I hope this isn't too long!



It was a bright summer day and two cats were hanging around outside. The ginger she-cat had brought a cold glass of lemonade with her, which she was now sipping from enthusiastically. The red umbrella in the glass was sort of getting in her way, though. The white tom beside her suddenly felt something touch his nose. He crossed his blue eyes to see a tiny, black spot sitting on his nose.

"What's this on my nose?" the white tom asked quizzically.

The ginger she-cat was pulling the umbrella out of her drink. "What was that?"

"There's something...on my nose..." The white tom reached a paw up to swipe at it, but the she-cat yelped.

"Stop! Don't you know what that is?"

"What?"

"It's a Musca domestica!" The ginger she-cat snickered as the white tom's eyed widened in fright. "It's a common housefly, silly!"

The fly's wings fluttered and it flew away, giggling.
