If only a single word were to be used to describe Coraline’s overall personally, it would be “lively”. She is extremely ambitious, for one. She has yet to decide what she wants from life, but she wishes to succeed and become known for something other than having been thrown out of a lake and for looking half fish. She is also rather playful. She enjoys roughhousing, even when it is not the time or place. She loves to run around and see the world, and certainly enjoys other outdoor activities as well. While Cora most definitely has days when all she wants to do is lounge around and sleep, the majority of the time, she cannot be kept still.
She is ridiculously curious, so much so that there is a distinct possibility that her theoretical gravestone will say, “curiosity killed the cat.” She strives to learn more about the unknown, including herself. She is also very brave, so in the case that learning requires more than the inquisition of unsuspecting lions, she is able to venture forth and forcefully acquire the information she seeks. Of course, she is usually scolded before she gets very far in her attempts to pursue any knowledge, or otherwise...
Coraline is very much a realist. Though her actions are not always logical, she is always thinking logically. She weighs out her options, figures out which path is better, and always takes into consideration the chance of success. She never thinks too optimistically, even when she hopes that something good will happen. She is more likely to think pessimistically, but only does so when she’s feeling down, or when she feels that something will just go wrong. Nevertheless, Cora can be quite rash in her actions, as she always follows her heart rather than listens to her brain.
Depending on the situation and people, Cora's actions/personality can look drastically different. Typically, if a stranger were to look at her, they would get the impression that she was a shy cub. However, that couldn’t be more wrong. Cora has a tendency to act timid and fragile in public, though for what reason, even she doesn’t entirely know. If a stranger were to talk to her though, they would quickly learn of her more friendly, outgoing personality. She loves to socialize, and while she personally couldn’t possibly crack a joke, she loves to laugh.
To her elders, the cub is very respectful. She has never once considered a rude comment towards one of them, and she hopes to keep it that way. Though, that’s not to say she doesn’t have a small issue towards authority. Because she doesn’t like being told what to do, Coraline has always had a hard time accepting that there are people higher in rank than her, people who have the right to order her around. She understands this is an issue, but as she is a rather stubborn lion, she chooses to ignore it. There is also the matter of her always feeling intimidated by anyone of a higher rank...
Towards lions her own age (more or less), she takes on a whole new trait. She’s surprisingly flirtatious, and will never pass up a chance to send a wink someone’s way, or to downright compliment them then bat her lashes. Of course, she doesn’t actually have any desire for a mate or anything of the likes, at least not yet. She flirts for the simply joy and thrill of it; She loves to see her “preys’” reactions.
Coraline may come off as a nice person, for the most part, but she’s been known to also be somewhat irritating and rude. She doesn’t necessarily believe herself to be better than the other lions, but some part of her thinks that she’s somehow above them anyway. She often acts as if she is royalty, demanding others to bring her things and whatnot. With this, her speech often ends up sounding like it’s coming from a prestigious princess who thinks about their words very carefully, rather than a reckless cub who just likes to sound like she’s regal and knows what she’s talking about.
Her strange princess complex and authority issues are directly linked to her general dominance in a group. She likes to be on top, she likes to give the orders. Her actual leadership skills are sub par, but if she were to drop her bossiness and summon her intelligence, she would likely be able to provide good guidance for her age. Anyone could agree that she would be an amazing person if she didn’t always act so spoiled.
Now, there is a secret that Coraline would never consider telling to a single soul; As happy and outgoing as she may seem, half the time is she is simply covering up for her crippling insecurities. While she takes pride in her uniqueness, there has always been a voice in the back of her head, reminding her that she’ll never exactly fit in. This has caused her a daily worry about future events. She would be lying if she were to say that no one has ever given her an odd stare because of her appearance, and these looks only help to fuel her anxiety.
When her traits, good and bad, are mixed together, the outcome is better than it is worse. She has her good days, and she has her times of irritation. While every lion surely has a different overall opinion of her, she is satisfied with the many who believe her to be a good cub (even if she hates always being referred to as a cub).

╚═══════════════════════ ♦ ═══════════════════════╝
{ ...Warmth... }
xxxxxxxA strangely cozy feeling came over the lion cub. It felt as if she laid close in front of a small fire, its flames burning just close enough to her to provide a comfortable heat. There was nothing to see, only a starless black space. There was a silent beckoning, too abnormal to properly explain. It was like someone was calling out, but there was no voice to be heard. It was simply understood that there was something summoning her, though she could do nothing about it. Similarly, there were murmurs, quiet little whispers in the dark. What they were saying, she could not tell, but it felt like they were somehow holding her back, pulling her back. She could not feel her body, her thoughts were nil, and she could not breath. In retrospect, it would seem as though she was caught in a state of limbo, where she was neither living nor dead.
xxxxxxxAt the snap of a finger, little shadows danced in front of her eyes, existent or not. They were barely visible, and looked like wisps of smoke. They played out many small scenes, only bits and pieces of the full story. They made little sense, as the shapes that the shadows made were not clear. Sometimes, the whispers that accompanied the shadows almost seemed to correlate with them... but it made understanding the scenes no easier.
{ ...Death... }
xxxxxxxThe incomprehensible feeling had initially felt almost safe and welcoming, but it had then been suddenly yanked away, replaced by a nightmarish realm. The flames suddenly burned brighter. As they grew in size, their heat became more and more intense. The cub became uncomfortably hot. Meanwhile, the whispers became louder and louder, and more kept piling upon one another. There was no way to possibly understand them as they began screeching. The fire was now scorching. Still, the cub could do nothing. She didn’t even realize that she existed, that she was real. And so, the voices and the flames consumed her...
xxxxxxxThe cub reached out, tried to drag herself back to safety, but it evaded her. It felt like she’d been kicked in the ribs hard enough to shatter them. The warm fuzziness instantly faded, the beckoning ended, and time stopped for the cub. For what felt like an eternity, there was nothing. She was sleeping with no dreams. Her life, what little of it she had, had vanished. She had died; Or, more likely, she had always been dead, she had never had a beating heart or a breath of fresh air.
{ ...Light... }
xxxxxxxThe darkness that had always been for the cub was slowly replaced by a blindingly bright glow. The complete absence of color took over the entirety of her vision; There was an endless sea of white, where not a thing could be seen. A light tingle started in her paws, then traveled up her legs and throughout her body. A warm liquid flowed through her veins. Was this what it felt like to be... alive? It was a pleasant feeling. She still felt odd though, like she was floating in a vast, empty world all on her own. It was similar to the darkness she was exposed to only moments ago, but somehow, she felt more awake, and this time, there were no whispers clawing at her soul.
{ ...Life... }
xxxxxxxFor the first time, the cub came in contact with something real. Her paw’s padding brushed against something grainy and cold. Her paws pressed harder against the object, as she then realized that she was standing. Her eyes squeezed shut tighter than before, then opened, seeming to her as the first time. Blurred shadows overtook her vision, eventually clearing as her eyes adjusted to the lighting. She glanced around, seeing many figures standing in front of her and around her, staring at her and in her general direction. What were they looking at?
xxxxxxxBefore she could further question her situation, something rang in her head. She felt a pounding pain, beating her head from the inside out. This felt familiar. The air’s scent, the many faces, the feel of the sand beneath her feet... Her face cringed as strange memories flashed through her head. Each one was blurry and a mere two seconds long. The cub did not understand what she was seeing, nor did she wish to see more. However, as things go, more pictures and voices rushed through her head, until finally, she collapsed.
xxxxxxxHer body laid against the cool sandy shore. Her eyes remained open for a few seconds more before they closed. However, she did not wish for her eyes to be closed, she did not wish to be as helpless as she was in that moment. Her fur was dripping wet, she was cold, and yet she felt her insides burning; She was impossibly tired and her body was weak, and still she wanted to open her eyes, to see something other than nothing; She wanted to stand, to run, to smell the fresh air. For these reasons, she struggled to open her eyes. They fluttered open and shut multiple times before she gave up. She heard panicked cries of the lions around her, a noise that soon dispersed as she lost consciousness.
{ ...Awake... }
xxxxxxxHer eyes flashed open as she felt her stomach churning. A pain filled her body as she gagged and shook, unsure of what was happening. She stared at the light sand beneath her, paying no heed to the lions around her. A burning took over her throat as she curled around herself. Her stomach lurched one last time before her body quit its terrible trembling, and rather unexpectedly, she choked up a puddle of water in a gruesome manner. Afterwards, she drew in a long, deep breath, then proceeded to cough until her mouth was dry and her throat hoarse.
xxxxxxxThe small lion cub lifted her head after she was certain she was done coughing. It looked to be that very little time had passed since she fell unconscious. Her head slowly turned and twisted as she examined her surroundings. She found herself in a strange place, with a large body of water a few feet away from her. The damp room was full of shadows; It seemed to be a cave. Her attention was brought towards a ray of foggy light that shown into the dim area. Gloomy gray clouds covered the sky, almost entirely. The cub's gaze soon landed on a clearing in the clouds just above the horizon; The sky was painted a brilliant array of gold and orange and maroon. She momentarily stared at the scene before looking back to the cave's insides. The entire area was filled with lions of all kinds. She was fascinated with the many different colors and patterns of their fur. Everyone looked so diverse, yet were still clearly of the same kind.
{ ...Questioning... }
xxxxxxxHer eyes wandered directly to the side of her, where she spotted a lion cub... if it could be called a lion. The creature, they were various shades of blue, and looked to almost be sparkling or glowing. A strange substance fell from their head and neck; It wasn’t a mane, but more like... seaweed, possibly? No, that couldn’t possibly be it...
xxxxxxxHer gaze then shifted a bit further, where she saw multiple other cubs lay. One was black as night with a light atop their head, another was orange with red stripes and fin-like features sprouted from them. She looked to the other side of her, spotting a brown cub, also with fins, these ones sparkling gray-blue. Yet another cub had brightly colored green, plant-like features attached to him, and the last cub was pure white with strange growths and a pair of wings.
xxxxxxxThese cubs... they could not possibly ever be considered “normal”. Even just being “born”, the female cub could already see how different they were. She looked down at her own paws, sighing a breath of relief upon seeing that they were not very unusual. She fully sat up, ignoring the stares of the other lions, ignoring their loud chatter, ignoring their entire existence. After a slight moment of trouble, she managed to push herself onto her feet. She took her first step, and as wobbly as it was, she took another, and another, until she reached the edge of the lake’s water. She looked down into it. Her eyes widened as she witnessed her own face; What were these things protruding from her flesh?
xxxxxxxHer shocked stare was only interrupted when a droplet of water fell off a tuft of her fur and into the lake, causing a small splash followed by ripples. She pulled away, then began spinning in circles in order to examine her tail. Hers took on a whole new shape from the other lions, even compared to her brethren that had been thrown from the lake. She then caught a glimpse of the spines that projected from her back. She jumped, startled by her own appearance. Was that really her? What was she? ...Who was she?
xxxxxxxIt seemed her distress had been noticed, for one of the lions had approached her. She lifted her head, looking up at him. A large white lion stood in front of her. She noted how the colored parts of his fur resembled the sky hiding behind the cloud cover, as the sun was setting. He also had a pair of dark antlers atop his head; The cub wondered if that was a rare occurrence, as she hadn’t noticed it in any of the other lions. She was told his name: Ecko. The name rang throughout her ears; Something about it seemed familiar in a way she could not describe.
{ ...Fuzzy... }
xxxxxxxThe rest of that day is a hazy blur to the female cub. She had spent so much of the day delirious and confused that most of it was lost inside her memory. “Ecko, I believe, took myself and the other cubs to some sort of infirmary, possibly. I... I’m not really sure. It was one of the most stressful days of my life, honestly. I had no idea where I was, who I was, what I was, who anyone else was... the list goes on.
xxxxxxx“After that, I must have fallen asleep... That, or my memory is worse than I thought.”
{ ......... }
xxxxxxx“Do I have... a ‘family’?”
xxxxxxx“...Yes, my dear. The entire pride is your family, from now on and forever.”

╔═════════════════════════════════ ♦ Interpretation ♦ ═════════════════════════════════╗
(Note that while I wrote the story in a way to drag things out,
as it would seem to Coral that time is slowed, these events actually take
place rather quickly.)
Oopsie, little bit of outside commentary in the middle of my form uvu
This is mostly just explanation, because the story is a bit cryptic, and I don’t
think I very clearly explained things (which was ultimately my goal. The cubs'
births was a mysterious event, so I wanted my writing to have an unknown feel
to it). I wasn’t really sure if I wanted to explain things like this, but for the
sake of y’all knowing I wasn’t just writing absolute nonsense, I decided I might
as well type this up... Plus it adds more to my form haha.
With that all said, this also comes out to be a sort of list-esque summary,
separated by the “titles” of the different sections of the story. Hopefully this,
um, wasn't entirely unnecessary...
xx{Death} She’s been thrown out of the xxwater and onto land, where she then xxdies.
xx{Light} Cora’s body had been lifted xxinto the air as her eyes glowed white, xxand life returned to her.
xx{Life} Coraline lands back onto ground, xxthen falls unconscious.

The Pride: To Cora, the pride is a wonderful group of lions. She enjoys living among her fellow pride lions, believing the group to be very welcoming and kind. She has heard of lions who think differently, but she does not understand why. The pride has always been a home to her, and she is terrified that chaos could rain upon it with the Civil War going on.
Family:
Cora, as far as she knows, has no blood related family, but there are a few that she considers closer to her than anyone else, making them a family, in a sense.
The Sea Cubs: Cora feels that the other cubs are more connected to her than anyone else; After all, they all went through the same thing. She may not hang around them any more than any other lion, or treat them any differently, but she has always felt a little safer and a little more at home with them.
Ecko [male//adult//starry-knight]: In some small way, Cora sees Ecko as a sort of father figure. He provided comfort in her time of need back then, when she needed it the most. She feels as though she can relate to him, considering his similar lake experience. She often seeks him out for advice, and sometimes just likes being around him. Most of the time, she greets him by playfully tackling his legs, which is a form of affection. Cora is more comfortable around Ecko than anyone else, making him a very important part of Cora’s life.
Nyx [female//adult//Red weasel]: Cora met Nyx after she was assigned as her trainer. Initially, Cora was sort of afraid of being assigned someone who was rather mean- she'd heard stories that sent chills down her spine. One can imagine how glad she was to have gotten such a kind trainer. It didn't take long for Cora to become rather affectionate towards Nyx, as the cub tends to form feelings quickly. However, there is sometimes slight conflict, as Nyx uses her darkness and shadows to train, and Cora is, somewhat strangely, uncomfortable around shadows. Otherwise though, Cora has grown to see Nyx as almost being a mother figure, and she's one of the reasons Cora decided that she wanted to be a cub trainer.
Friends:
Cora is not one to become particularly close to a single or couple people, meaning she doesn’t have many ~best~ friends. However, she does have a mass amount of normal friends, most of which are cubs, and usually more energetic ones.
Xochipilli [male//cub//-Willow]: Xochi and Cora often play together. Xochi tries to scold her when she acts bossy or high-and-mighty, but it often ends in verbal attacks and him going to sulk somewhere. Cora goes to Xochi anytime she’s bored or wants to challenge someone to some sort of contest. She also tries to act like a big sister character to him, but it conflicts with Xochi’s big brother personality. That has lead to some arguments (or rather, Cora spewing rude words to no end while Xochi rolls his eyes).
Amoris [female//cub//Hobbit Geek]: Cora hasn't known Amoris for long, and therefore they don't know each other all that well. Because Amoris is a bit shy, Cora typically doesn't go to her for the sake of fun. In most instances where the two are hanging out, Cora spends much of the time trying to get Amoris to let loose a little.
Acquaintances:
As Coraline’s acquaintances are many, listing them all would be an impossibility. On just about any day, she can be found socializing with a lion(s) that she’s only recently met. Put simply, Cora is not a one-friend gal, so she’s always up for meeting new people.
Ethereal [male//adult//starry-knight]: Seeing as how he is the Alpha, Cora doesn’t necessarily have a choice but to look up to him. She is not necessarily well acquainted with him, nor does she know all that much about him. However, she wishes to one day be like him, in the way that he rules over many a people. While she wants to be able to speak to him and “learn the ways of a leader”, she’s too intimidated to talk to the lion who rules over all overs.
Kilan [male//adult//Tundra]: This is a very large lion, and although Cora tries to pretend that she’s not at all frightened by his massive size, she always finds herself shying away from him. However, she has a secret fantasy of riding on top his back, where she’d be able to see above all the other lions. She also highly admires his appearance. She thinks he’s one of the more “pretty” lions out there (that’s her way of a compliment).
Nunebus [male//adult//Squirrelspirit]: Cora once commented on how she was fascinated with the element of poison, which lead to another lion bringing up Nunebus’ existence. Cora immediately sought him out to have a chat. He was happy to answer her questions, and even asked about her elements and what it’s like possessing two. Since then, she runs up to him every time she sees him around. Still, she wouldn’t exactly consider herself friends with him, but more like “friendly acquaintances”.
Enemies:
There are a few cubs Cora doesn’t particularly like, but as far as she knows, she has no official enemies. She tends to get along with most other lions... more or less. Any time Cora and another lion don’t get along, it tends to just end in Cora yelling, and then either her, them, or both walking off and never talking again.
...
???: “I feel like... there is someone who I was once very close to that I am forgetting...”

Water:
Google wrote:a colorless, transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid that forms the seas, lakes, rivers, and rain and is the basis of the fluids of living organisms.
Lions of the Cosmos website wrote:A lion with the gift of water can: Move major amounts of water, pull water out from the ground, manipulate its shape, thrust it with great force. (Must have water nearby to use abilities)
Cora wrote:Water is one of the purest thing the universe has to give you. Water is calm and serene; It gives a sense of tranquility. However, it can also be violent and destructive.
Cora often practices with her water element. Though so far she has only managed squeeze the water from soil then weave small streams around things, she hopes to one day master the element. She would like to use it more for entertainment purposes than anything else; She can only imagine what it would be like to entertain a crowd with mystical tricks. However, she also wants to learn how to use it for offensive purposes, just in case. There's also the matter of knowing how to properly use her elements if she truly wishes to train others someday.
Ice:
Google wrote:frozen water, a brittle, transparent crystalline solid.
Lions of the Cosmon website wrote:A lion with the gift of Ice can: Manipulate water and freeze it, take the ice and use as sharp projectiles. Can create snow storms, blizzards, etc. Make the ground ground beneath them freeze up.
Coraline wrote:Ice is so much more beautiful than many perceive it to be. Even the icicles hanging off the edge of a tree that's long lost its leaves... Can you believe nature made that?
There hasn’t been as much time spent learning how to use her ice element as her water element, but that’s due to it being more advanced. Cora hopes that in the future, she’ll be able to create beautiful structures made of ice. Similarly to water, she also wants to learn its offensive purposes. She also wants to learn how to use it in a defensive manner, or possibly in a distracting way. She figures a small blizzard could easily throw off the enemies or provide covers for her fellow lions of the pride.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
“Am I purposely glorifying my elements? Perhaps. Bet you can’t prove it though.”
Once upon a time, Cora actually struggled a bit with accepting what her elements were. She would go on about how boring they were, and how she would have preferred poison or life. Her favorite element is actually flight though; She is extremely envious of those who can fly, and sometimes she gains a large distaste for lions with flight because of it.
Despite this, the cub has learned to embrace her elements. Nowadays, she tries to look at the bright side of them; She tries to find the positive in having water and ice. She does believe the two to compliment each other very well, at least.
“I’ve heard of this element called ‘cold’. From my understanding, it is like a more advanced version of ice... maybe? Anyway, I wish for this ‘cold’. I do wonder if there’s a way to obtain elements without having been born with them...”

Note 1: Yeah, “Cara” is a direct reference to the novel and movie Coraline, where the protagonist always has her name mistaken for “Caraline”. Just in case you somehow missed that, or were wondering...
Note 2: “Crystal” isn’t a last name- more like a second first name, or middle name. Originally, it was “Glacies” (meaning “ice” in French, I think?), but then I wasn’t sure if I liked that, so I looked for other names, ending up with like six or seven others, but I couldn’t choose which I liked best... Long story short, I read the names out to my brother (age twelve) and he chose for me <3

[I called this an “interview” for lack of a better word- ]
How would Coraline react to [xxx]?:
The death of a loved one:
(Assuming said loved one died somewhere other than the lake
where the souls of passed lions reside.)
Coraline’s always been too stubborn to immediately accept
something that she doesn’t like. It’d likely that, for a
multitude of days, she’d put on a brave face and pretend
nothing was wrong, until finally she broke down into tears. A
few days spent hiding from reality, and Cora would then be
able to continue everyday life, but of course, not without a
quiet sense of dread and depression ringing at the back of her
head for a while longer. Eventually, she'd get over it, but
there'd always be times when she's reminded of her fallen
loved one, making her grieve for an hour before the thoughts
of them were pushed to the back of her mind once again.
A natural disaster:
Cora has a strange fondness for just about anything that
nature creates. She’d thoroughly enjoy watching a hurricane
or erupting volcano- from a distance. Frankly, she’d be frozen
stiff it she were within range of the disasters. In the case of
a tidal wave or flood, she might try to put her elements to good
use, but be it way too out of her control, she’d run for her life,
and probably refuse to go anywhere near water for a few weeks
after. An earthquake, depending on how bad, would affect her
the least; She wouldn’t be any fascinated by it, and she
wouldn’t be as afraid as she would be in the case of previously
stated natural disasters. However, she’d still slide around like
mad as she tried to hastily find cover. Meanwhile, a forest fire
would spark a more terrified reaction in her, as she hates fire,
and would not like to ever witness it in mass quantities.
Meeting an old friend or enemy not seen for years:
In the case of a friend, there’s a 50/50 chance in what Cora
would do, depending on the lion and the situation. In one
case, she’d awkwardly stand around, wondering if she should
even really interact, until ultimately she shies away. In the
other case, she’d excitedly bound over to the friend, tackle
them, then continue to happily throw a million words at them.
If the person were an enemy, there’s no doubt that Coraline
would pretend like it didn’t bother her. She’d spin around, try
to walk off, stop, look back, shake her head, continue
walking... but then, finally, she’d turn around again, run
towards the person, and randomly begin yelling at them and
explaining every reason why she does not like them.
An unexpected kindness or compliment:
She’d accept it, naturally. There’s not much more to say;
She’d say something along the lines of, “Thanks, I know,”
then lift her head in a prideful way and continue about her
day. Though, if truly unexpected (somehow), Cora would
likely get quite a bit flustered and just try to brush it off.

Attitudes toward [xxx]:
Self:
This is a subject Cora has not spent much time on. In general, one could say that she likes herself; She doesn’t see a reason not too. However, that’s not to say that there aren’t times where she grows a bit frustrated with herself, likely for pushing someone too far or for choosing to do something stupid that gets her in trouble.
Friendship:
“It’s a wonderful thing. I couldn’t live without it.”
Cora is much too social and outgoing to ever say anything other than just that.
Love:
“Ah, well... It’s icky, but at the same time, it’s kind of... cute?”
She’s too young to qutie understand the concept of love. She doesn’t enjoy witnessy “lovey-dovey” acts between two other lions, but sometimes, there’s a little voice in her head cooing over it. She likes to flirt, sure, but she does it to tease people, not to express her feelings towards them. Overall... she has no idea how she feels about love.
Family:
“I only wish I had one of my own.”
Seeing a happy family makes Coraline jealous. Jealous enough to wish they weren’t such a happy family. Anytime she has one of these horrible thoughts though, she catches herself and shakes her head, reminding herself that is not an evil villain bent on destroying everyone’s happiness. Besides that, most of the time, she’s just glad that there’s a few individuals close enough to her to almost be called her actual, real family.
Belief in superstitions:
“Haha... I don’t... believe any off that lame stuff... hah...”
Contrary to her own belief, she tends to unconsciously take in anything that are typically seen as “bad omens”. Anything other than that though, she doesn’t seem to believe. On the other hand, ghost stories have always sent chills down her spine...
Morals:
Coraline certainly knows what's right and wrong, but does she always follow the rules? Not really. For the most part, Cora's a good kid, and she does not want to cause any harm or grief. She, obviously, would never consider murder. She wouldn't even steal, not something expensive or sentimental anyway. She has, however, committed the crime of minor theft...
"The gem was so pretty, how could I refuse~? ...Sorry."
