. She is the size of a pony. She looks like this:

Status: Died out 100 years ago. How can they have died out... if this is a Draquoia in front of me? She has the wings, the ears, the aura, and the body for it, but Draquoias are extinct! you think. It's impossible!
As if reading your thoughts, the creature begins to speak. "Hello. My name is Orchid. I am a Draquoia." She smiles in gentle amusement as you stumble backward in shock. Not only did this creature talk, it said it was an extinct species! This was utterly bonkers. You decide to trust Orchid anyway.
"Would you like to adopt one of us? We make good lifelong companions."
"All right," you say. "I'm still a bit confused, though- how do I adopt one of you?"
"I'll explain what you need to do at the village, which is on an island, so if you wouldn't mind getting on my back, we can make it there in no time at all." Orchid puts out her head for you to stroke, then bends down so you can get on her back. You slip onto her back in front of her wings and only just manage to wrap your arms around her neck before she takes off. Her aura snakes around her wings to hold you in place. It is surprisingly solid. The wind tugs at your hair and you look down, drinking in the view of vast, aqua sea.
A small island, the color of snow, rose out of the water. Orchid spiraled down and landed on the island. A few Draquoias cautiously crept out from behind huts made of driftwood, constructed on top of the white sand. "Orchid? That's a human on your back!" A male, blue Draquoia with a bright red aura and blue eyes, wide with shock, exclaims nervously.
"Hush, Noah, it's fine," Orchid sighed. "This human is safe, I promise you. It says it wants to adopt one of us." She opens her mouth to say more, but you interrupt her.
"I'm not an 'it,' " you say. "I have a gender."
Noah laughs. His aura stretches out toward you, and he makes a purring sound. "I haven't seen that much spirit in a human before. Come with me. Here's a village map." He gives you another leaf. This is what it says.

Noah leads you into his driftwood hut. Orchid follows. "In order to adopt one of us, you need to follow the rules. Read this to find out what they are." Noah gives you a palm leaf with writing on it. This is what it says, in scratchy handwriting:

•Absolutely no art theft! This means: don't claim the art as your own. There is a section explaining about that in the Oekaki rules.
•Please respect the staff. If something is not completed right away, remember that the staff have lives too.
•You may use on another site, as long as you link back here.
•Always link back to this thread.
•Do not ask for a custom: artists will give customs on their own.
•Artists: You may make three customs a month and two customs for yourself, total.
•Don't change the Draquoia codeword. That means, keep all capital letters capitalized, and all lowercase letters lowercase. This rule will make more sense when you go to the adoption area.
•You may enter for every Draquoia that's up for adoption!
•I have the right to add new rules.

You hand the leaf back to Noah. "That shouldn't be too hard to follow!" you say. Noah chuckles.
"No, it won't," he says.

Noah leads you out of the hut. "I'd like to introduce you to the humans that work here. There are four jobs: Breeders (artists), Breeders-in-Training (guest artist), Caretakers (mods), and Caretakers-in-Training."
A girl stands nearby. "Hi, I'm impossible;; but you may call me Imp, and I'm a Breeder and a Caretaker. Right now, we need more Breeders-in-Training and Caretakers-in-Training. We don't have any other staff, apart from me, at the moment. If you would come over here for a minute, I can help figure out if you have what it takes. If you want to be a caretaker, send this leaf to me and I'll decide whether or not to hire you. You can just write over the things in [brackets]." Imp hands you a palm leaf like the one with the rules on it. This is what it says:

Next to Imp, a man slouches against a wall. He has black hair and a goatee, and he's wearing a red-and-black jester's outfit, covered with gold bells. He wears a jester's pointed shoes, and he's humming a morbid song. A slightly creepy smile flits across his face. "I;m The Bloodred Bard. You may call my Bard, or Jester. I am a Breeder-in-Training."

You see a signpost. It looks like this:

Noah smiles at you. "I'll leave you here now. Orchid can help you figure out who to adopt, now. Goodbye!" Noah spread his wings and flew off to the center of the island.
Orchid leads you over to a small group of huts. "This is where the Draquoias who want to be adopted live. In general, our speicies loves games of chance, so we're adopted by having raffles. Some Draquoias have already gone to live with someone. They can be found here. This group of huts is where the Draquoias waiting to be adoped live."

"Come on!" Orchid says. "We have to get to the village market before it closes!"
"What village market?" you ask.
"At the village market, you can buy all sorts of things. But first, you have to get Auracoins. Auracoins are our currency. We have a special symbol for them, and it looks like this." Orchid draws a symbol on the ground, looking like this: §. "There are different exchange rates for them. An OMGSC makes 10 Auracoins. A Very Common makes 25 Auracoins. A Common makes 50 Auracoins. An Uncommon makes 100 Auracoins. A Rare makes 500 Auracoins. A Very Rare makes 1,000 Auracoins. An OMGSR makes ∞ Auracoins. If the pet you're trading to get Auracoins is on Dream Believer's wishlist, that makes 50 extra. If it's a female lion, that makes 100 extra. Make sense?" You nod. "When you're trading for Auracoins, be sure to say in the trade message how many Auracoins you want to get, otherwise Dream will take it as a gift."
All this talking had taken a little while. In the meantime, you and Orchid had been Now, over the crest of a hill, you could see a little, bustling market. Orchid seemed to be looking for something. When she found it, she was dissapointed. "Sorry, the market it beginning to close down for the holidays. I'll take you when it reopens."

Orchid takes you back over and around the hill. You are approaching a large, rose-color cluster of huts, shaped like a heart. "Alright," Orchid says, "we mate for life. Occasionally, one of the mates will break the partnership, in which case both Draquoias are free to find a new mate. However, this is a very stressful process, and it is harmful to a Draquoia's mental health to go through this process more than once. We can't breed on our own, we need the help of special potions in order to breed. These can be found over there." Orchid indicates the center of the cluster of huts. You decide to wander over there before meandering back.
