.:Tracker Dog Application Series 20:.
.:Username - Jezi Tracker Dog you want - #62 Name you'll give it - Mage:.
Reason why you want it - This tracker... is beautiful, mysterious,
and extremely intriguing. Her "magic" illusion ability draws me in,
makes me wonder "how does it work?", "can I write about her
effectively?", and leaves me wanting to challenge myself in
writing about her. When I look at her I see "Mage" not just
"another tracker". Her abilities make her unique, make me want
her, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that wants her because she's
unique, so I'll tell you why else I want her: Her personality. She's
smart, calm, curious, assertive, she seems like quite the interesting
character even without her ability, this is what makes me want her.
Will it be used in any kind of story? - Yes, it would be
unfair to let a tracker such as her sit useless. Trying to
think of a purpose for her has taken me a bit, I'll admit,
but now I know exactly what her story is going to be and
the only writing challenge left is actually writing it. I look
forward to learning how to write about her abilities and
her adventures and hope I get the chance to write more
than just the introduction below. Her stories will likely
be short stories, like my other tracker Revo's are. I will
hopefully be able to write many stories about her.
"I can't do magic...

But I can make it look like magic." Personality - Calm, Assertive, Curious, Intelligent,
Needy, Kind, Innovative, Cunning, Illusionist
Calm - Mage is calm in every situation and
never gets worked up over anything.
Assertive - If you're not doing what Mage wants you
to do you can bet she'll make you do it.
Curious - If she sees something that interests her
in some way she'll be quick to go check it out.
Intelligent - Mage is quick to learn and quick to
invent, constantly devising new illusions.
Needy - Due to the massive amount of energy she
uses to create her illusions, Mage can at
times be needy. She likes to be waited on.
Kind - Very kind at heart, she
even at times is seen to take it easy on those
she is meant to be torturing with her illusions.
Innovative - She sometimes creates illusions on
the spot, she is good at improv.
Cunning - Mage can be quite inventive in ways to
use her abilities in changing a situation, rarely
ending up on the short end of the stick.
Illusionist - If she could speak it's likely she would be
quite the illusionist with her words as well as actions
Tracker File - Mage
Abilities - Illusions, both of the visual and audio kind. She can
create false scenes by projecting large amounts of energy into her
environment and manipulating that energy. To create audio illusions
she can either send out waves of energy in patterns to create false
audio or contain the energy waves around her to eliminate the audio.
Purpose - Police Force: Interrogation and Negotiation Division. Her
unique illusion ability makes her quite useful in this field. During
interrogations she is used to 'torture' suspects with the images of
what they believe the suspect has done, or want the suspect to
believe they know about what the suspect has done. This is a
very useful interrogation tool. When used for negotiation
purposes, usually in the sense of hostage negotiations, she is
used to show the hostage holder/kidnapper in a scene that
they get what they want and she gets them to turn over the
hostage(s).
Special Notes - Having been used for some time as an entertainer
for kids' parties, she loves kids, she will always be soft on them.
She is particularly fond of Kari's daughter Maddie and guards her
fiercely.
Owner File - Kari
Occupation - Police Officer: Interrogation and
Negotiation Division. She works as Mage's handler and
partner, assisting Mage in her job by playing a part in
illusions at times as well as being Mage's 'stoplight',
telling her when to start and end her illusions. She
also works as Mage's 'attendant' while Mage is worn
out from expending energy on illusions.
Relations - Her relations outside of work include
her husband (Fin; owner of Revo) and her young
daughter (Maddie). She juggles work and motherhood
daily, often bringing Maddie to work with her on slow
days.
Special Notes - She was once a worker in the FBI but left
her job to have more time at home so she could have
a family. What her job was in the FBI is unclear, but
at times it seems like she knows about something
others don't, she never reveals anything however
and her exact past remains a mystery. Perhaps one
day this past will be revealed.
For Your Entertainment - A Short Memoir
Every great star has to start somewhere I suppose,
even the illusionists who are the stars of the 'magic'
world. I feel at times I went in the wrong order,
entertainment first and work second though I
would never complain now. When I first left that
lab where I had been born and raised I left with
the assurance I would bring joy to hundreds of
children, ready to be a stage monkey. I played
this part for a couple year, and I enjoyed it.
After a while; however, the parents began to
annoy me. Each and every one of them wanted
their child's party to be the best and for a
long time I tried to do what they wanted but I was
exhausted. I lost the motivation I needed to stay
at my peak performance and stopped creating
new illusions, none of them knew they difference
when I did. After a while all of my performances
merged together in my mind, they were always
so much the same and I no longer remembered
specific children and remembered only which
ones had pulled my fur the hardest, they were
often the smallest ones. Even with how much
I loved the children I was still glad the day Kari
took me to my current occupation, it's much more
interesting.

Putting On A Show - The Process Behind Creating Illusions
Of course the question they all want to know the answer to is: How do I do it? I can not see my own illusions so how do I create all those dazzling images dancing before their eyes? They call it magic and I call it science. All it takes is a bit of energy and creativity to get it going. I'll begin of course, with deciding what I want to show them and taking into account the environment around me, not every illusion can be done in every environment. I ask myself the essential questions: what nearby objects can I move and manipulate as part of the illusion?; What do I need to do to intimidate this person?; What's in the air? You see, all of these questions require answers as I construct my illusions, from the large objects in the area that can be used to create loud noises if necessary, to the smallest particles in the air which can play just as large a part as anything, if not a larger. It's amazing what you find in the air really, millions of tiny particles constantly moving though we never spare them a thought, gather them up and concentrate them in one area, one shape, and you have a basic illusion. Manipulate the large objects nearby, create sound, and your illusion will become solid in the human mind, real. I sometimes contemplate how it is that so few understand this, these humans whose brains are supposedly the most advanced on earth have barely scrapped the top off the possibilities of innovation in the world around them, but that's another topic for another time. I have told you how I create my illusions and that is all I wanted to do.
All In A Day's Work - Purpose and Work Day
A tracker is only good if they can fulfill their purpose, and it is with great joy that I fulfill mine. My day starts much like that of many, an alarm droning in my ears rousing me from my sleep, I can't shut the alarm off myself so I must wake Kari so she may turn it off for me. We eat breakfast, linger in front of the door longer than necessary as we decide the worth of the day's paycheck compared to our bodies' fatigue, and finally head on our way to the station. Arriving there, it is likely on a typical day that we have a suspect waiting for interrogation that was brought in the night before, we set to work quickly, we both know the routine. Stepping in to the interrogation room there are many things I sense, the cool metal table with matching chairs and the warm heat of a body coming from the same place. The suspect is always cuffed, granted loosely, even during 'relaxed' interrogations, all of the criminals we deal with have committed multiple crimes and in many cases serious crimes such as murder. My job when I first go in is to be the 'comforter', letting the suspects think I am a 'friendly dog' as Kari asks them simple questions to see if they are planning to cooperate, if they are; I am unneeded. I hope ever so much that they don't want to cooperate so that I may release the energy that weighs on me so heavily when it sits unused, myself being used to using so much energy in a day to create my illusions. Many of them do not cooperate easily and I happily provide their incentive to do so: Torture. Oh but of course, some societies may argue that my illusions are 'inhumane' but all the suspect would have to do is close their eyes and not look to avoid it correct? And what I create is not really there, so can it truly be considered torture? None have stopped me yet. Will I be stopped one day? That's to be determined. These days, I need only worry that my illusions are enough to get the suspects talking. I show them the faces of the ones they have killed (or so they believe, I create a general face and they associate it with the necessary victim). I show them the faces of demons and create clatter and crashes with the table and chairs, they can't escape, not if they don't close their eyes. If the suspect is guilty they will give in, start rambling, confessing, and get patted on the back for doing so, perhaps getting a few days off of their sentence. This is my true job really, getting people to confess and do what is better for themselves and for us at the police station. A few of these each day and work is done and Kari and I depart to pick her daughter up from school, just minutes away.
After work, my job becomes that of 'Nanny' or 'Ma-gee' as Maddie calls me. Maddie is Kari's young angelic daughter, only in first grade and is as thin and light as a feather. She rubs my ears and and whispers so many things to me, about the boys who pick on her and the girls she doesn't get along with. I listen and love her endlessly. I show her the kind side of my illusions and fall asleep with no energy left as I use up what I have on making her happy. It's all in a day's work.
{Technically a WIP, the story isn't done, not even close, but the form is as I have run out of time v.v;}
{I apologize if the formatting looks messed up, on my computer it looks fine but on my ipod... not so much, so I'm sorry if it looks all weird for you and it makes it hard to read XP}
So tired ;_; I couldn't even tell you how many times I've edited this as a draft before I submit it and I still don't have nearly as much as I wanted to... I'm out of time though as I have school and won't be home until after she is given away so I'll hope for the best and wish everyone luck!
