When you colour, try to find colours that fit with eachother. For example, light blue and white go well together. Red and black also go well together. Blue and orange, although opposite of eachother on the colour wheel, go well with eachother due to their slight differences. Try not to put too much of very different colours together, or too much bright colours. A dull colour, like gray, and a bright blue or green go together nicely. Red and green, for example, go good with eachother if it is Christmas, or is small doses. When you make the markings, try to refrain from colouring large patches in bright colours randomly. If it's something like a paint horse, make the patches in the places you think will fit.
