prompt answer: The tortoiseshell rogue stuck her tongue out at Sandstar, "You know you need me! I may be young but I sure can hunt!" Sandstar sighed and turned to face away from the tortoiseshell, but she dashed ahead of the cream tabby and thrust her head in front of him, bumping foreheads. She glared at him and huffed, "Listen to me!" Sandstar looked unamused and pushed the cat away with his paw, "I'm not looking to be a kitsitter. Thanks, though." The cream tabby started to walk away. The tortoiseshell looked stunned by the remark and quickly looked into a puddle to make sure she didn't look like a kit. She blushed in embarrassment as she noticed her fur had fluffed up, and she quickly smoothed it down with her tongue. The tortoiseshell signed as the cream tabby padded farther and farther away. She looked down at her paws, fighting back the tears. She took a deep breath and sat down, trying to calm herself. You don't need to be a part of some stupid group. It'll probably disband within days, the tortoiseshell thought to herself. Despite this, she could not push down the weakness and hopelessness she felt, such a tiny cat in such a big world, all by herself, with no one to accompany her.
Sandstar slept on a large rock on the beach, watching the sun slowly rise into the pastel sky. His ivy-green eyes watched the clouds drift over the horizon. Unfortunately for the tom, the peaceful silence would soon be interrupted as he felt something hit him in the back of his head. He let out a mew of surprise and turned around, seeing a little seashell. Sandstar rubbed the back of his head, both trying to null the slight pang and wondering how a seashell flew up and hit his head. Luckily, he didn't need to wonder for long. "Hey! You! Mr. Grumpystar!" A cat called from the forest line. Sandstar rolled his eyes, "What do you want now?"
The tortoiseshell huffed and ran up to him, not caring if the rocks stabbed her paw pads. "I will not tolerate this disrespect! My name is Seagull, and you will listen to me! I may not have as much experience in this great big world as you do, but I know you need me." The loud, childlike voice of the tortoiseshell began to crack at the end of her sentence, "And I need you too." The tortoiseshell looked at her paws, unwilling to meet the gaze of the tom, "I can't live alone like this. This world is so big, and I'm so small." Sandstar looked down at the tortoiseshell, the hardiness in his gaze vanishing, "Okay, so maybe I do need company." The tom slowly crawled down onto the beach, facing the tortoiseshell, "I'm sorry I was rude to you earlier. You caught me at a bad time, Seagull." The tortoiseshell looked up, hope flickering in her gaze, "You may join Rippleclan." The tom mewed.
