Name: Eli Erasmus Renard
Gender: Male
Breed/Species: Husky/Wolf Hybrid
Personality: Eli has quite the calm and quiet exterior, usually wanting to bury his nose in a book rather than talk to people, but on the inside, he's actually a ticking time bomb of humor, happiness and energy. He has fears of showing his true self though, as all his life his parents have demanded excellence. The moment Eli showed that he is a bit above the average intelligence, they made him out to be a child prodigy and knocked his childhood out the window. Private schools, tutors, state science fairs, he had little to no time for personal enjoyment. In all truth, Eli is no genius, but has a wonderful work ethic that has enabled him to do exceptionally well. He doesn't have the heart to tell his parents that the pedestal they've put him on is far from where he wants to be. Their dreams of turning him into a world-renowned scientist are about as far as he could get from doing what he really loves: music. He is very passionate about music, all types of it. He loves the beauty of Beethoven to the rock of the 80s to the techno of the modern age. He has self-taught himself the guitar and the piano in his precious few spare hours, but quietly agonizes over his mediocre skills. Now that he is enrolled in a prestigious collage, far from home, he still can't quite make himself take the music classes he desperately wants. The last thing in the world he wants is his parents to be disappointed in him. So he hides his true self; the music-loving, talkative, energetic Eli, and displays the anti-social, quiet, study-obsessed mask to the world, trying to fit small pieces of his true self within what spare time he has.

Background/History: (This is an event from his middle school days. Poor Eli has a nasty habit of getting himself in bad situations, which usually involve long-term problems for him, much to his parent's disappointment...)
"Hey, Bookworm!!" That annoyingly familiar voice rings in my ears, causing me to involuntarily cringe. Why does he have to keep picking on me? It wasn't my fault that he tripped over my paw on the first day of school.
"Gotten the water out of your ears from our last gym class yet, Bookworm?" Hayner asks with a cruel snigger. We'd had swimming for gym yesterday, you see, and Hayner had an obsession over dunking me underwater. "I'm all dry now, thanks." I reply as calmly as I can, but that seems to just encourage him.
"So the Bookworm is turning into a smart aleck, is he?" I refuse to look at him, attempting to continue to read the book in my paws,
Notes Through Time: A History of Music, but ending up reading the same line over and over instead. Maybe he'll back off if I seem unconcerned. Suddenly, the book is wrenched out of my paws, and I look up after it to be met with Hayden's anger-filled eyes.
"You listenin' to me, runt? I asked if you were turning smart aleck on me. Are you?" My ears flatten against my skull as I swallow, hoping he can't hear the rapid beat of my heart. "No, Hayner." I feel a quick flash of pride at how I was able to keep my voice steady, but that moment is gone the instant pain lashes through my scruff. Within a couple of seconds, I'm being dragged by the scruff toward the library bathroom, Hayner grinning with glee.
"Smart alecks around here get special treatment. Wanna see what it is?" I have a bad feeling that I'm going to have a whole different type of water problem by the time he's finished...

Forty-five minutes later, I slowly turn the knob to the back door of my house, trying to be silent. My parents can't find out about what happened, or they'll report it to the principal, thus making me out to be a snitch. So until I can get upstairs and finish drying my fur and come up with an excuse why my glasses are shattered, I can't let them see me. Succeeding in quietly opening the door, I carefully tiptoe inside, shutting the door behind me. Unfortunately, I wasn't really thinking, and so the door shuts a bit louder than I intended.
Eli? The sound of my mother's voice makes me flinch. "Y...yes, mom?" I answer, knowing I can't escape her now.
"You were supposed to be home twenty minutes ago!" In she walks, surprise crossing her face at the sight of me.
"Eli! What happened?" Quicker than I can blink, she's at my side, examining my damp fur.
"What a state you're in! What on earth did you do to yourself? In the slight pause, I open my mouth to speak, but she doesn't give me the chance. A sigh passes her lips, an exasperated expression replacing the one of concern.
Well whatever it was you did, you need to go clean up. You've kept your math tutor waiting for the past ten minutes already. Those problems won't work themselves, now will they?" She smiles at me, as if that makes everything okay, and walks away to return to whatever more important thing she had been taking care of. Even if I hadn't been planning on telling her what happened, I can't help but feel a twinge of hurt. But, the hurt quickly disappears as I head for the stairs. After all, this isn't the first time my tutor's time has been more important than me.

(And here's another event from a couple years after the first.)
Here I go. I'm finally doing it. I'm finally going to tell them what I've want to tell them for years: I want to be a musician. So, with a listing of various music tutors in hand, I walk down the stairs. My heart is pounding, my mouth going dry. This could be my last chance to do this. In three more years, I'll be finished with high school and going to collage, and by then, it'll be too late. I reach the bottom of the stairs, my hands shaking from nervousness. What will they say? Will they be upset that I don't want to become a scientist? Will they simply tell me I can't? Or...maybe they'll be okay with it?
"Did you contact the school?" My mom's voice reaches my ears from the living room.
"Yes. They said if he keeps up his outstanding grades, scholarships will be pouring in before we know it. Once he is finished with high school, I think he will have no problem getting into Rutherford.""At this rate, he'll be finished with high school a year early!" The pride is unmistakable in my mother's voice.
"I can't believe that a son of ours is going to Rutherford! Could you have even guessed that Eli was going to turn out to be a prodigy?" R-Rutherford? My ears flatten back against my head. Rutherford is one of the most prestigious collages in the country. If they think I have it in me to make it there...They would be so disappointed if I didn't go and make the most of my knowledge. A musician doesn't need to go to Rutherford, doesn't need excellent grades, and certainly doesn't have the future my parents want. I turn back toward the stairs, tossing the list in the nearby trash bin on the way. I won't be needing it.

Use: Eli has truly won a place in my heart. I've looked through the kennels a few times recently, and each time, he's caught my eye. I would love to be able to use him in various stories and art. I'm not much of an artist, so the art would not be very substantial, but I love to write stories about my characters, so he will definitely not just sit in a corner and collect dust.

Age: 19

Likes: Of course, Eli likes anything and everything to do with music. His favorite instruments to listen to are most stringed instruments, from guitar to harp, but his definite favorite is the violin. He doesn't truly have a favorite band, artist, or song, as he likes to have a clear, open mind with music untainted by preferences, but he would admit to really enjoying the band Disciple and the artist Bryan Adams. On a non-musical note, he really does enjoy reading, he just wishes he had more time to read fiction, especially adventure stories. Eli loves the season of autumn, everything about it! He likes the way the leaves change color, how the weather changes, and how time seems to slow down to the sluggish flow of the winter months. Autumn is also the time of caramel apples, his all-time favorite treat. He also likes anything creative. Be it music, art, or writing, he loves to enjoy the works of imagination. On campus and in serious mode, he is currently working toward a degree in biotechnology, a choice heavily hinted by his parents as being one they'd prefer, but it isn't entirely uninteresting. His favorite course has, so far, been a side course he is taking in medieval history (a course his parents have no knowledge of).

Dislikes: Eli has a great dislike of water, to the point of having a near fear of it. He's never liked swimming, even less when the bully of his younger years would pin him down in the water during gym class. Eli isn't very fond of technology either, only because technology isn't fond of him. Everything electrical that he touches seems to break. He can't stand his clumsiness either, which only seems to surface itself at the worst possible moments. Another thing he hates is worms, and anything that is slimy. He's never been good with slimy things, ever since the incident when he was five when he thought that he had found a gummy worm....
~
Appearance: Eli is quite the handsome young wolf, in the opinion of many females. While not the most muscular or athletic, his build is lean and well proportioned. His grey fur is about medium in length and thickness, and quite soft to the touch. His fur is almost completely grey, except for his paws. Both front paws and his left hind paw are all dipped in white, while his right hind paw is black. His tail shows his mother's side, in being a classic curled example of a husky tail. On the topside of his tail, from the base to the tip, is a black stripe, and a thick ring of white is emblazoned around the entirety of his tail a couple of inches back from the tip. On his head his fur spikes out like hair over his eyes, often times getting the the way of his glasses. On the subject of his glasses, they are a small pair that snugly rest on his muzzle. He is not blind without them, but things do become a bit fuzzy without their aid. His eyes are deep red in color, which is unusual but handsome in combination with the grey of his fur. Eli is quite fond of the piercings he's had put into his right ear: three silver rings on the left side of his ear and one on the right. It's given him a mature look that helps to break him from the "bookworm" stereotype he's gained.

Mate: Eli hopes to someday find himself a nice girl, someone who will understand him and to help him gain the confidence to unlock his true self.
