Username: q1q2q3q4
Kennel Number: 11
Species: Cat
Use: I want to use him in my Time Truffles universe as a companion for a character called Tribal. He'll join him somewhere halfway in Tribal's timeline. Although i'd also use him for other things too, just like most of my characters.
Name: Blood
Gender: Male
Age: Adult
Setting: Time Truffles Universe
(scifi-fantasy world littered with an alien fungi species that produces these truffles that cause time travel)
Personality:
Blood's a confident, adventure loving guy. He's rather clumsy thanks to his lack of eye-body coordination from spending years in a lab where he didn't do much. The unknown seems to call to him because of this lack of activity in early life. Thanks to his boost in self confidence after the Time Truffle invasion and joining Tribal, he can be a bit too confident at times and he's begun to develop a habit of boasting. He's good hearted on the inside and only ever wants the best for others, or at least most of the time.
History:
(backstory)
Blood was born in a lab on Earth during a time when genetically modifing animals had become legal and popular. He was genetically modified to have unusual bright colored markings and really good strength. Whilst most of these gm lab animals were created and sold to the pet trade, Blood fell under the 20% used for thurther research and overall lab testing. He was named B100D as a tag and was chipped under this code. Blood spent his whole childhood under lab conditions. He was lucky and used as a subject to watch the behaviour of - He could have easily ended up being used for dissection instead.
Having been stuck in a lab room his whole life so far, he never got the chance to stretch his legs enough to get used to his genetically modified strength. As a result, Blood showed signs of being rather clumsy at a young age. Bloods first major clumsy accident was knocking a test tube over and spilling chemicals onto his legs. The chemicals started to eat into his body and even reach the bone in some areas. As a result of this early injury Blood has worn bandages on his front legs for years.
Blood continued to live in lab conditions as he went into adulthood. Little did he or anyone else know, Earth was about to be invaded.
It started off completely undetected. A small meteor landed in a farmers feild. It was about the same size as a sesame seed. The meteor was infact a tiny seed, sent out in desperation from an alien plant species who's planet had long been destroyed. This seed was their last hope, their last offspring. A tiny shoot shot out of the seed. It felt the ground, patting it and searching for growing conditions. The seed seemed to dislike the spot it had landed in, it was too crowded. It flicked it's shoot quickly at the soil and threw itself into the air. The seed spent the whole afternoon hopping around odly untill it found perfect, comfortable conditions. From there it planted itself into the soil and started to grow. This seed soon became a giant alien plant that spread across the whole space of Europe underground, twisting and weaving itself around human activity to remain undetected.
Meanwhile, Blood had matured into a clumsy, tough-acting adult, although he was rather laid back. He'd learnt to enjoy and appreciate being stuck in a lab as he recognised that he was lucky to be alive and not disected, as well as the seemingly infinate supply of food that humans gave him. He had become a real favourite amongst the scientists who worked with him. Although, Blood began to develop a desire for an adventure. Whilst he enjoyed his laid-back life he was given, he wanted to explore more than just the lab shelfs and test tube racks. He was getting bored of knocking over chemicals for entertainment.
One observation humans had made besides his clumsiness was his intelligence, an accidental side effect of his genetic modifications. B100D was marked as more intelligent than most gm animals at the time. People observed how he made up his own puzzles and games for himself and/or someone else to solve. Blood managed to sneak out of his usual area and he somehow snatched a scalpel from somewhere. His original plan was supposed to involve cutting up and defacing some of the scientists notebooks and work, however Blood managed to trip over his own tail and crash into the wall, cutting his face open and causing the first scar on his tail. Fortunately, the scalpel was sterile and didn't cause any infections, but Blood was left with nasty wounds that eventually healed up into some of the scars seen on him today.
A while after his wounds had fully healed, Blood was given a test. For the first time ever, he would be outside. He was given a small pen at first, so he could get used to the outside.
"Blood stepped out onto the green grass. He felt the mix of grass and morning residue on his paws. It felt right. He didn't know why, but the grass felt like the missing adventures from his life, as if all the missed experiences were calling him. For the first time ever, Blood felt at one with his instincts. He sniffed the morning air and heard the early song of the birds. He turned slightly to face a gentle breeze. Blood stood there for a few seconds, simpily taking in everything and observing the outside world. This was the unknown, and yet he didn't fear it."Blood was then introduced to a bigger pen and then an even bigger one untill he had a garden's worth to explore. And this is when he found one.
It was midday on a weekend. Blood was enjoying exploring his new area in detail. He patrolled it all the way up to the border to the very middle, making a map of his area in his mind. He had recently gotten his final garden updrage in wise of floor area, and he was keen to explore his new unknowns.
And then he saw it., in the very corner of his garden. It was dull and small, but it smelt sweet. It tempted him to eat it, to take a bite. What Blood saw was one of the first budlings of the secretive alien species. Blood took a bite and - poof! He vanished from the spot he was in and he appeared in his lab room (that now had a catflap to the outside). Blood was stunned by this, but passed it off as nothing at first.
Over time, more an more of these alien budlings popped up. (budlings is what a young time truffle is called) Although this alien invasion made the news, the budlings appeared rather harmless to everyone. Scientists went wild over the young time truffles and many were taken to labs for testing. Around the same time food shortages begun and the less food there was, the more truffles there appeared to be. But no-one thought much of it. Many were expecting food shortages due to earth's massive overpopulation problem, everyone knew shortages would come sooner or later. Eventually there wasn't enough food to go around, and so people turned to eating the tine truffles, since they were so abundant. This caused utter chaos. Eating a time trouffle randomly sends its consumer into a random different part of time & a often also different location. Humans quickly learnt this, but continued to eat them anyway, as they had no choice. Eventually most humans & animals either died of starvation or got transported to a time where the truffles hadn't come to earth yet.
Blood watched all of this happen from the safety of his lab window. It broke his heart a bit. He saw how almost everyone had just two choices, to starve to death or eat truffles and hope you didn't get stuck at a bad time, or get transported into space. Blood felt guilty whenever he ate his food, knowing he had years worth of food at the lab, and everyone else got next to nothing. Blood spent a few months like this until he couldn't take it. He felt he had to act. He snuck into various labs to try and find something to help.
After looking through a few rooms but finding nothing that sparked his interest, Blood entered another room. It was another boring lab with the same old white walls. This room seemed a lot messier though and there were odd grease marks here and there. In this room Blood found a strange box-like device. He took it without really thinking. It looked different from the normal lab items, it looked unique. It looked like it would do something special. Blood rummaged around more lab rooms some more useless looking stuff, picking up odd bits along the way and bringing them back to a safe hiding space in his outside area.
A few more guilty days passed. These days turned into months.
During this time, Blood had played around with the things he collected, starting with the top of his pile, so the more recent ones. Eventually he got to the box thing. It had some nice looking carved patterns into an unidentifiable material. It had what appeared to be a button on each face of the shape. Blood could see a crack in the material and something that looked like a hinge, so he figured out that the box thing must open. Blood played around with the item for a while, pressing different combinations of buttons, shaking it, tossing it, anything he could think of. But the box wouldn't open. After a long day, Blood got fed up of the box and tossed it into a puddle. He turned around and headed for the lab.
Just as Blood was settling down to sleep, the patterns on the box started to glow a faint pastel yellow. The yellow was very dull at first and nobody noticed it, however it started to rain and the yellow glow became a lot brighter. Blood didn't get much rest, perhaps 15 minuets at most. He opened his eyes to see a stunning light yellow glow. Closing his eyes out of fear of getting blinded, Blood slowly approached the glowing box. He went up to it and touched it with his paw, batting it out of curiosity. The box opened up and inside was some sort of vacuum or vortex, as Blood got trapped inside it. The box disappeared from its current location.
The box was functioning similar to the Time Truffles. It took Blood to what appeared to be a random location. Blood was thrown out of the tiny box and onto the flood. Stunned and unaware of what just happened, Blood looked around dizzily, stumbling as he tried not to fall over. He tripped on something and fell head first into a goopy material. A feline figure walked up to him and stood besides him. The figure picked up the small box and sat down on the floor. The figure mumbled to themself.
"Hmm. These boxes really are interesting. Well, i got them at a discount, i'd say money well spent."
The figure turned their head to face Blood, who was still on the floor.
"I'd pick yourself up if i were you, that goop is corrosive."
Immediately Blood sat up and stood up, brushing the goo off his fur. He looked at the figure. They appeared to be another gm cat, with unnatural coloring and perfect patterning. The figure wore a scarf round their neck and a pocket watch tied around their tail.
"So who's the box brought to me this time? "
Blood replied "uhh, i'm Blood. My actual name is B100D, but that was just an experiment code-"
"hmm, so a lab experiment, eh? Interesting."
Blood looked unimpressed. "I'm not some escaped lab experiment!"
"Sorry, my mistake. Your definitely a lab creation though. A human creation by the looks of things, you can't be Tausalien unless you came from their earlier development, perhaps?"
"Tausalien?"
"Thought so. Look, it's a long story, but this box thing-"
"The box that basically napped me and sent me here wherever I am."
"Yes, this box did that deliberately, Inside it is advanced ai that responds to H
2O. Admittedly i did send it out to go and find something interesting, i was just testing it out."
"Why did it take me of all things it could have taken?"
"Apparently it thinks you're interesting or something. It seems to believe that you're really important or something, though it may just be a faulty box."
Blood said nothing. He took a moment to try to take in all of this information.
"Wait, who are you and where the flip am i?!"
"You're currently standing on the planet Epleon V, or whatever's left of it. And, I'm Tribal."
"Hmm... How far away is Earth?"
"Earth's long gone, well it's still there, just taken over by Time Truffles. There's no use in going back there, unless you want to risk your life to harvest some truffles."
"oh. I lived there, right before the box took me here."
"Well, you'd have died soon, that plant get's hungry. It eats through every other plant species and then moves onto the next planet. Eventually it will wipe clean the universe of it's lifeforms and it will be the last living thing to exist and die."
"Well thats certainly cheery."
"It may be stoppable. I just don't know how to stop it."
"I could help?"
"Eh, What could you do?"
"Well i don't have anywhere to go now, so i may as well tag along with you?"
"Do you have to?"
"Yes?"
"Fine. If you must."
