Tracker Dog you want:
#66

Name you'll give it:
Vinci -Named after Leonardo Da Vinci

Reason why you want it:
Such an astonishing tracker. The framed wings, The Steam-Punk design. Truly beautiful. It would be such an honor to own her. She reminds me of my favorite artist and inventor, Leonardo Da Vinci. That is why i would name her Vinci.

Will it be used in any kind of story?
Yes. Why not? A wonderful tracker like her NEEDS a story.

Describe its personality:
She isn't bold, or strong. Actually, Vinci is a little self-concise. She is worried what people will think of her, and she is scared she will be made fun of.

Write an introduction for your Tracker:
Vinci stood in line, with her handler Sky, waiting for her turn to go on stage. It was the day of the big Tracker Show. And Vinci was scared to death. I know i wont be good enough! No one will like me! Thoughts whirled through her head. Seeing her tense, Sky patted her head, "You'll do great." She whispered to Vinci. One by one the other trackers got on stage, They were all so astonishing. Vinci wanted to run, there were so many trackers here, so many prettier than her. Then she heard a comforting voice behind her, "You are better than all of them." It was Sky, her handler. She suddenly felt better. Hours of waiting went by, and finally, She was next! The tracker before her walked of stage, then suddenly, the judge called out her name. It was time to go on stage. Sky walked her up onto stage. Everyone was looking at her. She walked in a circle, then she stood in the center and howled. Everyone "Oood" and "Awwed" At her glory. She walked off stage with everyone cheering. "You were brilliant!" Sky exclaimed. A few more trackers went on stage. A while after, they started announcing winners. "In 3rd place... Steven and his tracker Night! In 2nd place... Joe and his tracker Starr! And in 1st place... Sky and her tracker Vinci!" Everyone clapped and cheered for Vinci. "I told you you could do it!" Sky murmured to Vinci. "And you won."
-----------------------------------
They started driving home 30 minutes later. In the back seat, Vinci was staring at her medal with Awe sining in her eyes. Sky, with her eyes on the road said, "Lets get you a steak when we get home." Vinci yelped in excitement. Only a few moments later, a car dove down the wrong side on the road. Before Sky could scream, They were in the hospital. The other car smashed into them, head on. Vinci was in a hospital bed next to hers. There was blood trickling from her mouth and a gash on her side. Sky felt a tear rool down her face. "Don't die.." she whispered before blacking out.
----------------------------------
She woke the next day, pain throbbing in her head. Vinci was no longer in the room. "Iv'e brought someone to see you." the doctor said, his tone cheery. The door swung open and a doctor entered the room, following her was Vinci, limping with a cast on one wing and another one her left leg. Vinci ran to the bed. She licked Sky's face. "You guys can go home this afternoon. And we have a present for you, Sky, Vinci made it herself!" Vinci left the room and came back with a medal the inscribed in scribbled writing were the words "Best owner".

Nex wrote:Alive or dead? That's for you to decide. Clinically, this Tracker is alive and well. He's resistant against infections or disease and the bone plates on its back are natural. The ribcage around its middle can be moved like wings to gain a more intimidating appearance, though he cannot fly. His hearing equals that of other Trackers. Perhaps its biggest feature is the second mouth. This mouth "opens" when he moves his neck, and even though it may seem hollow inside, inside is simply another strip of skin that covers the muscles and bone. He has some control over this mouth, but it's all for show.

Tracker Dog you want:
Tracker #65

Name you'll give it:
Catafalque- (Kat-a-falk)
A raised soapbox, bier or similar platform that supports a coffin containing a body (if available) during a funeral. As a Forensic Pathologist's assistant, he supports finding bodies, discovering their cause of death if possible and then put them to rest with their families. In short, much like a catafalque, this Tracker would prepare a body ready for a funeral. Also, the whole appearance of this Tracker gives an 'after-life' feel, looking at the exposed bone, 'rib-like' structure on his back, and boney out growths where the ears would be. Could also be called 'zombified'.

✔ Likes: ✔
Attention
He likes to be praised, and to know people acknowledge his extreme forensic talent and intelligence.
Night time
This gives him an even more eerie appearance as well as the fact it seems he is more alone with his thoughts when everyone is asleep.
Hissing at people
Cata likes feeling superior to people, and when he knows people are scared of him he feels like he's accomplished something.
Bones laid out anatomically
He has been taught that everything should be in order, and seeing a body that is not or is incomplete contradicts this teaching.

✖ Dislikes: ✖
Being yelled at
As he doesn't like being wrong, assuming someone is shouting at him for being wrong would upset him.
His full name/nickname 'tracker #65'
As said earlier, he likes feeling superior to others. Being addressed or talked about with his breed as a forename and a number as his surname.
Owls
Simple this one. Large flying animals that squeak and flap scare him.

Will it be used in any kind of story?
Probably. Simply writing and introduction for this Tracker would not be enough to elaborate on it's personality and job. I will be attempting to write a fictional story about a serial killer possibly involving hostages and/or the family of the team working against the murderer, Trackers making the chase more exciting.

Reason why you want it:
I know it sounds really cheesy saying 'Oh, I simply LOVE this Tracker!' but to be honest, I really do like the line art edits of, well, this whole series. But, this is my favorite. My part of the tracker however, is not it's arguably most prominent feature, the second mouth, but the external ribs/wings. I think the reason I love these so much is that they are a cross between bones, zombified flesh and bat wings, all of which are my favored fictional features of any character. Also, the detail of it's body including the various parts of exposed bone can be used in a detailed backstory I have planned.

.:The Occupation:.

The Accident
(below) Injuries sustained from the accident.
Image
Text reads:
tongue extensively burned and had to be surgically removed.
Ear cartilage and some skin burned away by explosion.
Shrapnel split throat through to spine.
Shoulder blades and 7 thoracic vertebrae severely bruised.
Ilium, femur and tibia needed to be permanently pinned in place.
Humerus and scapula also in need of pinning.
[End of muzzle also burned down to the bone]

Journalist wrote:Today at Nexivyle Ta'ar's infamous 'Tracker Dog Facility' there has been an explosion inside one of the labs. The origin of the incident is so far unknown, although experts suggest it may have been caused by a mercury leak from one of the older heating pipes into a spill of Nitric acid and Ethanol. Ta'ar has said nothing on the matter, and refuses to until further notice. The fire detection system wired into the walls and celings of the lab detected the explosion, and sealed it into one room to obviously prevent spreading. Little money need be spent on restoring the lab, as it was temporarily not in use. No-one has been killed or seriously hurt, apart from one Tracker Dog that was still undergoing tests ready for adoption. The dog was residing in the lab during the period in which he might be observed by potential adoptees. The canine is currently under going sever surgery to try and save it's life, but it is unknown if the dog will live through the night. The most likely person to adopt Tracker #65, Forensic Pathologist Clarissa Waters, is apparently from sources distraught and wished the best for the dog. Surgery is taking place later today, and has everyone at the Facility on the edge of their seats.

Surgeon operating on Tracker #65 wrote:Post-Op Analysis:
After the surgery I performed on this canine we concluded that the operation had to lead to major cosmetic-like surgery. The burned part of the tongue was removed without trouble, and was done carefully as to avoid harming the nerves or taste-buds. How the tongue flicks in and out. Concerning the ears, there was not much to be done to save the skin and cartilage, but where the inner ear bones had been shifted due to such close contact with such pressure, we were able to realign to restore the hearing. After sever bruising and from what I understand a ceiling panel falling in on the animal the T4-T11 vertebrae were damaged to the extent that they were unable to support the back of the Tracker. Therfore, we had to remove the thoracic four through eleven and elevated it above the skin so as not to rupture the spinal cord. Below the skin and the segment of spinal column is a large stainless steel tube now sits to support the rest of the body.

Image
How spines join to bones. Ilium given as an example.

Bones such as the base of the ilium, femur, tibia, humerus and fringes of the scapula were all broken and so badly bruised that they needed to be permanently pinned in place. The pins had to be disguised as boney outgrowths so that they can be trimmed, tightened or readjusted should it become apparent. The severity of the burnt muzzle was too much so that we could save the skin, but we did manege to fuse the skin surrounding the muzzle to the bone so that there would be no chance of infection. However, there is going to be some numbing around that area, as we did have to join the skin and bone at the expense of some nerves. The most prominent change is the 'mouth' on it's neck. From what I understand, a large piece of flying metal or glass (undetermined at this point) slashed the skin and surrounding muscle of the dog. We couldn't save much of the nerve tissue, but we have managed to customize the slit into a 'mouth' looking appearance. It is not functional as an actual mouth, but can be opened slightly. Thick tendons run through the middle surrounded by a layer of skin hiding the bone and muscular tissue.

Catafalque before the accident and the surgery.

Properties useful to Forensic Pathology:

Saliva:
The salivation of this Tracker contains unique components; emulsifying properties have been interpreted to enable use in cleaning bones after all information possible is obtained from the flesh. It also speeds the effect of putrefying bacteria, resulting in smaller bones such as the hyoid and inner ear bones to be preserved with ease.

Mouth Glands:
At the back of Catafalque's throat, he has glands which give him the ability to spray a liquid out of his mouth. however, this is not for defense or even attack, but for investigatory purposes. When he was younger and new to the pathology business, they took him out onto the field to search for forensic evidence. He ended up eating a glass vial of luminol. Luminol is used to spray on surfaces and if any is present, blood spatters will glow bright blue and since then he has been able to spray it from the glands that have formed in his mouth.

Immunity:
The lack of venerability to infection suits the job Dr. Clarissa Waters intends for this Tracker, as whilst locating and working over human remains. Where people would have to wear safety masks and Bio Suits he could examine detail without safety wear getting in the way.

Tongue:
Of course the shortened tongue was not done cosmetically in a way to suit Dr. Clarissa Waters and her job identifying murder victims and their cause of death, but the shortened tongue does in a way suit the job. When the Tracker would be leaning over victims, having a long tongue would compromise the remains. Whilst Having it trimmed back is although the cause of a tragic accident, but is also very helpful towards this Tracker's use.

Describe its personality:

. intimidating .
As a more unusual looking tracker, he often is looked down on. To intimidate makes him feel like the people that offend him haven't won, and that they would know not to bother him anymore. It gives him a feeling of authority over other 'philistines' as he has Clarissa mention before.

. protective .
He will protect anyone who he seems worthy. He knows the difference between right and wrong, and also knows there is a fine line separating the two. As he is quite intimidating, he rarely has to use his claws, teeth and toxic chemicals developed after the introduction of forensics habitant in his mouth.

. sweet hearted .
Cata enjoys the feeling of belonging, and in turn enjoys being affectionate with his loved ones. His thought process works out that if people have earned the right to be loved, they deserve to get it. He often empathizes with homicide victims and murderers alike, as he has been through a lot including having to deal with the constant confused or even disgusted looks he is shot. However, as a professional Forensic Pathologist/Coroner's assistant, he tries to keep his emotions towards the case as discrete and minimal as possible.

. logical .
He uses his brain straight forwardly, and tries to limit situations to numbers and objects. He cuts all emotional ties with the victims where possible, to make sure that nothing personal is obscuring his work. The only real time when he shows any kind of emotion towards a case, is after it; he often makes sure the murderer gets what's coming to him.

. ophthalmophobic .
Ophthalmophobia- the fear of being stared at. Before his accident, Catafalque was a beautiful tracker. He was often praised for being a 'pretty boy' and 'so beautiful'. Now, he is only stared at because he looks like some kind of post-apocalyptic creature. He misses the compliments and now, whenever he is stared at his self esteem lowers evermore.

. rebellious .
Cata resist regimentation with tiny symbols of rebellion such as moving the remains to conduct small, unauthorized tests. Being as smart and as intelectually gifted as himself, he seems that he can get away with pretty much anything; he figures that the world of forensics cannot possibly do without him.

:.The Story:.
Warning: One use of mild language.

'I've got a nice fresh one for you Doctor Waters. This here, is my Christmas present to you.' The chirpy Special Agent Hunt said, leading a group of FBI scientists into my lab with a body bag rested on a wheeled table. 'Guess where we found this one.' Hunt often delivered suspected homicide victim's corpses to my lab, although i'd seen less and less of him recently... I believe he was busy with a certain 'mass-grave in public park' case. I didn't really bother to read up on it much however, since the victims were all bones. My motto is 'if it ain't got guts, it ain't for us' ... corny I know, but it's really just an inside joke between the other forensic scientists and I.
'Thank you Agent Hunt,' I turned to the FBI forensics team. 'Up here boys, as usual.' Moments later when the body bag had been securely lifted onto the examination table, I unzipped it. A face strewn with terror stared back at mine as my eyes met the empty eye sockets. It's mouth was stretched wide open, and it's hands curled up in a defensive manner.

It stunk.

'Caucasian female ... late twenties - early thirties... Where did you say you found the remains, Agent?' I said, choking back tears. The stench seeped out, and filled the once fresh, clean air. I am obviously used to the foul smell of natural decomposition, but this one was something else. The smell reminded me of Christmas, or rather the day after Christmas. You know, the time you have turkey sandwiches for the following week from all the leftovers of the food everyone failed to eat on the 'special day'? Well, it was that, mixed with rotting body and something that's emanated from a sewer. My immediate thought? Someone offed their partner after a rubbish Christmas present. I didn't think I could stand it. But no way was I showing weakness around a body and Hunt.
'A kid found it on the beach with his dog. Playing fetch apparently.' Hunt said, leaning over my shoulder.
'Why is the right arm severed?' I asked avoiding eye contact.
'The kid nearly passed out when his lab came back with a human arm.' He chuckled to himself. I think he just has a sick sense of humor sometimes. I once told him of a set of remains belonging to a child who drowned in a toilet bowel; he couldn't stop laughing for weeks. 'That'll explain the canine teeth marks in what's left of the muscle tissue surrounding the right humerus.' I gently lifted up the arm that was laying next to the body. Nearly hitting Hunt on the cheek with the dead floppy hand, I set the arm back down again. Turning to the Agent again, I removed my protective gloves.
'The body was probably dumped in some kind of river and found it's way to the sea. I see no evidence of swim wear on the victim, indicating the victim wasn't killed at the beach... It seems she's wearing some kind of long fluffy material around her neck. Possibly a scarf or feather boa or -'
'Tinsel!' Hunt exclaimed, causing me to jump in surprise. He looked at me, and obviously confused my annoyed expression with that of a confused person edging him on tho explain. 'You know ... ? That you decorate a tree with?'
'I know what tinsel is.' I snapped back.
'Well? Can't you get DNA from it or something?'
'And what would you want me to do with that particular sample of DNA?'
'Use it to identify the victim of course! Jeez, you scientist aren't as smart as you say you are.'
That tipped me right over the edge. 'Just having DNA doesn't mean you magically mean your victim has a known identity does it?!' I yelled, stepping forward into his face. Everyone turned and looked at me. I heard a deep growl... A darkened purple figure danced in the shadows and edged towards me, the odd bright green flashes alerting me to what was coming for me.

Melanthe.

Melanthe was Hunt's tracker and she was the most spiteful yet cunning being I know. I have never liked her, and she has never seemed to like me. I reckon Hunt just brings her along everywhere to show off, because the sheer size of that man assured anyone he didn't need protecting. She leaped in my direction, teeth bared and striking tongue flopping out the side of her mouth. However, as I anticipated the ,blow of claws and teeth hitting me at great force, a swoosh of air passed by me but in all the chaos I had my eyes tightly shut. Realizing that Melanthe wasn't going to necessarily hurt me, or possibly hadn't yet, I opened my eye lids a sliver... IT was Catafalque. He had got to me in time.

Catafalque landed on top of Melanthe and was standing on her back, pushing her face into the floor with both front paws.
'Control your damn mutt!' Hunt said, running forward and pushing Cata off of Mel's back.
'I think you'll find your dog came for me first!' I said, pulling Falque off the floor and dusting him off. 'You know what? Get out of my lab! Go on! All of you FBI philistines!'
Hunt whistled and, tapping Melanthe on the back of the head, he made for the door.
'Come on boys. It looks like we've outstayed our welcome.' He said, before I muttered the words;

'You were never welcome.'
*****

'Two stab wounds to the left temporal bone... Seems symetrical ...' I said, gently moving the victim's hair away from the wound. 'Possibly a stungun or some kind of projectile. But... But theirs no micro-fractures or bullet debris suggesting not...'
'The flesh did show evidence of burn patches but nothing congruent with a stungun of cattleprod.' Explained assistant Doctor Flora Bennet. 'It looks like a case I worked on before... A man scolded his son with boiling water before locking him in a wardrobe to starve.' I shot her a look of shock.
'sick what people do these days.' I said, standing up. I took my gloves off. 'cause of death, stab wound to the head penetrating the temporal lobe.'
'oh and before you leave, Doctor Waters, we found this around the victim's ankle.' Upon hearing the words, I turned to see Doctor Flora holding something. 'It looks like some kind of chain with gems encrusted in it. Oh, and there's a little plaque on it... It seems to say something... 'What they call weird-'
'I call unique.' I finished, interrupting Flora.
'Yes, Doctor Waters, how did you know that?'
'The victim was my sister.'
*****

How the hell had this happened? What had she done that had got her killed? I contemplated multiple scenarios in my head, and speculated different suspects. My thoughts however, were interrupted by the repetitive thumping of shoes against the tiled floor. 'Are you sure you're alright to work on this case?' Boomed the voice of Agent Hunt. As expected, Melanthe followed.
'I'm fine.' I said, gently turning my head to face him. After a few seconds of awkward staring, I followed with a simple, 'Did you want something or...?'
'Only to say we have a definitive identification. Mrs Margaret Anderson, formerly known as Maggie Waters. I'm sorry. I can only imagine how you feel.'
'I told you, I'm fine!' I said, with a more defiant tone this time. Hunt's problem is that he simply couldn't listen to anyone. The only person who actually properly got through to him was Deputy Director Parker and his damned tracker. Well, to my knowledge. He walked closer towards me and pulled one of the lab stools next to mine. Luckily, I avoided every awkward moment there could have been, because one of the FBI 'lab rats' as Hunt called them walked forward, and held out a sheet of paper. Residue still left on the skin of the victim turned out to be a mix of bones, vegetables and animal blood.'
'The workings of a ritualistic cannibal?' I said, ignoring Hunts shocked stares floating my way out of the corner of my eye.
'Poultry stock.' Hunt said, obviously less enthusiastic as the whole 'tinsel' episode, but none the less stealing my limelight and interrupting the two genius minds at work. I turned to him and immediately decided to quiz him if he thought he knew it all.
'Well, it's Christmas and someone got angry. Didn't you say she got burned too? My guess is that the guy threw the turkey at her and she got burned by the stock. Hey, didn't you say she got stabbed in the head with a two pronged knife? What about a calving fork?'
The other scientist looked at me as I looked back. Then we both looked at Hunt. 'It fits I guess.' I said slowly, thinking of the cruel bastard that did this to my sister. 'We need to look in her apartment. Falque can find more forensic evidence to help positively identify the murderer.' I followed, standing up and whistling for Catafalque who had been sleeping in my office this whole time. He padded out towards me, tongue flicking in and out of his mouth like a serpent.
'No, we don't need you at the crime scene. Melanthe can find any missed evidence.' Hunt replied, obviously offended that I didn't think his tracker was up to it.
'To be frank, I don't think your Tracker is equipped with the abilities to complete the tasks at hand. Granted, Melanthe has more stamina and is more able to fight and run, but what Catafalque lacks in those areas he makes up in the more fine detailed aspects of the occupation. Areas where Melanthe is obviously less off.' I replied, running my hand from Falque's muzzle down to the back of his head soothingly.
'I...I ... Urgh. Okay. But I'm going to be there with you at all times as well as a full forensic team. AND I want you to bring all of your lab-rats with you.' He stuttered, before standing up and walking out of the room. The scientist and I exchanged looks, and after a smile of sympathy for Hunt's inferior knowledge, we too followed. Reaching the sliding doors to the lab, I reached round the corner and turned the examination platform lights off and all was quiet and still. Looking down at the eager tracker, I smiled not realizing the other scientist had walked ahead without me. As I wrapped a scarf around his neck covering his second mouth, I gently uttered the words:
'Falque, we're going out tomorrow.'

Ohman, I love this form. ;^;
Granted, Becca's had really nice animations (kudos to you, Becca), but this form had a certain consistency that I adore. It just fits. Plus, the pencil drawings were a nice bonus.
Congrats, Booth.

Also, I'm going to add an extra day to the remaining two Trackers. Mainly because I want to give you all a fair chance at finishing up your last forms, but also because I know that tomorrow might be an important day to some of you and I wouldn't want to cause any unecessary hassle.
