Brilliant darling Badger Deer!

Badger Deer #:63. This litter is amazing, Wind Song, and I love it, but 63 was the one that I had to go for <3
Name:Aiyana (eye-ah-nah)
Meaning:Aiyana is a Native American name which means 'eternal blossom' or 'forever flowering'. I named this girl Aiyana because she's based on Autumn, and the leaves that appear in autumn are very bright colors. I take those as the flowers. Also, they are there for a month o two, and so remind me that they are not eternally blossoming, but almost so. Also, I thought it was a pretty name.
Gender:Female. I have two lovely boys at home, and I decided that I needed a female now, to balance things out a bit.
Poem/short story: (Okay, this is longer than 400 words. I hope that's all right; I got into the story and didn't want to stop writing!)
It was always nice to get outside, I thought to myself, running through the woods near my house. I mean, I have nothing againt being inside on a computer, but even with the mosquitoes, the warm air smelled amazing. Just like the outdoors!
As I ran, I felt as though something was watching me. It's a hard feeling to explain, but just that feeling when the hair on the back of your neck rises, and you feel cold all of a sudden. I slowed down and turned around. There wasn't anything that I could see, but still. There was a rustling in the branches behind me and I spun around again. I tensed up.
And then, I saw a large almost square shaped nose poke out of the bushes, and I relaxed. It was only a Badger Deer! They were one of my favorite animals, and I was lucky enough to live close to their island so that they could easily swim across, being the resilient, hardy creatures that they were. They were really quite friendly, and I had come across two before that had come home with me. Wesley, and Nuage.
This creature was so much different than them, though, that I was astonished. As it poked its way through the bushes, the first thing I noticed was it's bright green eyes, looking at me with curiosity. It had fiery colors, reminding me of the leaves that were now falling form the trees.
I smiled, and slowly stepped towards it. "Hello," I started, softly, "What's your name?" I knew she couldn't answer me, but it was just talk. The badger deer looked warily at me, not meeting my eyes. "It's al right- I'm Thysta." Normally, at this point, the Badger Deer would run away- at least that's what usually happened whenever I saw one. Except for Wesley and Nuage, I got Wesley when he was still a baby and Nuage... well, he's Nuage.
Even though this girl continued to look at me with hesitation, she took a few more steps out into the open. My smile became bigger. I came closer and closer, and she didn't move.
And then I touched her. It was gentle, between her ears. She flinched, huffing out a breath. I watched its mist slowly fade away. I half expected her to turn tails and run, but she didn't. I opened my mouth, beginning to speak, but her ears pricked up, and with a kick, she bounded away, back into the bushes.
There was nothing I could do but continue on my way, and this I did, but I felt regretful and sad. As I started back home, I felt eyes on me again. The same eyes..?
And sure enough, when I stopped, the same Badger Deer poked her head out of the bushes. This time, she was carrying a bright red flower that I recognized as a poppy in her mouth. She walked over to me. She looked less wary.
"Hi, again!" I call out. To my astonishment, she breaks out into a trot and comes over to me quickly. Then, turning
her head to the side, she shoves it against me. She's surprisingly strong, but I know exactly what she wants and I laugh, scratching her on the top of her head where I touched her before. This is a trick that my other Badger Deer play on me.
When I stop, and it's obvious I won't be petting her any more, she turns to face me, and to my absolute astonishment, bends down her front legs until it's almost like a representation of a bow. She looks up at me and florishes the red flower in my direction.
I laugh once, quick and huffy, under my breath, and accept the blossom. The badger deer struggles upright from her position, using momentum to help herself up. I smile and for a second, it seems like she smiles with me, the corners of her mouth pointed up and her eyes crinkled at the edges like people's who smile often are.
I start waking back slowly because I know that sometimes if something good happened it's just best to end like that, with a good thing, but the badger deer follows me. I go faster, and she speeds up her pace. "You want to follow me, don't you?" I muse, more to myself then her. But to my surprise, she nods her head vigorously. "Can you understand what I'm saying?" Another nod.
I was amazed. I never knew wild badger deer could speak our language! Or understand it, at least. "What's you're name?" I ask. The badger deer looks at me strangely and then uses her claws to write in the dust a pretty name that sounds native american in origin. "Aiyana..." I say quietly.
"Would you like to come home with me?"
