Yes. Yes you should

Edit: Gah, sorry I forgot to judge yesterday, there's a lot on my mind right now. I'll try to get the forms for the first two judged by the end of today(and hopefully by the end of the day I won't feel nauseated anymore)

Why do you want this zver?:
I've been trying to figure out what animal he's based on, but I can't! Anyway, I want him because of the contrast in his pelt. He is absolutely gorgeous. His personality base makes me smile for some reason, maybe because it describes a horse I used to work with.

What will you do with it if you win?:
I will definitely join the shiny new Zver roleplay. I might write a story about him, and might draw some pictures, but those aren't definite.

~General Zver Information~

Name of Zver:
Duncan This is subject to change!

Age:
One year tomorrow

Birthdate:
April 12, 2010

~Physical Characterstics~

Height:
3 feet at the shoulder

Length
6 feet from head to tail

~Emotional Characteristics~

Personality:
Duncan is friendly, but extrememly shy and easily frightened. Many times, he is called jumpy. which fits him almost perfectly. Duncan doesn't like loud noises or sudden movements, so the city is not a very good place for him. This zver is easily stressed, and has been known to be a bit snappy, especially if he is cornered or feels threatened. Duncan is claustrophobic, so being caged or confined in any way sends him into a panic, which in turn makes him aggressive. When he isn't stressed or scared, Duncan is almost like a housecat. He loves to have his fur stroked, and will instantly relax if his ears are rubbed. He is friendly with everyone, but doesn't quite trust humans, instead he just allows them to give him attention before moving on. He is intelligent, so he knows to remain in motion and stay away from places with a large number of human inhabitants. He doesn't like domestic dogs, he feels their energy and blind devotion are wasted on humans. BE aware that this is only a basic profile of his personality. Duncan's personality changes depending on environment and circumstances.

Introduction:
Blackcoated Lies wrote:
The days and nights blend together...

I pace back and forth in my cage, there is nothing else to do.

Back and forth.
Back and forth.

All day every day. My only reprieve is when the scientists come and get me, and that is not much of a reprieve.

A strange contraption put over my mouth that makes it impossible to defend myself.
Needle pricks.
My body pulled in strange ways.

When will all of this stop? I stop pacing and look out of the door of my cage, down the brightly lit hallway. Cages line the walls on both sides, and the whitecoats walk up and down.

What time is it?
Night or day?
How long have we been here?

Does it really even matter? I continue my pacing, listening to the steady beat of my paws on the hard concrete floor. Thud. Thud. Thud. Have my paws always been so heavy? I don't know. I can't remember much of my days before this place. A loud noise makes me jump, a loud slam of a door. The sounds of feet on the floor. Yelling. What's going on? A loud, insistant buzzing noise starts, making my kind yowl and bark in pain. It hurts our ears. It drives us mad. I start to dig at the floor until my paws bleed. I have to get out. I will get out.

I'm not going to get out of here.

No! I have to escape, or I'll lose my mind! The yelling gets louder. The buzzing continues. I can't dig anymore, the pain is too great. Have to get out. My door is opened, food hurriedly pushed in. The feeder moves on, but I am focused on the door. I didn't hear the click that signifies the lock engaging.

Did it click? Is it locked?

I know to wait until the feeder is gone to check. I don't want to get caught. Don't want to go underground. I lower my head and take a bite. Dry dog food. Grainy. Disgusting.

Energizing. Hunger quenching.

I eat all of it, ignoring the bland taste. The feeder leaves us, the hall goes dark. The buzzing stops. All is quiet. I kick my bowl, it skitters across the hard floor, the noise echoing. I wait. Nothing happens. Now's my chance. I walk to the door and peer out. Lights are dim. Whitecoats are gone. Now's my chance. I push the door, it glides open silently on greased hinges.

Open hallway. Freedom.

I step out, my heart pounding in my ears. Thudump-thudump-thudump. I'm in the hallway now, away from my cage. Every sounds makes me flinch, every noise scares me. MY paws are quiet now. Barely any noise from me as I stalk down the hall. Others of my kind see me. Watch me.

Should I free them too?

No time. Keep moving. I make it to the end of the hall, where a set of double doors loom before me. Gently poke them with a paw. One swings a little. Push harder. Door swings open and I run through it before it can close.

Another room. Need to get outside.

I spin towards another door and make my way towards it. Suddenly it flies open and a wall of whitecoats step out. They see me and lunge for me. I leap out of the way of most of them and run through them, but one manages to get a rope around my neck. It tightens. I'm caught. I see a flash of something metal that makes my heart race and one of the whitecoats kneels at my side.

Needle prick. Darkness. Nothing.

I wake up, open my eyes. Walls are stone. Floor is stone. There is no natural light here. Where am I? I look around me. Cages. Empty cages. A desk sits in front of me, against the wall. A whitecoat is leaning over it. A guard? For me. Need to get out. How? A door slams and the whitecoar jumps up. Nervous. Who is it? They exchange noises that I don't understand. Only a few words register, only because I've heard them so many times.

Metta. Zver. Escape.

Escape. That's what I have to do. I begin circling my cage, my paws heavy again. Thud. Thud. Thud. This cage is smaller. My tail brushes the bars. Gotta get out. Gotta escape.

Escape.

Escape...

Escape.

I'll have to be more careful this time. Not get caught. Fight if I do. I keep pacing. Cage seems smaller. Fear rises in my throat. Space is too small to pace. Can't stop pacing.

The walls are closing in.

Panic. A growl comes to my lips. My pacing picks up into tight, fast circles. Thu-thud. Thu-thud. Thu-thud. Faster. Faster. The whitecoat keeps making those odd noises. The one she's talking to is not a whitecoat. A blackcoat. Shiny blackcoat. I stop pacing, eyes on the shiny. Only parts are shiny. His waist. Chest. Feet. Whitecoat sounds nervous. Blackcoat's bark is deeper. Darker. Danger. I try to bark a warning. Whitecoat looks. I bark again. Blackcoat growls something and Whitecoat steps away from the bars. I bark again, more insistant this time.

Danger. Danger. Danger.

Why isn't she moving? She seems nervous. I'm confused. I don't like this. Start pacing again. Cage is small. Too small. I whine. Can't help it. Cage is small. So small. Another whine. Blackcoat barks something, quieter. Whitecoat answers, cheerful now. Footsteps. She's leaving. Blackcoat watches until she's gone. Turns. Kneels in front of my cage.

Stop pacing. Look at him. Challenger.

I stop. Still not looking. Body quivering. Lay my ears back. Bare my teeth. He wont leave. Turn towards him. Still not looking. I growl, trying to scare the Blackcoat away. He ignores the warning. Does he understand? I try again, showing more teeth this time. Still nothing. Blackcoat opens his mouth and growls at me. Two words reach me. I understand them, but not the meaning behind them.

Help. Escape.

I brace my paws. Lift my gaze. Meet his. Something slams into me. Emotions churn. Can't look away. Fear. Panic. Confusion. Blackcoat yelps and scrambles back away from my cage. He feels it too. I feel what he feels. Help. Escape. What does that mean? I look at him. He looks back. Emotions run back and forth on an invisible thread. A current. A bond.

Bond. The bond?

I've heard of this. A bond. The bond. Insistant. Permanent. I hate permanent things. Blackcoat looks just as confused as I am. Slamming door makes both of us jump. Footsteps. Female barks and growls. Blackcoat looks up at Whitecoat. "He doesn't need that much of a dose." I leap back, my eyes on him. I understand him. Whitecoat whines softly, changing pitch. Can't understand her. "I don't need him sleeping. Just calm. Give me the cage key. And that needle." Needle?!

Forget needle. Key.

Forget needle. I can't. Whitecoat hands him the key. And the needle. Needle. Sharp. I growl and step back, my ears flat against my skull. No needle. No prick. Blackcoat moves towards me. Needle vanishes. I can't relax. Suddenly he lunges. I snap. Teeth meet flesh. Go through. Blackcoat grunts, swings his arm up and over.

Prick. Warmth.

I release him and stumble back. Warmth spreads up my arm. Across my back. I try to pace, but find I can't. Legs wont work. Body wont work. Regret. Not mine. His. Legs fold up under me and I go down, forced to lay down. Getting tired. So tired.

So tired. Must sleep. Must...sleep.

I watch as the Zver's head hits the pavement and his eyes drift closed. He's asleep. I turn and glare at the scientist, the one who prepared it. "I didn't say I wanted to knock him out." She looks sheepish, but doesn't say anything about it.

Freedom. I must help him to his freedom.

Peace flows through me, but I know it isn't mine. I didn't want this. Don't need a bond. I turn to watch him sleep again. It pains me to see him in a cage. I could feel the panic. Is he claustrophobic? Does Metta realize this? I shake my head slightly. It's not her problem. I glance back at the woman in the white coat. Marion, according to her nametag. "What did you give him?" She looks at the tube on her desk. Does she not know? "A generic barabiturate. Sorry, had to check the spelling to make sure I pronouced it right." Generic? They didn't even use the real thing? I ask her about it, opening the cage to remove him. "No, he's allergic to the name brands." Suddenly she reaches under the desk and pulls out a large dog crate. "Metta believes your here to get the shepherd I had to put down last week. He will fit in here, you'll just have to watch his tail. Flash your badge to get out without having this checked." I nod, lifting the heavy animal. Without a word, Marion helps me gently put the zver into the crate. She closes the door, then walks down the hall, grabbing a small plastic card from an empty cage. She heads back towards us, handing me the card when she could. I look down at it and lift an eyebrow.

Image

I smile, my eyes on the name. Duncan. I think I'll keep it. "Hand that to them and let them scan the barcode. There's another one on the side of the crate. If you let them scan it, they'll let you go." I nod, affixing the badge onto the crate, and we make our way out of the basement. No one looks twice at me until I reach the counter. A bored looking scientist looks up and holds his hand out. "Badge please." I hand him mine and the one for "Duncan", feeling my heart pick up speed. He scans it and glances at the crate, still looking bored. Lifting a scanning gun, he runs the barcode under it. Beep. Handing both badges back to me, he gestures me closer. "I need to scan the crate." I nod, lifting it and placing it on the desk, hoping Duncan doesn't wake up. The scientist scans it, then reads whatever pops up on his computer. "Duncan should rest for a few hours. Once he's awake, you can feed and water him as usual." He stamps both my hand and the crate, and waves me off. I head out the doors towards my truck, the heavy crate in my hand. Opening the passenger side door, I push the crate into the seat. After securing it and closing the door, I climb in and start the truck. As we pass the gate, a loud alarm bell fills the air, along with what would normally be a chilling announcement.
"A Zver has escaped! Red alert! A Zver has escaped! We continue on, unscathed by what must be a frantic search going on in the facility.

Noise. A low roar beneath me.

I slowly open my eyes, blinking a few times to clear them. I'm in a cage again, but this one is much different. No metal. No concrete. Try to move. Do anything. I can't. It's. Too. Small. Pressing my muzzle against the door, I whine lowly, letting Blackcoat know I'm not comfortable. How do I know it's him? I can just feel it. I see a flash of white flesh, and then the door springs open. I slide out, looking around at my new surroundings.

No plain white wall. No bars.

I climb completely out of the tiny cage, bracing my paws on the plastic thing in front of me. I stretch, but my head hits an invisible barrier. What is this place?! "Hey now, Duncan, don't break the glass." Glass. It's called glass. I nose it again. Cold. Smooth. Glass. Wait, what did he call me?

Duncan.

Duncan. Not my name. Is it? I look over at him. He's relaxed. Carefree. My mind no longer screams danger. Now it's chanting one word. Freedom. Am I free? Did he free me? I look out of the portal in the door. Flashes of green. We're moving. Fast. The thing around us continues to growl. Steady. Unchanging. What is it? A loud crash behind me makes me jump and a growl slips from between my teeth. I'm free. Not going back. I look to see what it was. The cage. It's gone. I sit where it was, watching the green wall rush past. Where am I? Green walls? I lift a paw to touch, but encounter more glass. Still smooth. Still in the way. Blackcoat chuckles behind me. Something beeps and the glass moves down, away from my paw. Movement. It's alive. I growl at it, ready to attack, but Blackcoat's hand on my pelt soothes me. "It's only a window, Duncan." That word again. Duncan. Not me. Doesn't fit. I try to recall my name, but can't. Duncan. Not right.

It will have to work for now.

I move towards the open...window and sniff. Air screams up my nose and I jerk my head back. What an odd feeling! I lean forward again. Air hits my nose. Cool. Always there. I lean forward more, my whole head it out now. Wind hits my ears. Blows them back. Odd, but not painful. I open my mouth to pant and my tongue flies out of the side. Feels...good. I'm enjoying this. My tail starts to wag, an instictive thing. This emotion. I've never felt it before. Light. Open.

Happy

So....much....formatting...Anyway, I figure this would be a good place to end it. I feel like it's waaaayyyy too long, but I've never written like this before. It just felt like it fit this Zver.
Criticism is welcome, especially on the story! Main thing I'd like to know: Should I finish it?

Beautiful form. I especially loved the way you formatted your story. This writing style is very nice.

Zver you want:
    CC9334
Name:
    Zala
Reason you want it:
I had my reason typed out, then IE froze and I lost it. Anyways, let's see if I can remember it all.
When the limit was still only at three Zvers, I had decided on the personalities and partners of each of the three Zvers I would go for. When deciding on which Zvers to go for, I've been looking at their write-ups first, testing to see how they'd match up with my plans. Then I'd look at the design to see if it really 'fit' what I had in mind. With the increased limit, I've been considering the new possbilities. This Zver, with his beautiful natural colours, didn't seem to fit any I'd previously set. Except just the last day or two I realized he did fit one I'd considered. He's really growing on me all ready, and he'll definitely be different from the others. I decided a wee bit late that I wanted to go for this fellow, so I'm really grateful you're letting me try for him Metta.
What will you do with it if you win?:
He'll join the team that I intend to write about once I've worked out personalities, backgrounds, and jobs. And names, those are always difficult.
He may or may not end up in the roleplay, we'll see how much time I have.
Personality:
    Notes:
This male is actually very young,
probably less than a year old.
He appeared almost domestic when he first arrived,
though he didn't take to confinement well.
He is known to snap at those who get too close
so it is recommended that you maintain a safe distance
and let him come to you.
Zala is an odd case. He doesn't like being alone, and almost always wants to be in the company of someone he likes. Except he gets nervous and anxious when around others, with very few exceptions. He often acts out in these cases, especially if he really doesn't like the ones around him. For this reason, he is anxious to find his bond partner, in the hopes that he'll be comfortable around them and won't feel alone anymore.

Zala enjoys exploring, especially when left alone when he feels like he always needs to be doing something. He's usually careful and thoughtful when he's exploring, knowing when a situation could be dangerous at the very least. This part about him may be due to his young age and he may eventually grow out of it.
Introduction/Story:
Zala paced back and forth among the tree rows, bored and lonely. He didn't like the enclosure he was in much, but it was decidedly better than the place he'd been locked up in before. At least here he could hide, even though the trees had clearly been grown specially by humans. There were other enclosures around him, there were a couple that at least contained another Zver, but they didn't seem overly friendly.

From what he could tell, they were underground. Some sort of special human place that had been built. The roof above was rather high up, and at the moment the lights were set to look like it was night. It wasn't pitch black, but it wasn't very light either. Probably as close to a quarter moon as the humans could get it to seem.

Zala had decided immediately that humans were odd creatures, especially the scientists who he really hadn't liked. These humans that had broken him out and broght him here also seemed odd. He truly could not understand the humans reasoning behind holding Zvers captive. At times it angered him to be in an enclosure with nothing to do. He'd already explored every corner of this place.

After a while, Zala found himself pacing along one of the fences. His gaze drifted to the area beyond the fence that closed him in. There was a path that ran down the entire length of the enclosure. Across the path was another fence with a treed enclosure. In it had been a red and white mae Zver, except he rarely saw him and lately it seemed as though he wasn't even there anymore. Perhaps he actually wasn't.

Zala looked up, at the top of the fence, considering his options. It was far up to the top, but there was no fence above him and he could tell there was a gap between the ceiling and the fence. Zala hadn't been here for very many days, but he'd already developed the feeling of being trapped. There was no way he could stay within the fence any longer.

    So he began to climb.

    XxXxX

Sven had finished cutting the connections to the networks in Sweden and China, leaving no trace that he'd ever controlled the connected computers. He'd powered down the main computers around him, leaving a few on that controlled different portions of the headquarters. Besides that, he was alone in the tech room with his laptop. He'd spent the last three minutes trying to access an e-mail sent by his co-worker who had left an hour ago with Alessa. When he finally got into the e-mail message she'd sent him, there were even more codes. He had to admit, she was smart.

He heard movement in the room somewhere behind him, a door being opened and someone moving around. There were at least four other people still working in the rooms around him. Where they were he didn't know or really care as long as they didn't try to scare him like they had so many times before. He was jumpy, not really his fault.

Just in case anyone was planning something, Sven turned his attention briefly to one of the nearby monitors. It showed four screens, all shots from security cameras he'd had placed around the building. The Director was still in his office, unsurprisingly. Declan and Natalia were working in the lounge finishing some paperwork up. Tiergan wasn't with them, which always made Sven nervous. The Zver seemed unpredictable and he wasn't afraid to admit that it scared him. A moment later he found it in one of the spare rooms, curled up asleep on a bed that was only used when someone had to stay overnight at headquarters. On a different screen he watched Devlin head down a hallway to the stairs, he'd be on his way to check the underground enclosures.

Nothing was out of the ordinary it seemed so he returned his attention to the e-mail and focussed once more on decoding it and then moved on to creating an equally difficult e-mail and sent it back to her. He was just hitting send when one of the radios crackled to life.

"Seven, check security for Block E, I can't seem to see Z6 anywhere inside," Devlin was saying.

Sven turned immediately to the monitors that showed the different enclosure blocks. He switched to Block E and started scanning each of the six images for any sign of the Zver in question. There was no sign of it anywhere in the enclosure.

"I can't seem to find it anywhere on the cameras, get hold of the others and start a search. I'll start re-winding security footage to see where it went," Sven replied, all ready beginning to look backwards through the footage.

He went back several hours and started the footage, finding the young Zver easily. It was moving around inside the enclosure shortly after the last feeding of the night. He set the speed forward, watching it as it moved from camera to camera before finally launching itself partway up the fence and disappearing from the camera's view.

Sven turned to the radio to conference, allowing him to contact everyone in the building. "Z6 climbed the fence and didn't reappear in view of cameras around 9 o'clock. He's not in Block E anymore and I can't find him in the area of the enclosures."

"Thanks, Seven, we'll find him as soon as we can," Natalia replied from the weapons room where she was gathering tranqs.

"See if you can track his movements and let us know where he was headed, Sven," the director instructed.

"All right, on it," Sven replied, turning quickly back to the monitors.

He moved all cameras around the enclosures back to the time of escape and watched them play through, following Z6's movements through the building. When Z6 moved into the stairwell, he lost track of where the Zver was. He needed to get cameras installed in the stairwell apparently. He quickly informed the search group where he'd last seen the Zver, hoping they'd find it before it found its way to his floor. The Zvers he'd been around scared him, and he really didn't want to end up dealing with a Zver in his space. His computer systems were fragile. He was fragile.

Sven turned around in his chair and got up, about to go lock all the doors into the room. At the same time, the Zver that had been sleeping partway under a nearby desk raised its head and looked at him questioningly. Sven froze automatically, staring at the Zver with his panic level rising. The Zver stretched itself out on the ground and rested its head on its paws, still watching Sven curiously. In that moment, it reminded Sven of a dog.

When it made no move to get up - or attack him - Sven turned to the radio and asked Natalia to hurry up to the tech room. He sat back down in his chair to wait, keeping his gaze on the Zver. When the Zver got up, Sven flinched slightly, watching it approach slowly. It sat down in front of him and cocked its head to the side slightly before leaning forward and sniffing his leg and hand.

"I have a bad feeling about this," he muttered, mostly to himself, "But I think I'll call you Zala."

Natalia hurried in a moment later, flanked by Tiergan and Declan. They looked from Zala to Sven and back. Then Natalia burst out laughing and walked away. Tiergan looked as grumpy as ever, but he left too, tail flicking slightly.

"You of all people, Seven," Declan said, not bothering to hide that he was also amused. "Enjoy," he added over his shoulder as he walked out.

I need to post this now, before I lose what I've got again :\ Evil computer lost everything I had.
This isn't my best form ever, but considering I normally create a character in my mind over a course of several days I think it's turned out pretty good.
I didn't realize until after I chose Devlin's name when I was working on my form for Cam how similar it was to Declan XD
And gah, I called Zala by his name during the first part :\ I'm too tired to fix it all right now...
