Drayions name: Virin
Story: The shadows swallowed the night colored Drayion as he stepped out of the sunlight. The shadows were Virin's only friend. Others were put off by his coldness but the shadows didn't care. They accepted him just as he was, not asking anything. He smiled, his sharp fangs gleaming in the dim light. He was never lonely in the shadows, they were his family. He stalked through the shadows as if he were one, sliding from one to another without so much as stirring a leaf.
He was the ultimate predator and he knew it. His jaw lowered slightly as he released the ultrasonic sound that he used to locate prey. His massive ears rotated forward to heard the return sounds. His tail was raised slightly off the ground, enough not the touch anything but not enough to interfere with his movement. His mouth began to water when his ears picked up the shaped of a small fawn up ahead. He almost laughed by how easy this was, other predators relied on their sight and smell and the fawn could find from both if it was smart. There was no hiding its shape among the slimmer grass blades around it. The mother was going to be fawnless when she returned.
Virin stalked forward, constantly sending out his ultrasonic waves. He smiled when he caught the fawns scent, it knew he was coming and it was afraid. It thought if it stayed still he wouldn't be able to find it. If he was something else, it just might survive. It didn't have a chance though, he was a much more evolved predator than the ones it'd evolved to counter. He casually walked toward the fawn, waiting for it to startle and run. He wanted a chase but the fawn never ran, it just sank lower to the ground and trembled. This was no fun, Virin growled trying to get the fawn to run. It refused too.
Virin sat down at the edge of the shadows and watched the fawn, why didn't it run? They usually did. He could clearly tell that it was alive but he couldn't kill something unless it ran. He sat confused, had his prey figured out a way to avoid him? He emerged from the shadows, like a wrath. He went and sat in front of the fawn where it could help but see him and he was a scary sight for a prey animal. Still it refused to run. Maybe it was stupid and didn't know that he was a predator.
He sat confused, finally reaching out and batting the fawn. The fawn stumbled a few steps and then laid back down. Virin growled and the fawn trembled but didn't run. Why would it run? He laid down and watched the fawn, thinking it was just trying to fool him and would run the moment he stopped paying attention to it. He was wrong the moment he laid down, the fawn got to its shaky legs and walked toward him! Virin watched in absolute confusion. The fawn laid down and snuggled against him.
Virin jumped away from the fawn. There was something wrong with this prey animal! Maybe it was sick or something. Virin back away from the fawn but now it was on its little hooves and following him! He looked at the little fawn with complete bafflement. What was wrong with it? What kind of prey animal follows its predator? Virin melted back into the shadows but the fawn still seemed to be able to follow him. He climbed a tree and the fawn laid down below it. There was definitely something wrong with that fawn.
Virin was still trying to decide how to get away from the fawn when its mother appeared and the fawn calmly walked to it mother and together they disappeared in the woods. Virin stayed in his tree, spooked by the fawn. He shook himself and slipped down the tree and left that part of the woods. He never wanted to see that fawn again, it was scary.
