I don't like the way I write, but I've had good luck with forms so far, so I'm really putting a lot of effort into this one so that I can be happy with my story even if I don't win

Spotty, will you be making anymore defected smilis? Or will you keep them even more special by just keeping these?

Spotty wrote:Most often a smili will grow up in a colour similar to it's enviroment. A light smili will probably live in the mountains or the grasslands/savanna, a white or bluish one in snow, a dark one in dense forest. The regular brown ones are taiga forest type. Mostly. There are always exceptions of course.
It obviously doesn't apply to the albino smili though, it lacks colouration completly and would grow up the same anywhere.

Um, take all further smili questions to the smili thread and I'll be happy to answer. I just don't want to spam TaN more than necessary.

Took this over to the Smili thread xD
And crappers, because I put the tribal in a rainforest. o.o;; Though I could put something like he lived in the grasslands until the whole plot with his mother, then his father brought him to his Grandfather's tribe or something... it all depends on when they were cubs right?

I think it's just the first few weeks that matter - after all, the cubs Spotty's made so far have their markings and colours, and they look pretty young still. :3

I'll try to keep the number of defect smili down, I know they are all exiting, but they are meant to be a pretty healthy species^^.

The colouration depends on lots of things. Since the "mechanism isn't understood" I leave that kind of open for each adopter to deside for themselves. I'm sure everyone can come up with a perfect explination to why their smili is a certain colour, without breaking the general colouration rules.

They will get their final colouration about the time when their eyes and ears fully open and they'll learn to walk, so the frst weeks are the most important. They'll then still have time to change a little during their entire first half a year.
I'm also thinking it might depend on what the burrow they are born in ar dug into, because the light that comes down to the cubs will be reflected in the wall material and coloured by that.

Well, I know so much about it because I just make it up along the way. Heh. If there's something I don't know about smili, it's because I've never thought about it, so I just make it up when someone asks.
