Dapple is of a smaller height, but still fits into the heights of others. Her main fur color is a light gray, hinted with silver strands, which seem to glow as the sunlight touches her. Ivory and silver spots are dappled along her fur, hence the name she was given, Dapple. Her horns are a sharp and stunning silver, and her front legs are smaller, with small and dainty paws on the ends. Her back feet are also quite small and skinny, but with silver hooves on the ends. Even though she has small legs, they are strong and powerful, allowing her to run fast and jump high. Dapple's mane is a dark ash color, and so is her short fluffy tail. She has a small silver button nose, and a ivory colored strip on her face. Dapple has two main features, her eyes, and her markings. Dapple's eyes are a bright and vivid green, that always seem to twinkle when she is happy. On this female Goennec's side, she has many ivory colored markings. I remember my history quite well. It seems as if, as if I was born yesterday. I was quite odd as a child, yet, I still am now. I never was the sharpest tool in the shed, but I wasn't the dullest one, either. I just always had my head in the clouds, and had trouble keeping my thoughts inside my head...I'm good at remembering things though, for I can remember every little detail in my past. It haunts me like a ghost, though, that's a bit impossible. Right? Well, you'll soon find out...
My first steps out of the den, weren't really steps at all. I was excited to leave the den, I was an only child, and it was super boring for me to sit in a den all day. Once my mother told me I could go out and finally explore, I bounded out of the den as fast as I could and jumped into the air, looking at the clouds. I guess I expected I was going to grow wings and fly, but instead, gravity took a hold of me and landed with a "plop!" onto the ground. That didn't seem to bother me though, I was much to excited to care. I simply stood back up and shook the dirt off my fur, looking around.
Catching a flutter of movement in the corner of my eye, I turned and walked towards a bright, pink flower. I sniffed at it, and jumped back swiftly, for I had taken a big whiff and the smell was strong. Shaking my head to get the smell out, I spotted a little red bug with blacks spots crawling on a blade of grass. Putting my nose close to it, I breathed in air and then breathed it out, which blowed the creature off the blade of grass and onto the ground.
Bored with the bug, I kept walking through the grass and looking around, trying to find something to do. I jumped, startled, when I heard a loud noise and a creature came out of a tree and flew off into the sky. The way it's wings fluttered silently, how graceful.
At that moment, a crazy idea struck my head.
I wanted to learn to fly. And I was going to find a way to do it.
Soon I saw the creature getting smaller and smaller as it flew off, I let out a sigh as I watched the creature vanish like a ghost. Half of me wanted to chase after the creature, and the other half told me to stay with the herd. After a few moments, one of the halves won. "Hey! Come back!" I yelled at the creature, not knowing it didn't understand. Once I saw that the creature didn't want to come back, I decided to come to it. Standing up, I bounded after the creature, swiftly dodging the logs and trees. "Come back!" I yelled at it again, but soon it was out of sight.
Slowing to a stop, I realized that the creature was to far away, I should just pray that another one flies by soon. Turning around, I walked back to the herd and layed down in the grass, watching as my mother layed down by my side. "Looks like you've been out exploring." She said, looking at me. "Yeah! I sniffed a flower, and I was looking at a bug. And I saw a feathered creature that could fly! Can you belive that? It was flying!" I exclaimed happily and my mother laughed softly. "Yes, I belive it. Those are birds, there are lots of them." She said. "Birds? Well, I like birds." I said and drifted off into a deep sleep.
Once I relized I was awake, I stood up so quickly my mother followed my movements and looked around, as if something was going to eat me. At that moment, the whole herd was up on the their feet. "My dear, what made you stand up so quickly? Where is the danger?" My mother asked me softly, hint of fear in her voice.
Fear might of been in her voice. Embaressment was in mine.
"I-..There is no danger mum...I just was excited to see if any birds where around.." At my words, the adults snorted angerily, mad they woke for nothing. And the other kids, older then me of course, laughed. I didn't seem bothered by them, I was just embaressed. My mother sighed at sat down. "Please don't ever do that again, I'm afraid the other members don't like to be awaken early." She said and layed back down again.
I simply nodded before turning away and walking through the grass, looking at the sky and the trees closely. I crouched down silently, waiting, waiting , waiting. Soon I saw a flicker of movement and saw a feathered creature, a bird! I walked towards it slowly, making sure it didn't see me. I must learn the ways of a bird, that way I'll be able to fly... I thought in my head.
Taking another step forward, I was unaware that my paw has steped on a twig, snapping it in half. At the sound, the bird opened it's wings and soared into the air. Turning my head I saw a bunch of other birds, that where hidden in the trees, take off after the other bird. Sighing, I cocked my head and looked at the tree. Hrmm... Walking towards the tree, I saw a low branch and lept onto it, which was very, very hard. Making sure I had my balance, I lept onto another branch, then another, then another, until I was on the highest one.
The younger Goennecs circled around the tree, looking up at me, and the olders ones where rushing to get, not my mother, but my father. Once his eyes met mine, he rushed towards me, his deep voice booming loudly. "Dapple! Get down there right now!" I heard the laughing of the younger Goennecs below me. "She actully thinks she can fly, like a bird. Pathetic!" Their words angered me, I would show them, I would fly. I jumped off the branch and looked up at the clouds, but instead of flying up, I fell down, again, onto the ground.
My dad nudged me up and looked at me sternly, the younger Goennecs bursting with laughter from behind. "No daughter of mine will belive she can fly. Don't you have any sense!?" He snorted a walked away, the herd following him.
♦
That night I sat on a cliff, watching as the moon rose high into the air, and as the sun sank under the mountains. I let out a depressed sigh, wondering why I even had the stupid idea to fly in the first place. I pricked my ears once I heard the rustle of leaves and peered over my shoulder, seeing a male Goennec. I'd seen him before, he was in our heard before, and believed he was a friend of Mom. "You don't seem to happy." He said softly and sat behind me, his vivid green eyes sparkling.
"Well, if you weren't able to see, or hear it from everyone in the herd, I fell from a tree."
"I don't think ''fell'' is what your were planning." The male said and chuckled softly, an amused tone in his voice as he looked at me.
I snorted and stood up, looking at him, my expression showing I wasn't amused. He seemed to catch it, and his chuckle died down. "No need to get fussy. I did the same thing when I was younger." He said, looking out into the distance. His words seemed to catch my attention quickly, and I cocked my head at him. "Really? You tried to jump out of a tree too?" He laughed at that, and looked back at me. "Well, not quite. I did try to fly, I tried alot of things. Your father never approved though, he always was to serious. ''Don't you go walking around like you have no brains!" he would say." That made me giggle, and I smiled up at the male. "Yup! You got it right, that's him. I wish he wasn't like that though, I wish he understood. There are so many questions to be asked, and to be answered. But he doesn't understand."
"Dapple!" The deep voice of my father made me jumped, and I stood up and turned to look at him. "It's time to go to bed, come o-" His words stopped has his eyes met the Goennec sitting beside me. "Ah, hello there Firenze. Trying to put more impossible ideas into my daughters head?" He said sternly, frowning. Firenze took a deep breath, and looked at my father calmly. "I'm not putting impossible ideas into her head, I'm simply supporting her, unlike some people I know." He said, stood up, and walked off to the herd. I watched him go with a small smile on my face, but then saw my dads look and hid the smile, following him back to the den.
♦
Once I woke up in the morning, I walked out of the den, played and ate some bugs, and drank from the stream. Then I started to head towards the cliff I was at yesterday and saw the shape on Firenze sitting down. Smiling happily, I bounded towards him and sat down beside him. "Ah, I expected I'd meet you here today. Sleep good?" He said calmly, looking at me. I nodded, and watched as birds flew through the cloud. "You and dad don't look like you're close friends anymore." I said and looked at him. "No, after a while my idea's and his differed. And I guess it's meant to be that way." He said. "Are you really supporting me?" I asked him, cocking my head like I always do.
"Of course, why would I not? I have learned, that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours." He said softly, in a sing-song voice.
"That was beautiful." I said looking at him, letting his words flow through my ears. "Yes, my mother was a supporter of my thoughts. She told me alot of odd quotes, yet they all helped me get through my life. Seeing as you don't have anyone to support you, I'll take over that job." He said and layed down on the soft grass.
"You mean it? You're going to support me? Promise?"
"Promise."
"Cross your heart?"
Firenze chuckled at my words, and looked at me amused. "Cross my heart."
I smiled and layed down beside him, looking out into the distance. "Does that mean, that I can ask you my questions, and that you'll answer them?" I asked, looking at him curiously. "That depends on the question." He said looking at me.
"Ok then, well, how does the sky get it's colors?" I asked.
"Magical fairies come everyday and everynight, painting the sky."
"How was the sun made?"
"A giant dragon made a fire ball and pushed it towards the earth. It heads towards us everyday, but it's very far away, so it will take a long time before it comes here." He answered.
"Ok, I have one more question."
"Yes?"
"How come you're so werid?"
Firenze laughed and rolled onto his back, looking up at the clouds smiling. "Because if everyone in this world was normal, life would be boring. And I'm not werid, I simply just stretch my feelings." He said calming, turning his head to look at me. "Am I normal?" I asked him curiously. "Of course not. No one is normal, no one is alike. You must live life to it's fullest, being who you really are." He said.
"But if you must live life to it's fullest, then why are you still here?" I asked him. "The answer has not yet come to me, but I know it will soon." He replied calmly. "Well, I want to live my life to it's fullest. And I know that won't happen if I stay in the herd." I said sitting up, Firenze following my movements. "You know, you are very odd for your age. Much like me when I was a child. Though, like I said before, my mother supported my ideas. So when I was younger, I left the herd, and she didn't mind."
"Where did you go?" I asked him.
"Oh I went to many, many places. And everywhere I went, I tested my thoughts, and my dreams. Trying to find my purpose here, and purpose for life. I haven't found it yet, but in the mean time, I taught others, like you. Helping them make their dreams come true, helping them achive their purpose. Soon I returned back to the herd though, so I can work more with the people I know."
"Which you will not do as long as I'm here!" My father's deep voice echoed, and again, I jumped. "My daughter is already filled with crazy ideas, I don't need you to fill her with more!" Firenze stood up and faced my fater, sighing softly. "You cannot lock up her dreams."
"I can do whatever I like! I'm the leader of this herd and my word is law!"
"You cannot fill up her brain with lies! She diserves to know the truth!"
"Stop it!"
The yell of my mother seemed to not just make me jump, but the whole herd. For my mother was usally gentle, and it was rare to hear her yell. She walked over to be and stood beside me, staring at my father sternly. "We do not need to fight. Tyson, you must understand-"
"I understand enough! I'm the leader here! And you sha'll listen to me!"
"And I'm your mate! My word counts just as much as yours does! Stop! For the sake of our daughter, please stop." She begged my father, but he didn't listen. He has gotten to angry, to angry to control himself. He ran at my mother, and she didn't have enough time to run away...
♦
Crystal clear tears streamed down my face and I shrieked as I saw my mother's body being thrown over the cliff. Gasps from the herd echoed through the forest, and Firenze stood close to my side. "That went to far, Tyson. This is no longer a safe area. You're to power hungry." He said and took another step closer to me.
My father soon got the idea Firenze was planning and stomped on the ground hard with his hooves. "Fine! Take her away and fill her mind with silly thoughts! She is too weak, no daughter of mine." He said and walked off, the herd to afraid they would meet the same fate as my mother, followed him.
♦
That night Firneze had taken me deep into the forest, away from my father. I stayed close by his side, my head low and sad. We soon found a stump with a hole in it, it was a big stump, so it was a good place to sleep with lots of room. I layed against Fireneze that night, tired from crying. I had many questions to ask, but I decided it would be better to hold them off for tomarrow. Closing my eyes, I drifted off into a dark slumber.
♦
Waking up, I saw a couple of apples by my side. Eating them swiftly, I stretched and walked out of the den, sitting down by Firenze. "I'm sorry, for what you had to see last night." He said softly, looking down at me. "Don't worry, I guess everything happens for a reason. But I still don't get one thing."
"And that is?"
"Last night you told me dad to tell me the truth. Well, what's the truth?"
Firenze sighed, and I could tell he didn't want to tell me the truth. He looked over at me calmy and spoke softly. "You're a Seeker." He said.
"A what?"
"A Seeker. Like me, I was born one, and so was my mother. That's why she supported me so much. But my father didn't support it, so he banashed me from the grounds, saying I was a freak. My job is to travel, and mentor other Seekers, like you."
"But what does a Seeker do?" I was confused, and impatient at the moment.
"A Seeker is a Goennec, that is born with the ability to do many things. They're born with a much bigger mind, and that's why we're so odd to others. Like how you want to learn to fly, no Goennec in their right mind would try to fly, but a Seeker would. Each Seeker is born with a special ability, able to do something, another Seeker can't. They also are born with a Seer."
I was still completly confused, how could I be something so odd? I know this Goennec wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but I didn't know he was that dull. "Ok, so what's a Seer?"
"A Seer, is a different animal, that shares your soul. They can be any animal, but a Goennec. They have the power to talk to you, but only you. That is, unless they form bonds with others. But that's rare. They share your dreams, and have the same abilities you have. It's hard to find your Seer, but you'll know when you find it because, you'll be able to speak to it, and it will have your personailty. You can summon your Seer, too. Only you can, though."
"Ok, now what is a Seeker's purpose? What are we suposed to do? Make a fool of ourselves and be hated?"
"No, long ago a seeker was born, using his power in a bad way. Seekers are suposed to be nice Goennecs, born to help others. But this Seeker took advantage of his power, trying to rule the world. Our misson is to make an army of good Seeker's, and destroy him."
"But he's just one Goennec, wouldn't we be able to stop him?"
"Nope, his ability is to control other's minds. He took over others, not just Goennecs, but all kinds of creatures. They are his army, all powerful and ready to kill. Tyson, your father, is one of the Goennecs that had his mind taken over. He is being controlled right now. If it weren't for me, your bro, you'd be dead."
Ok, I think I lost it at this point. "Wait, let me get this straight. My mother has this power, and she gave birth to you, and you had it. She was supportive of you, but Tyson wasn't, because he was planning to use his power for evil. But pretends like he doesn't have this power. And then I'm born, with the same issue, and you meet me, and wow. So does that mean-"
Firenze nodded, knowing what I was going to ask. "That the herd, is under your control. Your mother's ability, though, is a very unique one. She has the power to block your father's ability, though he doesn't know. And for the sake of you, me, and the herd, she stayed with him."
"Ok, so what's your ability? And who's your Seer?"
"I have the ability to read minds. For example, you're a bit confused about this. Arn't you?"
"That's not reading minds, it's obvious that I'm confused."
"Ok, I admit, that was to easy. But now your embaressed, beause you thought I was handsome when you first saw me, and now you relize I'm your brother." He said grinning, as I was blushing, my face as red as a cherry.
"So your ability is to read minds, who's your Seer? Can't you summon it like you said before?"
Firenze nodded, and closed his eyes, concentraiting hard. Soon, a black mist started to appear at Firenze's side, and once it blew away, a cat, the same colors as my brother, appeared. The male cat started meowing, looking at Firenze.
I was confused, how could a cat, a cat be powerful?
"He said that you doubt his abilities.." Firneze repeated what the cat had said about me, and I blushed, The cat's powerful green eyes stared at me intently.
"He can read minds to?" I questioned shocked and looked at Firenze. "You didn't tell me this."
"Well I told you a Seer shares part of your soul. So you figured you would already know."
"Right, like how I figured I'd be some werid creature that has to save the world. Now, can't I just summon my Seer? Even if I've never met it?"
"No, you must meet a Seer before you can summon it. I needed to met Scratch before I could summon him."
"Scratch, yeah, ok. So are we just going to travel around, trying to find out who my Seer is, and what my ability is?" I asked Firenze, still a bit confused about this whole conversation.
"Yup, so I suggest we get a move on. It's getting dark, and I don't want to stay here, the stump is uncomfortable." Firenze said, Scratch jumping on his back. Firenze then started walking through the forest, me trailing from behind, thoughts whirling around in my mind.
Soon we came to a huge dark cave, it was warm and dry inside, a perfect place to spend the night. Firenze layed down, Scratch laying on one side of him, me on the other. "Where do suppose we'll find my Seer?" I asked, knowing the world is huge. "You'll just know where." Firenze said, closing his eyes to sleep, and I did the same thing.
♦
Warmth, the feeling of my mother against my side, keeping me cozy as the sunlight slowly dried the clear dew from my silver fur. Her shallow and slow breathing beside me, comforting, it was. In the distance I could hear the loud sounds of a waterfall, the sound pulling me closer and closer. Other then that sound, the scent of wildflowers passed under my nose, calming me further...
"Meow?"
My vivid, green eyes fluttered open to greet my mother, but instead they landed on something not so calming. Scratch the cat.. Standing up suddenly, I shook my fur with a noticable frown. Scratch could see I wasn't pleased, but his face held an amused look. He must find me very funny.
"Stop, that wasn't funny. You could have told me that I had layed beside you. Now I'm going to have fleas.."
Walking out of the cave, I saw Firenze sitting down, smiling cheerfully. He must have heard what had happened from inside the cave. Or perhaps he read my mind, or Scratch's mind.
"Quite startled, you seem to be. But that's ok, I understand where you are comming from. Scratch isn't the best person to cuddle with." He said with a chuckle, stretching. Then he bent down and started to eat a few strands of mint colored grass. I followed his movements, remembering how hungry I was.
With a full belly, I decided to tell Firenze about the peaceful deram I had.
"Firenze, I had a dream. And I think it has something to do with my findind my 'Seer'. I couldn't see anything, it was all black. But I was able to hear things, and smell things. Is there any place nearby with a large waterfall, and wildflowers? I could hear a waterfall in my dream, and there was a strong scent of wildflowers surronding me." I said softly, cocking my head.
"Hmmm.." Firenze seemed to be deep in thought, lost in his own ideas for a few moments. I could see it in his eyes for a few moments, flicking like a flame ever so softly. Though soon that look vanished, and the male Goennec turned to me. A small smile was on his face, and my heart lifted for the first time in a while.
"There is a place like that, Dapple. I am glad it came to you so quickly. That place is known as the Valley of Hope, a very beautiful place if I do say so myself. I've been there before, so I know where the place is. But it will take a while to get there. A 3 day's journey at the least. First we must cross this forest, then over the mountains."
Now it was time for me to get lost of thoughts. My green eyes stared at the clouds, ideas and dreams dancing around me in a tightly formed circle. It was like my thoughts wanted to choke me, causing me to spit out my final answer to Firenze. Finally, my thoughts one and I looked at him.
"Well then, we better get going. I have recovered from the loss of my mother, because I know she'd want me to stand strong and fight back." I said calmly, raising my head high as Scratch padded out of the den.
♦
I didn't expect anything less then a hard trip, so I wasn't surprised when my paws started to hurt, or when my tounge was dry. I tried to not stop for anything unless it was truely needed. Firenze was fine with that, but sometimes he forced me to drink from a puddle, or much on some leaves.
Sometimes I was frustraited when he made me do that, because I wanted to get on with this journey. It was day one, and we hadn't gotten out of the forest yet. But other times I was grateful for when he made me eat, cause I was starving at points. The thing was, I always knew when he would make me eat, because he could read minds. So he could know when I was really hungry or thirsty. It didn't seen like fair play, in my case.
"So, Firenze. How much farther until we reach the end of the forest?" I questioned, looking over to him. My bright green eyes twinkled as I waited for a good answer. Firenze chuckled, most likely believing that I was very impatient. Normally I could wait a week for things. But after all that I had recently learned, I just wanted to get it all done.
"At this quick pace, we will arrive just has the sun sets. Then we can eat, drink, sleep, and wake up tomarrow for some more traveling. Though I warn you, Dapple. The Mountains are dangerous, unlike the forest. It's cold and hard to climb. Not to mention all the rocks that fall. So we must go slowly when we travel up them." He told me, and I nodded. That I understood.
♦
It was the afternoon, and I noticed that the population of trees had died down, meaning we were getting close. I had been silent for a long time, and decided it would be smart to spark up some type of conversation. "So, how did you meet Scratch?" I questioned, noticing I had been asking a bunch of questions lately.
"Mmm..One of your better questions, though you usually have good ones. Yet, I had a feeling you'd ask this. I happened to find out my power before I met Scratch. I, as you know, have the power to read minds. That wasn't hard to discover. All I had to do was wonder about someone, and I could know what they were thinking. I stretched farther and farther with my thoughts, until one day they reached Scratch." He said.
♦
As the sun started to set, there was barely any trees left. And snow started to lightly form on the floor, covering the grass on some parts. It was a truely beautiful sight. But as even though I wanted to stay and rest for a bit, I kept on traveling. The sun was almost about to set, and I wanted to reach a starting point of the mountain.
"We are close now. There is a den up ahead that we can rest in." Firenze said calmly, speeding up a bit so he could take the leading place. I followed close behind, excited to have filled up day one in the forest. Tomarrow would be slower, and colder, but it would allow me to get closer to the valley.
"Here we are!"
The den wasn't very big, and it was hard to see at first. It actully looked more like a burrow on the outside, but who was I to know?
Slowly, I entered the den, ducking down so I wouldn't hit my head on the roof. The burrow seemed to press against me, but Firenze promised that it would get bigger. I sure hoped that was true.
Turns out, the den did get bigger, and looked more like a den. It was huge. The roof was big enough for me to stand, and it had the perfect width for me, Firenze, Scratch, and perhaps another Goennec. I smiled cheerfully, sitting down. I wanted to stay here forever, with Firenze and Scratch. But something told me I had to keep going.
"This is perfect, Firenze. I love it. I would love to stay up and ask more questions, but I'm deadly tired."
Laying down on the soft ground, I rested my head on my paws, green eyes watching Firenze and Scratch. We were all an interesting bunch, or herd, whatever you'd call us right now. I hoped that we would soon be known as a herd, because I didn't want to live as a longer, or go back to my old herd. With them, there was nothing to go back too.
Closing my eyes, I drifted off to a deep slumber.
♦
This time I didn't wake up to the warmth of the sun, but the heat of being inside of a hole. The tunnel to get into the resting area was so long that air wasn't able to travel through it, and reach us. Standing up slowly, I noticed the Firenze and Scratch were both gone and out of the den. After stretching, I swore that one day I'd wake up before them, and then headed out.
A freash and cool breeze washed around me as I stepped out of the den, making my silver fur drift and sway. I smiled, green eyes brightning up a bit as the air hit me. What a refreashment! But as I looked around, I couldn't find Firenze or Scratch, which I thought was awkward.
My thoughts were broken away as my stomach grumbled, and I bent down to chew at the patches of grass, which happened to still be visable under the sparkling snow. My stomach seemed to fill bite by bite, which was very good. But then I longed for a drink.
Taking the dare I have recived from my mind, I headed off away from the den in search of water. Yet as I walked, I stared at my paws, watching them walk. After a while, it felt like I wasn't controlling my legs, and that they were controlling me. For a few moments, I thought I heard water, and I invisioned a river in my mind. Then I blinked, and when I opened my eyes, I stopped.
At my feet was a river, the one I had visioned. I found that strange, since I dont remember hearing the river get louder as I came closer to it. Shrugging, I slowly bent down and lapped at the bright pool of liquid, smiling as I drank some. My ears pricked, and flickered as I heard the crunching of leaves. Raising my head, I turned around just in time to see something run at me, and shove me into the river.
Cold shoots of pain when up me at first, strangling my throat. But as soon as they died down, I heard laughter, and then another splash as the form also jumped into the river. How could he think this was funny?
"Firenze! No fair!"
I splashed him with water, and he splashed me back, a laugh rolling off his tounge. Eyes glittering, he helped me get out of the river and onto the land, where I shook all the water off myself, and onto him. "Firenze, we can't be playing jokes. We have to keep moving on, so we can get to the Valley of Hope. Plus, that water is freezing!" I told him, paws kneeding the soft ground.
"Sorry Dapple, I just thought you could use some fun, ya' know? But yes, your right. We have to keep moving before it gets dark. Have you already eaten? It'll be hard to find food up in the mountains." He said, and I nodded.
♦
Firenze was right when he said to be carefull, because I have slipped twice on the rocks. At certain points all you could do was cautiously walk, avoiding parts that looked slippery. And then when it was really rocky, we had to jump. That was hard. Sure, I was a good jumper, but you never knew where to jump. If you lost your footing, or jumped on a loose rock, that was it.
Scratch seemed to be having a hard time too, so I looked back at him with a concerned expression. "Are you doing okay, Scratch? Maybe you should ride on my back.." I said softly, and the cat nodded, heading towards me. Firenze then stopped and came back to join us from his leading position. "Huh? Having trouble, Scratch? Hmm..You can ride on my back, no worries." He said, and the cat slowly then changed direction and jumped onto Firenze.
♦
Night-time had approched, and the stars twinkled and glowed from the sky. Firenze lead me to a small cave that was formed into the side of the mountain, it looked a bit smaller then what I had slept in the nights before, but it would do. My paws hurt, and my hooves did too. So as long as I was able to layed down, it didn't matter.
"This is good, Firenze. Thank you." I said softly, going into the den and laying down. I tucked my paws under my chest, and layed my head on the floor. Scratch jumped from Firenze's back, and both layed down beside eachother. "Firenze, how much time do we have until it's too late? Ya' know, until this evil Goennec tried to full take over?" I questioned.
"That's a good question, yet, I dont know. I can read minds, but I can't stretch far enough to reach his mind." Firenze said with a shrug, then laying his head on the ground, before falling asleep.
I chuckled as I heard him start to snore, knowing he was dreaming already. Closing my eyes, I thought about everything I had learned in the past days. It made me feel special, to know I was like this. Smiling at the thought, I drifted off to bed.
♦
I woke up in the morning from a gust of air that blew my fur, and boy, was that air cold. I stood up, and the flinched. For a shiver had slithered up my spine like a cold and twisted snake. My bright green eyes scanned the snowy land, and I realized I had woke up before Firenze and Scratch, who were still asleep.
Stepping outside of the den, I looked around, pawing at the snow. Underneath showed some small patches of dried grass, which I ate up swiftly. Then I digged at more spots of snow, where more spots of grass showed out. "Firenze! Come out now!" I called, ears pricking as I heard his muffled yawn.
"Alright, I'm up. I'm gonna eat. Go get Scratch." He said, bending down to eat at the grass. I nodded and went into the small den, nosing Scratch. "Wake up, Scratch. It's day three!...I think.. Yeah, day three. So come on." I said softly, and he nodded. "Yeah yeah, I'm up. Lets get going."
Suddenly, I stopped. "Wait, did you just talk?" I questioned, and suddenly Firenze raised his head. "My, look at that. As I said when we met before, a Seer can only talk to the one it's connected too, unless it forms good enough bonds with others. Scratch seems to like you enough to talk too you." He said, and I cheerfully smiled. "Oh, well that's cool. But we still have to keep going."
♦
Surprisingly, as we made our way up the mountain, it became easier and easier to climb. I thought it would be harder, but Firenze explained that these mountains were werid and mysterious, not like other mountains. So I decided to go along with that statement. Besides, who cared if the mountain was mysterious? It was easier to climb, and that ment I'd find my Seer faster.
"Uh, Firenze? The clouds over head, they are getting darker. You dont suppose that a blizzard will hit us, right?" I questioned, looking up at the sky. It was a dumb questioned, because I knew the answer. No doubt that a storm would be hitting. It was dark with the clouds covering the sun, and it would only get darker.
"Yes, actully. A blizzard will hit us soon, so I suggest we take cover. This will be a bad blizzard, and it will delay our trip." He said calmly, looking at the sky. I sighed, but nodded. "You know what's right. So, where do we go to find some place to take shelter?" I questioned as we walked on.
"Up ahead there is another small cave, much like the one we slept in last night. It's a bit far, so we must hurry." Firenze said, breaking into a quick run. I followed behind, but the air around us got denser and darker, making it hard for me to see. "Firenze? Where are you?" I questioned, stopping for a moment.
No reply.
My stomach dropped, what if he had fallen? What about the storm? I kept walking slowly, looking around to try and find the form of Firenze. But the odds were not in my favor. Snow was falling, and falling hard. It was not possible to see Firenze through this weather.
I started to picture the small den, wishing I was in it now. I pictured myself laying inside of it, warm and safe from the snow. Closing my eyes, two tears fell, one from each side. We had been so close, but now it would take a long time to get to the Valley of Hope. Who knows how long this storm would keep up, or how long it would be until Firenze and I were together again.
Pricking my ears, I was aware that I couldn't really hear the snow much anymore. I mean, I heard it. But not as loud anymore. And I couldn't feel it hitting my body. Bright green eyes opened, and I let out a small gasp of surprise. I was in a cave, a small cave. It looked like the one I was in last night, but had a few different details. My mind began to work, and I thought of the river, and how I had suddenly appeared at it.
Laying down, I realized how tired I was, and closed my eyes. Few times I opened them, trying to fight back the urge to sleep. But eventually it took over, and I drifted off.
♦
I opened my eyes, confused at where I was.It took a few moments for my eyes to focuse, and for me to remember where I was. Though soon I did remember, and looked around franticly for Firenze. No sign of him. My eyes flickered to the entrance of the cave. It was dark, and snowing. That make it hard to know how long I slept.
Ears pricked, I tried to listen, tried to hear Firenze if he was out there. "Perhaps I should call out to him.." I murmured, standing up. My paws started to hurt, and so did my hooves, making me wobble for a a bit. I could tell I was also still very tired, but didn't want to sleep again until Firenze and Scratch were by my side.
"Firenze!"
I called out his name, and tried to listen for his voice.
Nothing.
"Firenze!"
Calling out his name again, I prayed that I would hear a reply, but I couldn't hear anything. "Third time's a charm." I said softly, gathering all the air around me.
"Firenze!"
I listened and listened, hoping that his voice would break through the sound of the roaring snow. Yet, like the last two times, I couldn't hear anything.
Soon after that, I gave up. Sitting down, I licked the pads of my paws, green eyes clouded over with sadness. Firenze was probably dead, gone, hurt. Scratch too. Both were most likely gonners. But then, then an hit me. When I thought of the river, and the cave, I appeared there. So maybe if I thought of Firenze and the cave, he'd be brought here.
Closing my eyes, I tried to focuse. I shut out everything around me. Pictures were clearly placed in my mind, making me believe that they were actully happening. I pictured Firenze, and Scratch on his back. I pictured them seeing the small cave, and going towards it. Going towards me.
Opening my eyes, I kept my ears pricked so I could hear anything. Seconds, minutes, moments passed, and I didn't hear anything. I also knew that I was super tired, even though I can woken from a nap. But I knew not to give up, that would do me no good. And then, I heard it.
"Dapple?"
In the distance, I could make out a large form. The form of a Gonnec, and the form of a cat. Smiling widely, I stood up and waited for them to enter the cave. Once they did, I ran towards Firenze and nuzzled him, who chuckled loudly. Proud brotherly eyes met mine, and then the male went to the back of the den, laying down. "I know you had something to do with me arriving here. So tell me your story." He said, and I nodded.
♦
I told Firenze and Scratch all about the river and cave experiance, which lead to the experiance Firenze just had. I made sure that he listened to my every word, and he made sure I told every detail. Once I was done, Firenze was silent for a moment. I knew that he and Scratch must be talking in some "mind speech".
Finally, Firenze decided to speak up. "Dapple, I believe you know what this means, correct?" At that, I nodded, face blank with no expression. But inside, my stomach bubbled a bit with butterflies. "You have found your gift. The gift to teleport. That is a good gift, and not only can you teleport yourself, but others. Do not get worked up though. For that doesn't mean you can just teleport us to the Valley of Hope. Since you have just discovered your power, you have little energy to use it. That's why you are so tired at the moment." He explained.
I nodded, a bit disapointed that we couldn't just teleport to the valley. Yet again, it didn't matter much. I had discovered my power! How cool was that? Now all we needed to do was work on it a bit, and I'd be able to do a lot of cool things. But first, I wanted to sleep. I also had the feeling that Firenze and Scratch wanted to do the same.
Laying down next to my brother and the cat, I rested my head on my paws. Closing my eyes, I let my mind go black and blank, drifting off once more.
♦
Firenze has been working me all day, making me teleport all around the cave. It was tiring, but I understood that he wanted me to get better. Plus, it was still snowing outside, so there was really nothing better to do. And once I had mastered teleporting my own self around the cave, I started teleporting Scratch. He didn't really enjoy it that much. But I could tell Firenze enjoyed it a lot.
"Hey, look. The snow has gone down. I believe we can keep traveling." Firenze suddenly said, standing quickly. I then stopped what I was doing and walked over to his side, noticing that he was right. I was now able to look out into the snow and see the few bushes and rocks that stuck out. "We can travel now? Oh yay!" I said, walking out of the den.
Light snowflakes landed on my silver fur as we all looked around. Everyone was white, pure white. Some clouds were clearing up, and the sunlight was able to crawl through and shine on the snow. That made it look like the snow was glowing, that small sparkles were hiding along the white blanket. "It's so beautiful." I said softly, and Firenze huffed. "Yes, beautiful. But you must remember that is caused us a major set back in time. So we must quicken our pace today." He said.
♦
The trip up the mountain was long and boring, for we all had to travel at a very slow pace. The snow was slowing, so I wouldn't call it a storm anymore. But then again, the actual storm had covered everything in sight. And when I say everything, I mean everything.
♦
As we reached to the top of the mountain, I gasped in surprise. In the distance, I could make out a feild of flowers, and if I straned, I could faintly hear the sound of a waterfall. Though, I couldn't see it. For a moment, I wondered why the waterfall wasn't freezed up from the storm. Yet, I couldn't talk at the moment. I was too excited for that fact that I, Dapple, was so close to finding my Seer. Turning to Firenze, I asked another question. "What now? Or, as I proably should say, what are our plans?"
"We will travel down the mountain swiftly, and then go to bed. In the morning, when the sun is shining and has melted all the rain, we will search for your Seer." He said softly, and I frowned. "I have to wait a whole 'nother day? How boring." Yet, I didn't complain further. Instead I pranced down the mountain, making sure I dodged all the rocks and parts that didn't look safe. "Dapple! Wait up!" I could hear Firenze struggle to catch up with me, but he had a cat on his back, so it was hard for him.
Reaching the bottom of the mountain wasn't as hard as it was climbing up the mountain. It was like the starting point of the mountain, on the other side, was deeper then the ending point of the mountain. Firenze tried to explain why, but I sorta zoned out and didn't pay attention as he was explaining though. But, what can you expect?
♦
"Ok, we will be sleeping here. I suggest we go to bed now and then in the morning, we can search for your Seer." Firenze said, laying down in the small den we were both in. Scratch layed behind him and within minutes, both were fast asleep. I giggled at the picture of them both snoring, and then slowly exited the den.
Firenze would probably be mad at me when he found out I didn't go to bed, but what could I do? I was so close to finding my Seer, and I wasn't not going to fall asleep until I found it. Looking around, I took in the beauty of the area, and how amazing it seemed to be. The feild was covered in wild flowers of many colors. Green, yellow, purple, pink, and blue. All shaded in a pastel color. It was beautiful. Yet I has I pricked my ears, I could still here the sound of the waterfall, the one thing I really wanted to see.
Following the sound of rushing water, I could hear the sound get louder and louder, so I knew I was close. Excitement bubbled inside of me, and a small part of my heart told me that my Seer would be here. Trees started to hang around as I left the feild, gnarled branches only letting a few rays of the moon through them. I made sure to keep my ears pricked and eyes straight ahead of me. The sound of water thundered loudly, and I walked through some bushes, comming to a stop.
The waterfall was glowing. Yes, glowing. It was huge and a was closing a crystal colored white, shimmering and sparkling as the waterfell. For a moment I wanted to call it a "diamondfall", because it didn't look like water was even falling from it. Instead, it seemed like a hundred sparkling jewls were falling.
♦
My ears pricked all of the sudden, and I heard a high pitched sound. This sound seemed to come from behind the waterfall, and it was a whistle-like sound. A very beautiful, whistle-like sound. Curiousity sparked inside of me, and I felt a small tug on my heart. Something was behind that waterfall, and I had a feeling that I should find out what the sound is.
There was only one problem, I had to find a way to get to the other side of the waterfall. I could jump, but I didn't know how strong this waterfall was. Looking hard, I tried to see how fast the water was falling, but it was so clumped together that it was hard to tell. That left me with one choice. Jump and pray I get through. Taking a deep breath, I listened to the whistling, closed my eyes, ran and then jumped.
My body and face collided with hard, cold, ground. I huffed and then sat up, gasping in shock. Crystals. Crystals everywhere, glowing from the walls of the cave I seemed to be in. It was these crystals that made it look like the waterfall was glowing. "How amazing.." I murmured to myself, standing up. I was soaking wet, but I didn't seem to have any broken bones. Shaking the water from my fur, I slowly started to walk through the cave, ears pricked as the whistling got louder and louder over the waterfall.
When I reached the end of the waterfall, I came to a stop and and my eyes twinkled. At the end of the cave, the crystals glowed and allowed me to see the form of a small bird. I could tell that the bird was the one whistling, but I couldn't really make out what it looked like. Taking a step closer, in a quiet voice, I said. "Hello?"
The bird then stopped whistling and let out a surprised chirp, whirling around. It's eyes met mine and in seconds, it disolved into thin air. I let out a gasp. "Wait!" Yet I knew that if the bird had disolved in thin air, there was no catching up to it. "So..you can teleport too. Well, I can play at this game also."
♦
Closing my eyes, I pictured the bird as good as I possibly could. One thing I remembered about this bird was her eyes. For a split second, before the bird fled, I caught sight of it's eyes. Bright red. A glowing red color, which wasn't my style at all. Soon I felt a bit lightheaded, and knew my plan was starting to work.
My eyes openeded, and I caught sight of the bird eating grass. Slowly, I crept up towards it, and at the right moment, pounced. In a way, I felt like some type of panther, and I bet the bird felt that way too. "Eek! Dont eat me! Dont eat me! Gah, it wont work, you can't understand me, so you'll eat me. Make it quick, please." At the bird's words, I gave it a confused look, and cocked my head. "Actully, I can understand you. And I'm a Goennec, I dont eat birds." I said with a chuckle, and the bird's eyes grew wide. "You can understand me? But, how? And how did you catch up to me?" It asked, and I smiled, taking my paws off the bird. To my surprise, she stayed put.
"My name is Dapple, and I got to you the same way you got away from me. I teleported. See, my friend Firenze said I'm a Seeker, and I'm supposed to find my Seer here." I explained, and the bird nodded at my words. "Well, hello Dapple. I'm Plume, and I have the same gift as you. I was told I'd find my Seeker here, so I'm guessing it's you. Odd way for us to meet though." She said softly, dusting herself off with her wings. "So, did you find me from my singing?" She questioned, and I nodded. "Yup, it was beautiful, such a nice tune you have. May I show you to my friends now? And then we can go to sleep? Cause I'm tired."
♦
"Firenze! Scratch! Wake up!" I exclaimed, shoving Firenze. He let out a grumbled and opened his eyes slowly, a frown on his face. "What is it, Dapple?" He questioned, slowly sitting up. At the sight of Plume, he cocked his head and blocked Scratch with a paw, who seemed hungry at the sight of the bird.
Placing my paw protectively in front of Plume, I explained everything that had happened. Me wandering off, jumping through the waterfall, the crystal cave, seeing Plume, watching her fade away, everything. He nodded and made light sounds during the story, frowning at certain parts also. Once I was done, I bit my lip, cause he didn't look too happy. "Dapple," he began. "I understand your curiousity of the situation when it comes to finding a Seer, but please do remember not to wander off. You could have just woken me before you wandered off. So next time we ever have to wait for something, please just wait. On the bright side though, I'm proud that you've found your Seer. Plume sounds like an amazing bird to me." He said, and I let the butterflies out of my stomach with one big breath.
"Thank you, Firenze. I'm glad that you're not totally mad at me. Next time I will wait. I just heard her signing, and I had to go towards it. I mean, if I didn't find her a while ago, I might have never found her. And oh," I said, looking at Scratch. "That's Scratch, he's Firenze's Seer. He wont eat you, I promise." I said with a giggle, though Plume didn't seem too convinced.
"Well, uh, now your awake, Firenze. But me and Plume want to go to sleep, we're both pretty tired. And there isn't much night left, so I'm gonna go to bed now." I said slowly, easing into a laying position as Firenze's eyes were locked onto mine, a amused grin on his face. "Yeah, sure Dapple. You two go to bed. I'll keep watch." He said, and I closed my eyes.
BIG WIP
~Ƴσʋ Δяɛ Ɯαитɛ∂~
Dapple will be used for many, many things by me. She will be placed in my Character thread, for I have two, she will be placed in my "Favorite Characters" thread. I'd like to spoil her with art, bought from only the best artists. I will create different stories about her, and make sure she gets much love. I will also put her into the roleplay, and roleplay her alot. She is beautiful, yet normal at the same time. For some reason she seems to pull me in every time I look at her. I also plan to put her into a big story I'm writing, which revolves around her history. I hope to get her, and once I do, I promise I'll never let her collect dust.
Also, the advent calender has been very good to me. I have gotten tons of Very Rares, Grapes, an Apple, and a CE Galaxy. With all of those pets, I've decided I want to hold a contest. If I get Dapple, she'll be apart of my contest, so that will allow her to get tons of beautiful art.
