Pen H1 ••• [Agent] Saleen
Drug-Sniffing Specialist, at your service.
Why do I want this Goennec, and what will I do with them?
- I fell in love with Saleen almost as soon as you posted the kennels, though I was at work and had to shove my mind off of CS until I clocked out. I love his coat colors, and I find myself in need of some grey in my domestic group - perhaps he's perfect for the spot? He also makes me think of a drug sniffing dog that I met once, and though the breed might not be perfect for the job, I feel that the police department would try anything in this day and age, and maybe a goennec would be a neat little experiment for them, especially in this economic climate.
Saleen will of course join my (total) herd in pretty much every aspect of my life, though of course he'll stick with Orchid and Davey up there. c: I'm quite confident that you are aware of my methods.
Define your Goennec
- Likes
Saleen enjoys the "hunt" and loves to earn praise from his co-officers and handler. He thrives on bacon scraps from the table, and burns off the excess energy by running wildly around his handler's acre and a half of land, looking for new prey to stalk. Though he is spectacularly bad at the actual "kill" part of the hunt, he loves tracking and does quite well at it, for an animal that has a lesser sense of smell than most canines. He also loves squirming into tight spaces that his German Shepard co-officers cannot, as this is where he surpasses them on the job. His favorite toy is the thing he is trained to "hunt" when on the job - a plush stuffingless fox that is lightly scented with harmless chemicals that smell like the narcotics he searches for. He has had this toy since he was born, when the police department decided to try training him.
- Dislikes
Saleen likes being clean, so any sort of mud or dirt repels him, unless he catches wind of prey (or the drugs he is trained to find) - in which case, there is nothing that will get him off of the trail! He cannot stand chaos or messes, and will bring order to the best of his ability when he feels the need to. Because of his natural shortcomings in size, strength and overall ability, Saleen does not like to be shown that he is inferior and will do everything he can to prove his value, even when the challenge is only a misunderstanding. Lastly, he is very uncomfortable around unfamiliar and aggressive dogs, as in his line of work... it means he needs to run or he'll lose a limb.
- Personality
Saleen has a wide stubborn streak, and is quite prone to his own quick temper. However, his energy is usually focused on performing his duties as an agent of the law, and he treats his job and title with utmost respect. As one of the first of his kind in his position, he wants to do some real good and make a difference in his little world. Though spoiled by the city, which views him as a community treasure, he likes to believe that he's humble and hardworking - which is only partially true, but it is the thought that counts, as far as he's concerned. Saleen has a thirst for life and all that it has to offer him, and he soaks up the thrillseeking nature his handler brings into his life; from marathon running to a drive through the country at a blissfully breakneck speed, he has done everything that he could ever imagine doing and so, so much more.
When alone, he tries to hold up the strong, proud facade he holds up for the public, but little cracks showing his insecurities show more often when his audience is limited. He is constantly afraid that he's not doing a good job, that everything he has done has been a fluke, that everyone secretly wants him to falter so they can tear him down and retire him. He doesn't quite understand the difference between the general public and the criminals he often runs headlong into on a "hunt", and it confuses him - why would people praise him, then point a gun at him when they have the scent of his fox in their pockets? He worries constantly, but feels like he can't show any sign of weakness, and so he hides it - as far down as he can - and tries to completely forget about it. But he can't - he can't and it only serves to pain him when he needs his (feigned) confidence the most.
