This is the main informational thread for Irregular Flutter Ferrets, a CS Oekaki Adoptable. You cannot adopt an IFF from here. The purpose of this thread is to inform and keep track of IFFs and events, and to give people a place to talk about them. If you would like to adopt an Irregular Flutter Ferret, Visit the main adoption thread here. ~≈º What is an Irregular Flutter Ferret? º≈~Flutter ferrets in general are very small. The largest specimens are usually around 12" long. Irregular Flutter Ferrets have the additional designation of being very lithe and slender. Their movement through the air has been described as serpentine, with the body rippling from side to side. They have two sets of diaphanous wings that work in tandem: one set at the shoulders and the other set at the pelvis. In addition, IFFs have tufts of diaphanous "feathers" in strategic places on their bodies to add to surface area and assist in flight. Since they are small and relatively unthreatening, Flutter Ferrets tend to be prey for larger creatures.~≈º Broods º≈~Irregular Flutter Ferrets are social creatures. They live in groups called Broods, which can number in the thousands of individuals and are differentiated by their main color. Their coloring can mean any number of things depending on the defenses the Brood has gained over the generations, be they poison or venom, magical abilities, or physical attributes.
Broods of Flutter Ferrets are named after the region they live in, which correspond to the points of a compass if looked sideways on from the poles (Their planet is different than ours, with the poles on the sides and a vertical rotation rather than a horizontal one). Orange IFFs can be found in the Western Brood in the Western territory for instance. Some Irregular Flutter Ferrets contain many colors, but so long as they contain a large amount of a Brood's color, they are often welcomed.
Territories for a brood are rather large, and span an entire latitudinal stripe on their world. There are many different families of Irregular Flutter Ferrets within a territory. These mini-broods, termed Clans, are often blood-related to each other, whereas the whole brood actually a mix due to the way IFFs breed, which will be explained later. Clans of Ferrets often have different attributes from each other. Just because all Southwestern IFFs are some sort of red, does not mean they all have fiery attributes. Some groups may, while another group could be venomous, and still another could simply be red to blend in to the red-leafed trees in the area that they live. Brood WarsBroods are territorial, and will fight with other groups in contested territory. IFFs outright dislike other Ferrets from opposing regions.Northern Brood vs. Southern Brood

~≈º Rules º≈~- Be respectful to everyone.
- All CS rules apply
- No begging, or spamming.
- Do not steal any art or designs.
- Do not use someone else's adopted ferret without their permission.
- Do not complain if you don't get exactly what you want.
- Do not remove my signature from the lineart.
- Be sure to read the rules for adopting.
- You may own 8 Irregular Flutter Ferrets at a time, not counting Customs or Hatchlings from your own breeding pair. If you do not want one of your ferrets anymore, please PM me or another Artist so that we may adopt it out again.
- Have fun!
~≈º How to Adopt º≈~- Click one that's available and read the instructions from the artist. Fill out any applications.
- Fill out the General Adoption Request Form and post it in the main adoption thread.
- Customs will go to guest artists and mods for free, or will occasionally be given out as contest prizes or sold/traded when slots open up. Do not ask for customs if slots are not available.
- You may enter into as many contests as you like.
- Keep in mind that some Flutter Ferrets are not Free. It is up to the individual artist to decide if they want to charge for their work. However, it is encouraged for Artists to design some Free IFFs as well.
- Each ferret comes with the code to put in your Sig (Looks like the one in my sig). If you want a slightly larger or smaller version and don't know how to do it yourself, feel free to PM me.
- Some Ferrets you may adopt as Eggs. Once the contest for their adoption ends, the egg will hatch and reveal a Hatchling IFF. This Ferret is unbreedable until you enter it into a Ceremony of Aging event.
- You may choose to purchase a YF (Young Forever) Berry, at the cost of 1 Rare CS pet to the artist of your Ferret to keep your IFF as a Hatchling forever, but make it breedable.
- Some (rare) Baby IFFs have the YF mutation, and are breedable without the need to get a berry.

~≈º Guest Artists º≈~- I will ask for Guest Artists based on the number of already available IFFs.
- Each guest artist gets to make up to 5 Irregular Flutter Ferrets, and one for themselves if it is their first time as a guest artist.
- Fill out the form, with a link to your gallery. I will choose randomly from those submissions that meet my standards.
- A guest artist has two weeks to make their ferrets, and one week per ferret to be judged and adopted.
- Guest artist ferrets are always Free. Please write Free Adoption on the image.
- If you make line edits, they must be approved by me (Gelliebeen)
- For proof, please use the word "Orange" when you're asked if you've read the rules in the application form.
- This is not a permanent position, do not ask for it to be. Also, do not complain if you're not chosen to be a guest artist.
- You may not be a guest artist 2 months in a row.
- You may only make Adult ferrets.
- Put my name (Gelliebeen) in the ColorMeIn. If there's something that needs to be done with a ferret you painted I'll always encourage going to the artist first. But if you've disappeared and something needs to be fixed, I need to at least be able to do a ColorMeIn.
- Please number your Ferret with the next highest number from whatever is the latest IFF. I want to keep track of them all.
- Do not forget to Lock Alphas!

~≈º Customs º≈~ Currently closed!- Fill out the form, and post it in this thread as well as PMing it to your chosen artist.
- Each Artist (except Guest Artists) is allowed to do up to 2 customs per month.
- The price is up to them, but customs are not Free.
- You may choose between a YF Hatchling or an Adult, but they won't be growing.
- Whether an Artist decides to do a particular custom is entirely their decision, do not beg or whine.

~≈º Breeding Season º≈~
When it's time to breed, all the Flutter Ferrets feel it. This is the time that all of the Broods forget their differences and migrate to the neutral breeding grounds at the poles of the planet. They mingle with others of their kind and maybe they'll meet another Ferret that feels just the way they do...or maybe not.
When two ferrets do decide to get together, the female of the pair makes a small nest and lays 3-5 eggs. When these eggs hatch, they may be adopted into either of the parent's broods, or sometimes into a different brood altogether, once the breading season is over. The Brood then takes over for the caring of the new IFF Hatchling.
Breeding Rules- Breeding Season is the only time two IFFs may breed. The eligible dates are listed at the top of this section.
- A particular Ferret may only breed every other season.
- An owner may only breed up to two of their IFFs per season.
- A pairing between two specific Ferrets may only happen 3 times total.
- Breeding is not free, each season has a price for breeding (in CS pets)
- There are a specific number of Breeding slots. You must pay the price to the artist who is painting your Hatchlings. If there are two owners, you may split the price.
- Slots are First Come-First Served.
- Even though Flutter Ferrets do not fight during breeding season, there is still animosity towards their enemies. Ferrets from opposing regions (colors) RARELY breed together (this means that even though you may enter to have your ferrets bred, if they are of opposing Broods than there is a 75% chance that they will be skipped. I will roll the percentage myself).
- Depending on the number of entrants, there may be an increase or decrease in the number of slots.
- Your preferred artist is not guaranteed to do your breeding. If there are already many people in front of you asking for a breeding from that artist, than your breeding will be given to someone else.
- Hatchings contain 3-5 baby Flutter Ferret Eggs.
- To prove you've read the rules, please write "Grape" in your form.
- The Owner, or owners, of the Ferret parents may each choose one IFF to keep, and the rest go up for adoption.
- To enter post the Breeding Form. If there are two owners involved only one form is necessary, but the other owner MUST post to say it's okay. I'd be grateful if they quoted the form in their post.
- The breeding price changes from season to season, so be aware.
