Hello there, and welcome to the Haneinu Adoption page. My name is Hoshikuzu, but feel free to call me Hoshi. I am the thread owner and artist, so please no disrespecting. Before you actually do anything though, please take a moment to read the rules and the FAQ that I have written below.

R u l e s

1. 1. Do not take a creature that is not yours. You must follow adoption procedure to own one.
2. Respect the staff as well as anyone else. Bad manners can and will get you blacklisted.
3. Do not spam the thread. Spam is considered as whining, complaining, posting things for no reason, or posting something without relation to the thread. It is okay to post a compliment or bookmark the thread, but don't post things that you know are not relevant.
4. PM any questions directly to Hoshikuzu, no matter how small you may or may not think it is.
5. Three strikes and you're out. You will be given three polite warnings if you break any of the these rules, but after that, you will be blacklisted (either temporarily or permanently depending on what you did wrong).

A P P E A R A N C E

Haneinu the name itself means "Feather Dog" which fits their strange feathery appearance. Where are the feathers? Feathers adorn the dogs' shoulders and neck area while they also seem to sprout along the spine area near their tails.
These strange dogs also seem to wear masks. Why? No one truly knows. As soon as the canines born, the masks are already half grown- only letting you see the eye. By the next year, the bone martial has grown fully around the creatures face and head like a mask. Many believe that it is for combat reasons since the masks can also take different forms- like have horns or antlers grow off of it.
Haneinu have also been known for their colors. Unlike normal wolves, Haneinu differ in colors greatly due to their unique fur. Their coloring varies- most of the time they are either 90% dark colored with 10% of light/complimentary colors or the other way around but with soft colors (not necessarily bright colors- simply soft colors). However, no matter how greatly their color can change, it is still extremely rare to see colors like green fur or blue fur. So far, there have never been reports of Haneinu with extremely bright/neon colored fur etc.
Haneinu have also been known to grow fluffier in the winter with their colors and feathers brightening considerably- as if to vlend in with the light snow the usually coats The Forest by then.

C H A R A C T E R I S T I C S

Haneinu act similar to a mix of dogs and wolves- maybe even a bot of fox mixed in there.
Just because these creatures act like dogs though, doesn't mean that they are all like that. Some may be friendly and playful, while others may be harsh and violent unless around people that they trust.
Like wolves, these dogs are usually quiet and hunt/gather in packs- only the more playful and rowdy ones being noisy and prone to barking.

V A R I A T I O N S

The more dog-like Haneinu may have slightly larger ears (sometimes) or smaller tail. The more fox-like Haneinu may also have larger ears (sometimes) and a very bushy/fluffy tail. However, having different looking Haneinu is very rare and unusual. How they act though, varies completely and is hard to predict.
Haneinu are usually around the size of a large wolf, though there have been known species of Haneinu that are the size of Chihuahuas, small/large dogs, cows, and even a few have been the size of horses at full growth. Haneinu always get taller as they grow (though their stopping of growth in height can vary), none have ever been known to shrink/grow-taller-then-shrink-later-on as their lifespan continues.

D I E T

Haneinu are omnivores- though they are all different due to their different pedigrees and selective breeding. Some Haneinu only feast on plants, while some insist on only devouring meat. Most though, eat both and are quite contempt with their diet.
In The Forest where these creatures live, we still give them the vitamins and minerals that they require to function normally and well.

H A B I T A T

All Haneinu live in The Forest, however their area in The Forest differ depending on what that species of Haneinu enjoy. Such as; temperature, food, natural, resources, other species nearby, the light/day duration, the night/darkness duration, amount of nocturnal/diurnal creatures nearby, etc.

L I F E S P A N

Haneinu are eternal, however, they still grow up and reach full growth like any other wolf (5-6 years of age is full growth).

B R E E D I N G

Breeding is very important to Haneinu. Their mate is their mate for life, so love and feelings are always essential in a good breeding pair/family. Also, Haneinu can only breed once, so hoping for an extra litter of pups isn't likely.
The pup amount per breeding is usually from 2 pups- 6 pups. It is very rare to have all 6 pups though, 3-4 is the usual amount.

Here, you will be able to apply for your own customarily-designed Haneinu. This process will not be first-come-first-serve, but instead will be chosen from a selection of forms. They are free sometimes, but other times the artist may request payment. You may not complain about this payment. Also, there are a few specifications and restrictions for the types of designs you can ask for.

R U L E S

1. Customs can be designed to "match" or go along with an existing Haneinu, to be used as a mate. However, it must be one that is owned by you, and exact markings/colors will not be used from the one you own. They will simply be designed so that they would look good together and make cute pups
2. You can choose whatever type of horns/antlers and tail you would like for your custom, from the existing list.
3. You cannot ask the artist to just "design anything!" for you. If you are ordering a custom, you must have some idea of what you want-- a color palette, preferred markings, or a reference image/description- etc.
4. Your custom cannot be a "mix between Haneinu 1 and Haneinu 2." That is a breeding, not customs darling C;
5. Your custom cannot be colored like any existing CS animals.

Who owns these species?
Hoshikuzu is the creator of the Haneinu species and they are copyrighted to him.

Can I make my own?
No, you may not. Only artists are permitted to make their own. However, you can order customs when they are open.

When will the next litter be released?
Litters will be released at random, as they are completed. There is no set schedule, and I will try to post them at varying times to give everyone a chance!

Are the adoptables free?
Yes. You will usually have to answer a question relating to the thread or to the staff members in the form though to verify that you read everything. Sometimes there will be writing or drawing competitions for a Haneinu while other times there may be a writing competition in the adoption form. It varies.

How do you decide who gets each design?
Normally, they will be first come, first serve-- to the first person to fill out the form correctly. But sometimes, the forms will ask you to fill in some information about the dog you are adopting, and I members will choose the ones I like or stand out to me. And other times, there will be special openings for people who do not yet have one. This way, I can be sure that everyone has a fair chance to get one.

During special events, can I make forms for two different Haneinu?
You can enter as many special events or contests as you want at one time. During regular adoptions, you are only allowed to post one form, but for example, during our holiday events, you are permitted to post multiple forms. However, each user will only be allowed to win one Haneinu per event, to ensure that others get a chance.

What if I don't want my Haneinu anymore?
You may PM a staff member and they will put your dog in the pound for re-adoption. You are not permitted to resell them or gift them to another user.

How do I become a Guest Artist?
Every now and again, Hoshikuzu will post a form in the Events/Contests section of the thread which you may fill out and PM to him. He will choose based on your designing abilities. Guest Artist slots will usually be opened.

Can Guest Artists create their own customs?
Yes, Guest Artists are permitted to make one custom for themselves if they do not have a Haneinu yet, and design three to be put up for adoption.

What am I allowed to do with my Haneinu?
Anything you want. Give it a gender and a name, unless one is already assigned to it, give it a personality, some accessories if you want, order art of it, draw it yourself, role-play with it, etc. However, you are not permitted to use it on other websites unless it is your character site. Always give the artist credit too.

What am I not allowed to do with my Haneinu?
You may not claim credit for the design or the species (unless it's your artist/guest artist custom), steal someone else's Haneinu, change its design, or gift/sell it to someone else. Anyone found breaking these terms will have their Haneinu taken away and may even be banned.

Are they breedable?
Not yet. Maybe later though when I (Hoshi) have more time on my hands and/or believe that I actually have the ability to.

Am I allowed to make the image smaller so it fits in my signature?
Absolutely.
