My Entry for the Written part of the Winter Sleigh Competition:

Equids used: Asteria (Owned by: _Wolfgirl_), Artemis (Owned by: _Wolfgirl_), Donatello (Owned by: Copper96), and Esmerelda (Owned by: Copper96)

Jess: “Welcome everyone to the annual Wild Mountain Equid Winter Contest! My name is Jess and I’ll be your host today along with Chad. It’s a beautiful day out for a race this morning, there is only a light snowfall and the high winds of yesterday have died down right on time for today! Luck seems to be on our side!”

Chad: “Yes indeed, Jess! And look! Here come the racers for the Four Equid Sleigh Event! Oh you can feel the excitement in the air!”

Jess: [Can hear a gentle laugh over the speakers] “So in this event we have six teams and to win they have to make it around the five mile loop. And wow do those Equids look excited! They are just coming back from their warm-up and they all seem very eager to get started.”

Chad: “Yes, they do. I can see them prancing from all the way back here! So let’s look at the competition while the teams get lined up. Now who would you say are the ‘underdogs’ for this race?”

Jess: “Well, I say this is going to be a tough competition, but I would probably say sleigh 2. According to my papers we have some very young Equids participating today on that team.”

Chad: “Yes, [Can hear papers shuffling]. Ah yes! Asteria and Esmerelda, are both only about two years old.”

Jess: “Yes, but sleigh driver Isabelle Williams was wise to put the two experienced Equids in the front. Well, were about to get started. The teams are all lined up.”

Chad: “Best of luck to all! And…. We’re off! Ha! I’ve always wanted to say that!”

Jess: “I’m glad you finally had your chance! Alright, sleigh 5 is in the lead, followed closely by sleigh 1. Sleigh 2 seems to be boxed in by sleigh 6 and 4, and sleigh 3 takes the rear.”

Chad: “And look at that snow fly! I don’t know how anyone can see them. It looks like a mini snow storm out there!”

Jess: “Yes it does… and as they round the turn towards the forest, sleigh 1 is pulling up neck to neck to sleigh 5. You can just see the power in those determined Equids and drivers! And there they all go… we won’t be able to see the Equids for a bit until they pass through the woods…”

Chad: “[singing] Over the river and through the woods…”

Jess: “[interrupting] Chad… the people aren’t listening to hear you sing…”

Chad: “Right. Sorry folks.”

Jess: “Anyways… and here they come from the forest, [Hears an intake of breath from Chad] and don’t you start singing again Chad! Sleigh 5 is still fighting for the lead over sleigh 1 and looks like sleigh 2 is still boxed in."

Chad: “But wait! Sleigh 4 seems to be dropping back… but will sleigh 2 take the chance? And they do! Sleigh 2 is breaking away from the small pack and heading after the leaders.”

Jess: “And poor sleigh 3, it just doesn’t look like their day today. It seems one of their Equids got a stone stuck in the hoof and they are being forced to stop. But I can hear the claps from the crowd from here! They always seem to appreciate it when an Equid owner takes good care of their furry partners.”

Chad: “Yes, it touches my heart when people give up their victory for their animals.”

Jess: “Indeed. Now, it looks like sleigh 5 seems to be falling slowly back… and sleigh 1 is now in the lead. Sleigh 2, meanwhile, is pulling up right be sleigh 5. You never know… maybe these ‘underdogs’ will claim their first victory!”

Chad: “Yes, you can see the concentration in the drivers eyes. And those young Equids are defiantly not running out of energy.”

Jess: “No they are not! Maybe the sleigh 2 driver has come up with a new strategy for them all.”

Chad: “Maybe. Oh! And look! Sleigh 2 has moved up to second place!”

Jess: “Just look at them go as they move on up onto the leader. And looking back, it seems like the Equids on sleigh 5’s team seemed to have run out of steam. They are now in last, but they had a good run!”

Chad: “Meanwhile, sleighs 6 and 4 are racing up after the leaders, they seem to be gaining ground slowly. I hope they don’t burn out their energy.”

Jess: “And here we go, the last leg of the race! And its sleighs 1 and 2 neck and neck with the sleigh 4 and 6 not far behind.”

Chad: “And look at those two teams fight! But at this point they seem to be evenly matched. Neither are gaining and ground in this battle."

Jess: “And here we are heading towards the finish line and… Oh! [Hears a gasp over the speaker] Oh no! It seems like sleigh 2’s young Equid, Asteria, stumbled and the poor team is fighting to keep their footing!”

Chad: “…but they did it! They are back up in the running yet it is too late. Sleigh 1 has crossed the finish line and is the winner of the Four Equid Sleigh Event! Congratulations to [Shuffling papers] Dan and his wonderful team!”

Jess: “Yes! Congrats to our winners and it looks like that little slip up caused sleigh 2 to come in second. And third goes to… sleigh 6!”

Chad: “Ah look at the excited face on Dan and his Equids seem just as excited! But sleigh 6 seems rather upset…”

Jess: “Yes, but Isabelle of sleigh 2 seems just as happy as sleigh 1… she is even comforting Asteria, the young Equid that stumbled. And look! She just went over and shook hand with sleigh 1!”

Chad: “That’s what I like to see! Good sportsmanship!”

Jess: “Well everyone, that’s it for today! And we will be back tomorrow at 2:00 for the Two Equid Sleigh Event! Congrats to our winners and well done to all the participants!”

Chad: “[Singing again] Good-bye! Farewell! I [cut off by Jess]”

Jess: “Chad!” [Speakers go silent after a quick laugh from Chad]

Finally finished my entry and was really psyched about how well the trees and such came out after so long...Then I looked again and realized how horrible my proportions are Just embarrassing...As usual...I'm soooo terribly sorry
