Meet Kody.
Kody is calm, level-headed, but very fierce and brave.
I am running hard, and as fast as I could, my large paws making a dull thudding sound on the grassy, plains ground. My large, heavy horns seem to drain my energy and I feel like I am dragging. However, the scent of a herd of antelope in the near distance keeps me running. The late night wind blows through my thick mane, and I love the feeling. I slow down to a trot, beginning to conserve a lot of energy in case the antelope scatter and run. I don't think I can go another night without a successful hunt and living off a few mouthfuls of carrion.
The moon shines down upon the herd of antelope and I smile, my long fangs glinting in the light. Some of the animals were laying down and dozing, others were standing and grazing. I unsheathe my long, powerful claws and crouch down, creeping forward slowly and silently. Finally, I am close enough to one that was grazing. Fortunately, I'm downwind from it, and the antelope hasn't noticed me. I bunch my muscular legs underneath my body, and spring. The antelope lifts his head and lets out a loud alarm causing the rest of its herd to jump up and flee. It is too late for my victim and I easily crush it's spine and end its life with a quick bite. I feel very proud of myself, a young parduseros hunting on my own, and being successful.
I drag my kill back to where I have been staying. It is a good sized den by a small lake. I drag the antelope under a group of bushes and settle down to eat. The meat is tender and flavorful, possibly even more so that I had killed his meal by myself.
I can feel the air getting cooler, and I have been searching for some feathers and leaves. There is some sparkly dirt by my den, so I role in that every once in a while! I met this really pretty female the other day while she was hunting. I watched her hunt, and she was absolutely magnificent! I bet it was because her horns are not as heavy as mine... Well... I talked to her. She seemed to like me... but didn't say much. I saw some other males eyeing her as well, I have a feeling I may have some competition.
Today is the day... I will try to gain that female's affections, but I have a feeling I will have to fight for her. The other males look pretty strong, but I think I can take them! As I walk over to her, she seems to snub me. So, I decide to sit and wait. I don't have to wait long though, and another male soon joins me. We glare at each other for a moment, and look back at the female. She just stares back, as if she is expecting something. The other male has clearly seen more than I have, and knows what to do. I feel his great weight crash into my side, and in a moment we are facing off, circling each other viciously. I decide to make the first move after a while, and go to head but him. He meets my horns and we are standing and pushing at each other, our horns starting to get locked. I shake my head, and can feel his head getting wrenched as I shake. I hope I can get out of a lock if we happen to get stuck to each other!
In a moment, we are rolling on the ground, clawing at each other. I tear my claws down my opponents belly and I can feel him groan in pain. I look up at the female a few times, and she seems amused by this whole act. Finally, after what seems like forever, the other male's attacks seem to get weaker and less planned. He gives up promptly, letting me do with him what I will. I scratch him a few more times and start to struggle to unlock from his head. Fortunately, I manage and break free. I roar and the male scurries off, bleeding and torn. Then I look back at the female, who is now standing. She nods as if she is approving and walks up to me. I rub against her and we set off, hoping to find a den and a territory far enough from everything else.
