Why would you like this character/What will you do for this character?: Defiantly give this little guy lots of love and artwork <3 I just fell in love with his design from the start, with my love for that color scheme. I'll probably end up fitting him into a written story or a comic, because I know I'll want to draw him a ton and write more about his history. That or I'll use him as a role play character, but most likely I'll end up doing the options I mention above. I really love the personality that I see when I look at this character. I've always wanted a fun character and I think Neo will be the perfect type of character I'm looking for. Though I'll probably add the accessory of a bandanna around his neck c: Most likely a light baby blue one that matches his eyes.
Personality:Neo has a very daring personality. Neo is much full of spunk and seems to always have a happy little hop in his step. Very optimistic and likes to look on the brighter side of things. Though sometimes being optimistic can get the best of him. Especially when he likes to try more dangerous/daring things that are already set out in stone to have a not so happy ending to things. Can be a bit persistent though. He enjoys exploring and discovering new places and things. So he can be quite the adventurer, though has the mind of a child. So this also means he can act very immature. So to sum things up Neo has the personality of a little boy. Adventurous, curious,daring,optimistic,persistent,playful, and fun.
History: (Please note the human character I mention in here (Ni pronounced 'Ne' as if you were saying 'Neither') is a character I am currently in the process of creating)
Ni shook Neo violently awake. "Come on wake up quick! We've got to get out of here! The guy that owns this cabin is coming along the trail in his pick-up!" Neo opened one eye and then the other soon followed. He yawned and then collapsed back onto the camo colored sleeping bag. Ni slung her backpack over her shoulder and grabbed Neo off the sleeping bag and set him on the floor. She hastily rolled up the sleeping bag and put Neo under one arm and the sleeping bag under the other. "We don't have time for this nonsense today Neo!" Ni snapped at him in a whisper while she escaped out the backdoor of the cabin. Ni swaggered as she ran from the cabin and out the the owners sight. 20 feet away later Ni dropped the sleeping bag and Neo in a pile on the dry,hard dirt packed ground.
"Hey! what was that for?"
"Not getting up and making me carry you, we could've gotten caught y'know!"
"It's not my fault the guy who owned this place decided to come back at such an un-earthly time in the morning!"
"Neo, it's nearly ten am, it's your fault you didn't get up. Now we need to get moving, the trees aren't doing a good job of covering us up right now."
Neo followed Ni into the more dense part of the forest. Poison oak twisted up tree trunks and a variety of many small plants were divided into patches. The humidity got worse as the minutes passed. It was the middle of August so the temperatures ranged from 90 F-105 F as Ni and Neo had found. The two soon had to find a spot to rest 30 minutes after they had left the cabin. "It's going to be crazy hot out today, Neo"
"Can we try to find a water hole to swim in today? Please Ni. . "
"Maybe, though we have to find shade today, it's not a day fit for travel."
"But Ni. . . I thought you said we could do a little exploring today too."
"I'm sorry Neo I didn't realize it would be this hot out, though maybe we can find a shady spot with a watering hole we can swim in. . .?"
"Fine, but we better be able to tommorow"
"I promise you we'll go tommorow, now lets go find a nice place with a watering hole we can swim in."
Ni ruffled Neo's fur and giggled. They both followed a small trail lined with small violet wildflowers. They ended up walking out from under the cover of the trees and into a small wheat field. It was around noon so both of them agreed that this was a perfect place to have lunch in. Ni took her backpack off her shoulder and placed in on the ground. She unzipped the backpack and un-packed a small fleece blanket, Jelly, Peanut butter, a loaf of bread, a paper plate, a bag containing two apples, and a plastic knife.
Ni laid the blanket out and put the contents she took out of her bag onto the blanket. Ni sat down and unwrapped the bread bag and took out four pieces of bread and laid them on a paper plate. She carelessly slapped on some peanut butter on two pieces and jelly on the other two. She put the two sandwiches together and put the paper plate in the middle of the blanket with the apples for the two to share. "Thanks Ni"
"No problem Neo, now eat up, we'll need the energy for later. Though we're going to have to save our waters for later too, we'll need them with this sun out today"
The two ate in the small wheat field, packed up and followed another trail into a forest to find cover from the sun and from other people. In the forest they did find a water hole in which they swam the rest of the day away. It was good to have fun once and awhile.
Also if you're wondering, Yes they are homeless and are currently just traveling.

"Grandma when will mommy and daddy be back?"
Young Nianna Lillian asked her grandmother. She wondered why her grandmother teared up, looked away and put her hand to her mouth. She had been living with her grandmother for the past 3 weeks after little Ni's parents had died in a car crash with a drunk. But of course Ni never knew, her poor grandmother didn't know how to explain to a 5 year old child that her parents were dead and weren't coming back. Her grandmother knelt down to her level and put her shaky hands on Ni's shoulders. Her grandmother had only done this to her one other time when her pet cat lucy had passed away. She never had to do it for her grandfather's passing for he had died a few years before she was even born.
"Ni, mommy and daddy aren't coming back, they're not with us any more." Ni, shocked watched her grandmother collapse to the floor in tears. She soon joined her grandmother in heavy sobs, she had said the same thing when Lucy died. She knew what it meant. Ni last saw her parents 3 weeks ago when they had left her there with her grandmother. They were going out to a nice casino for a week. Sadly the first night, when they were driving up a drunk trucker hit their car head on in the highway. The chances of survival was only around 3% sadly Ni's parents were part of the 97% that wouldn't survive. Though so was the man driving the truck. Karma came instant to him when after swerving and hitting Ni's parents car, his truck rolled over into the ditch.
1 week later Nianna and her grandmother attended their funeral. Their bodies were too gruesome for showing, so the caskets were not open. Though the couples favorite flower topped the caskets, white lilys. Ni was crowded by family and family friends. Many of them coming up to her saying 'You poor little girl'. Those words haunted her from that day on. Every night she went to sleep those words rang in her head. Reminding her of the tragedy that her parents were in.
"You poor little girl."
11 years later (Ni=16 years old)
Ni knocked softly on her grandmother's bedroom door. "You awake Grandma Diana?" Ni heard her grandmother whisper 'come in'. She pushed open the door with her free hand, for the other hand was busy holding a full bowl of Cream of Mushroom soup. "Oh what a dear you are, Ni" Her grandmother praised her. "It's no biggie Grandma." Ni said blushing a little. Ni propped up her grandmother with pillows and set the tea tray with the soup on her lap. Her grandmother took a spoonful of the soup and took an exaggerated blow of air to cool it down. She took a sip and praised Ni once more.
Despite the fact that at the time her grandmother was not only suffering from debt left behind from grandfather, but she was practically on her death bed , she still was the same as before when Ni was a little girl. She was 78 at the moment and had a series of heart attacks that followed her in past years. She needed a heart transplant dearly but even if they found a donor they would be no way they would be able to pay for the pricey hospital bill. They were forced to sit and watch the clock hands move as one of them was slowly dying. Why did being poor have to control whether or not you survived?
But then as her Grandmother took another blow at a spoonful of soup it happened. Her grandmother took one breath and collapsed upon her bed. Soup spilled onto the floor as Ni screamed. Tears rolled down Ni's face as she buried her face into her grandmothers dead body. This couldn't happened. Not right now. She didn't even get to say goodbye. Her aunt and uncle Lou were her only surviving relatives, so they helped her with her grandmother's funeral. Though it was just a replay of what had happened when her parents had died.
"You poor little girl."
Ni was lost when it came to what to do with the house. Though since she was under 18 by law she had to go live with any surviving relatives. Which happened to be her Aunt and Uncle Lou. Though she only lived with them for 1 year. Considering she didn't want to have to be a burden on them, she had no other choice but to run away. It was best for the all of them. Luckily she had been home-schooled her whole life to save money, so school wouldn't be a problem.
Ni left with very little when she left. Just a small food and water supply, some cash she had earned baby-sitting/doing chores, warm clothing, and a few personal items. Including a necklace from her grandmother and a blue bandanna that belonged to her pass cat and childhood friend, Lucy.

I wasn't a real living thing. I was a test subject. A genetically altered test subject.
Neo ran through the forest with adrenaline pumping through his body. Claws clicked on the dry hard ground as frantic paws lead him through the forest. He couldn't believe he escaped from that torture chamber. But was this really reality? Was it a dream or was it really true that he had just escaped from AOT Science facility for the 'Animals of Tomorrow'?
In the AOT science facility, many animals like him were breed with other animals to create a new breed and then given the mind of an 8 year old. The science facility had tried giving the new breed of animals a smarter mind, but they found that doing that would give the animals the ability to outsmart them. Experiments 001 and 003 were never to be found again after escaping with the mind of a 30 and 20 year old. Though the only way Neo was able to escape was because unlike the other animals, he was able to grow smarter. Most of the time the animals would never grow smarter after getting a 'new mind'.

Ni had started traveling through a thick forest 3 days after she ran away from her aunt and uncles home. She wasn't exactly sure where she was, but it might be better if she just traveled for awhile. Though she had to stick in more abandoned places, she was sure that her relatives had sent cops and search parties after her. It would be bad if she was noticed. Ni sat down on a boulder near a small creek to eat lunch.
Ni soon heard something running towards her. It was an animal of some sort, there was no way it could be human. As it came closer she noticed it looked like a fox, but with the pattern of a dog. Though for some strange reason the animal kept looking back as if something was chasing it. . .
(Neo's point of view)
Neo kept looking back to make sure no scientists were running after him. He knew he should be focusing on the path to come in front of in but at the moment he was scared the scientists were following his trail. He didn't want to go back to that place. Though soon enough, he found himself regretting not paying attention to the the path in front of him. Infact enough that his first few moments of freedom would soon be ending.
Neo didn't think quick enough when he slipped into the fast creek. He didn't know how to swim and large amounts of water like this was very unusual to him, considering they never taught them about the outside world much in the facility. Neo's head bobbed up and down, gasping for air. He panicked which made it worse, though he wanted to get out of the ice cold water as soon as possible. He had never been so scared for his life.
(Ni's point of view)
Ni watched as the animal went into the deep creek. She couldn't watch the poor thing suffer and die like this. She always had a soft spot for animals. Ni hurried to save the strange animal. She noticed the animal had a collar, so she made a quick grab for it and pulled the animal out of the creek. The poor thing's heart was racing and the animal was shivering from the cold water. Ni took a closer look at the collar since it was quite interesting. Instead of being a thread weaved collar it look like a sort of aluminum with a copper plated tag. She squinted and read the carvings in the tag while the animal was recovering from it's unexpected swim.
She read the carvings in a whisper "Property of 'Animals of Tommorow' Science facility, Experiment #078 'Neo'."
Ni sat knelled there in utter shock. Could this animal really be the proclaimed experiment of A.O.T. science facility? She had heard of these animals on the news, they were genetically altered to create a new breed then given the mind of an 3-8 year old. Though she never thought the place lived up to it's expectations, it all seemed to good to be true. Considering how is it possible that an animal could be as smart as a young human child. Utter nonsense is what Ni thought.

Ni stroked the animal's water soaked fur "So your name is Neo, how cute!" Ni still spoke in a whisper just in-case anyone was really on her trail. Neo calmed down as Ni stroked his fur. "I didn't know a name could be cute" Neo spoke coughing up water afterwards. Ni couldn't believe that this animal just talked. She heard on the news how the facility was trying to teach the animals the English language but she never thought it could really happen.
"Y-you can talk?!" Ni softly exclaimed putting her hair over her mouth, astounded. Neo coughed up some more water and got up. "Can't all animals talk?"
"No, in fact most animals don't talk" Ni said still shocked. Neo look at Ni, confused. Nearly all of the animals in the facility could talk, so why was she so shocked? Neo then remembered like the others he was genetically altered. He wasn't a real animal. Could real animals not talk? Ni then side-tracked Neo's thoughts with a question.
"If you were in that science facility how'd you get out here anyways?"
"I escaped, I couldn't stand it anymore. . ."
"Then that makes two of us."
Neo looked up "Two of us? . . . ."
"Yes, I also ran away from my home because I couldn't stand it anymore. . ."
Neo thought for a moment, maybe she could help him hide and stay away from being caught again from those pesky scientists. . .? "Can I travel with you? I need to hide from the scientists. . . I don't want to go back there, it's scary."
Ni thought about it for a moment. She could make do with a companion, as long as he didn't get her caught. She might as well, because she was going to get lonely while traveling. "What the heck, sure. Just don't get me caught okay?" Ni smiled and ruffled the fur on Neo's head giggling. "Thank you, really, I owe you. What can I call you anyways?"
"You can call me Nianna or Ni for short."
"Thanks, Ni. . ."
"No problem, did you want some food? Running away from a facility like that must be tiring."
Neo accepted the food right away, he was starving. "Yes, please!" Ni took another paper plate out of her bag and put a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on it. She put the paper plate with the sandwich on it next to Ni. "Eat up, you'll need the energy."
"Thanks again Ni. . ."
"It's no problem Neo, now eat. We'll be leaving for traveling soon."
