Aatu
You know, when I first started applying for them, I was a little disappointed/annoyed about the fact that they already had the name, but the more I use it, the more it grows on me and makes me see how well it fits Aatu. So I just wanted to thank you for choosing the perfect name for this bab.

No gender, goes by they/them pronouns.

•Personality, Tendencies & More:


Aatu is a very mischievous and curious creature; they love to prank or mess about with innocent passers-by. Due to their almost coloured-statue-like features, they can imitate a figurine or a toy quite efficiently, which makes it easy to pretend to be innocent and 'totally-not' sly. Their curiousness has often played the part in "Curiosity killed the cat", in which case the cat is replaced with the Gryphion they are - they're always poking their head into boxes that they shouldn't open, or open doors and discovering trapdoors under carpets. Obviously - curiosity wins over reason, and they end up exploring places that haven't been visited for years - all covered in soot and grime. But, as the famous phrase goes, satisfaction does indeed bring the 'cat' back - usually Aatu will return from these adventures covered in dust and cobwebs and other particles such as lint, sneezing continuously. It's one easy way of identifying places that need cleaning - seeing as they have an allergy to dust, Aatu will sneeze until either the space is clean or they're far away enough not to get affected.
This leads on to Aatu's self-control - which is very low. For example; leave a cookie on the table? You turn around for your glass of milk, turn back and budum-dum-tss it's gone: either on the floor smashed to smithereens or in the Gryphion's tummy. And of course you can sense that mischievous secret smile they have under their mask. That said, Aatu is also quite a big risk-taker, and combining this with their ambitiousness does not result in a very good outcome: either they'll get hurt, or their pride will be damaged. Speaking of being ambitious - Aatu is also very determined, headstrong and - you guessed it - stubborn. A terrible mix for a curious, mischievous, risk-taking, ambitious creature that refuses to back down.
Contrary to this, they are very kind, courteous and tend to be honest - if Aatu has done something, like accidentally knock over a vase, they will own up by either hanging their head in shame or leading you to the mess, so you can always count on them to be honest with you - after the so-called 'bad deed' has been accomplished. As for the courteousness, their respect will change dependant on how they are treated by the person or animal/creature - if one was to continuously poke their finger into Aatu's mask, Aatu will proceed to either charge at them to spook them or initiate their glowing mask colours. They rarely ever use their hind legs to get away from these annoying things - in fact, they hate violence, and avoid it as much as possible. They're quite the pacifist.
A favourite past-time of Aatu's is sitting on high shelves or cupboards and batting people's heads as they walk through the door. Thankfully they don't have such sharp claws in their front legs as they do in their hind legs, so the 'victim' - so to speak - doesn't get hurt, much. Aatu couldn't've cared less - they just roll about on their back giggling silently!
Unfortunately, they also are quite impatient, and can be very moody if they haven't accomplished something. These moods don't last very long though - because the next minute Aatu's already found a new cupboard to explore, or a cookie has been used to entice them!!

•History, Background:


The first we hear of Aatu is where they miraculously appeared without a given cause or explanation. Aatu was discovered one day wandering the streets of some abandoned village. Having been mistaken as a bobtail cat because of their sooty, dark complexion, they had gotten into many fights with dogs, other cats, and rodents - all of which Aatu had run away from due to their strict pacifist policy.
They had managed to get quite far on their own - they had found a locked house which still had the remnants of old furniture, and had settled in there, opting to go out everyday in search of berries and other foodstuffs. However, as winter dawned they found it more and more difficult to keep their hunger satisfied, and within the first few weeks had become as skinny as a twig.
Thankfully, they were happened upon by an excited adventurer, who decided to take in the little creature and nurture it back to health. Though Aatu is still considered wild, they enjoy loitering around in their rescuer's house and exploring the nearby public library - it's a grand big place with lots of hiding places, and of course, bookshelves, from where Aatu effectively imitates the flying books from Harry Potter and mildy alarming the innocent bystanders who only came in search of a book to read or do some homework.

•Other Quirks & Info:


¬Aatu is allergic to dust - they'll get terrible fits of sneezes whenever there is a place full of dust.
¬They are a pacifist and hate violence, but won't be afraid to frighten someone if they feel endangered.
¬Their favourite flower is Aster, mainly because pinky and purply colours really suit the Gryphion's taste. They also like the smell of these flowers; thank god they don't have an allergy to pollen too!
¬They are strongly susceptible to 'brain freeze', hence anything icy or very cold should definitely be avoided for Aatu's sake.
¬Aatu loves the library. They love the smell, the atmosphere, the exciting doorways and hidden hallways and the tall, old, oaken shelves stock-filled with books of all smells, shapes and sizes. And of course, they like the library because it's a perfect place to scare people.
¬Aatu's favourite fruit is lime; they like the sharp, zesty taste that is more acute than that of a lemon's. They also like the scent of lime, and after eating the inside of the citrus fruit, they will always rub their body against it a few times for good measure.
¬When agitated, Aatu will either pace back and forth, or they will fidget; they won't be able to sit still, they'll jump at the smallest sound or movement, etc. They are also prone to scratching the floor during these times - it's thought that it may be possible that they suffer from some form of mild anxiety.
¬Aatu is actually a mute - they cannot communicate in any verbal form, unfortunately, and though this makes it difficult to understand them at times, it is also a very great advantage that they herald should they be bothered at any point in time by an over-zealous, nosy creature. However, they are fully capable of understanding what one says.

•Special Abilities:

¬When alarmed or angered, the circles/squares on their mask glow brightly to frighten off others. They can also act as a communicator - for example, if confused or questioning, the blue circle/square will light up as Aatu cocks his head or appears not to understand.
¬They have an amazing ability to manipulate plants - whenever they want to rescue a flower or some other diseased greenery, they will concentrate the little power they have to transfer some of their energy into the plant. While this is happened, their mask always emits some sort of warm glow.
¬Their mask gives off an eerie glow at night - firstly, this acts as a bit of a flashlight, but also, Aatu is an excellent candidate for seeing in the dark.

some new characters have been added to the kennels and they are now available for adoption.
I will likely be adding some more of mine soon. I have a couple random designs I never used that I'd like to donate, but I'd prefer to revamp some of them before I allow them to be adopted. I'm also downsizing on my characters right now, so some of my personal ocs with stories/fleshed out characters *might* be donated as well, but they will more likely go to close friends and/or people I know a little.

no problem. c: I know it really sucks when you want a character really bad but you don't have enough time to make a form, so I try to be flexible with the amount of time I give people so that doesn't happen.
