I would like to adopt!
Number: 1
Picture:

Name: Selene (after one of the Greek goddesses of the moon)
Species: Unknown, thought to be some sort of canine
Personality: Selene is the kind of creature to give great thought to even the most abstract ideas. She wonders about things and tries to think about how they fit into the grand scheme of things. This indeed can take up a great deal of her time which she doesn't mind. However, this means that she is not the social creature and would rather be alone where she can think in peace and quiet. This does not mean that she is a complete hermit; in fact she would love to have someone care for her or just be with her, so long as they could put up with her muttered ramblings about why the world continues to spin when it could just stand still and follow along its usual orbit and other such things that most people wouldn't give a second thought to. She will be quite the nice creature, asking if you want something to eat, if you interrupt her but it would still be easily noticed that she drops the bowl of whatever she is carrying onto her paw when she starts to theorize again.
Selene is also, due to her thoughtful nature, a very avid observer of what goes on around her. If she happens to be in the same room as you and another being and you start to argue about whether or not someone said something she will be able to remark with certainty that the other participant did indeed say that oranges are yellow before returning to poking around at any corners or other usually unnoticed places nearby. She also possesses the ability to sit outside for hours, watching the trees and animals pass through while she goes mostly unseen or unnoticed, as if she were a benevolent statue that stands watch for some royal procession of life.
Likes: Ideas to ponder, easy to prepare and eat foods, silence.
Dislikes: Crowds, monkeys (as odd as that sounds she's had a couple bother her every now and then and they're quite loud and obnoxious creatures), unfounded arguments (surely someone would have the common sense to know about the thing they are talking about).
Background: It is unknown as to who or what Selene was born to. The earliest thing she knows about herself (or that anyone knows about her) is that she was discovered under a huckleberry bush when she was a pup by a child. At the time Selene had developed none of her current colors or markings and was a supposed gray color, though light tints of purple were visible. She was taken in by the child's family and raised for a while as a normal dog, though her extremely thin tail and long ears slightly unsettled them. Nonetheless, for the first year of her life she lived as any other pet would have lived- fed first dog formula and then dry puppy chow, surrounded and adored by children almost constantly and oohed and aahed at when she was taken on walks, though she was the type to shy away from strangers and to try to stay away from her leash whenever someone was near the door. Other than those few "discrepancies", life was normal for her and she even gained the name Selene from one observant girl who noted that she was gaining small white spots on her back which looked almost like moons.
However, it wasn't long before the family and other humans around them started to really take note of Selene's odd appearance and soon the parents started to irrationally fear that she was some sort of ill omen when her coat colors and some of her unfriendly behaviors started to show. This was only worsened when the same child who had found and named her, a seven year old by the name of Trixie, suddenly became sick and died of pneumonia. They abandoned the young canine in the forest nearby, and she feared that she wouldn't make it through the night. She was a small animal and brightly colored, quite a target for any sort of hungry beast. However, upon daybreak, nothing had bothered her and in fact she had discovered, come mid-afternoon, that some of the other creatures found her quite the curiosity and so decided to help her learn just how to survive in a land such as this.
After a few months or so of some of the forest canines and other wild animals aiding her Selene was able to take care of herself and be able to follow her own interests fully. Upon discovering that she had matured both physically and mentally faster than most animals her size she started to come up with theories for why that was, which soon brought her to think about how she could be such an unnatural color, which then led her to ponder many other things that would be brought to mind. She didn't particularly miss the life she had been forced out of but she sometimes dwelt upon Trixie and how easy life was back then. She surely didn't miss some of the other aspects and in fact discovered over time that she liked being able to go and do whatever she wished so much more fulfilling.
A picture you drew: None. I tried and basically I think it might subtract points, it's that bad (I'm horrible at drawing animals). So, I'll just stick with my writing stuff then. :]
