There was a sudden shift in color, a transition from earth browns and reds to contrasting teal streaked with whorls of pink, as the vortex again worked itself in to frenzy, signaling the imminent arrival of a new Ahzenai. The occasional flashes of rosy whites seemed to eddy and drift at once faster and against the remainder of the vortex, almost mesmerizing in their distinctiveness. The pink bands paused but for a moment, then swiftly converged to a circular central mass, bright spots of gray gold popping and flickering, until a smooth-stepped Ahzenai glided effortlessly out, the pink colors fading as though he was pulling them from the vortex as he left.

He chuffed once, twice, a sort of throat clearing cough that implied disarming ordinariness, professing that he was but another conventional Ahzenai, and would not be prone to any form of strangeness or peculiarity. Wooing him, then, should seem a simple enough task, his unassuming personality further implied as he seemed to wait for further instruction or direction, with no particular inclinations of his own.

“Levorith,” declared Valcyon, as though there was something to be noted, something memorable, in the name if nothing else.

Before making his way to the humans, all eagerly awaiting his first move, he meandered a bit, circling around his fellow Ahzenai, the picture of innocent curiosity searching for reassurance. Guileless pale gold eyes blinked rapidly, absorbing all he saw with gusto. If his eyes tended to linger on those with finer shapes, more interesting markings, higher quality posture, the most riveting conversation, this too could easily be attributed to curiosity. It was only when Levorith became prone to initiating direct contact with these more appealing Ahzenai that an inkling of truth was shown; his judgment of character and desirability lied predominantly with his own aesthetic sense, and he would have his desires and conclusions be known.

A saucy wink and purr ruthlessly shattered any preconceptions of naivety; here was an Ahzenai who knew what he wanted and was not afraid to go get it. The female he’d been cozying up to snapped, rather offended by his chauvinistic antics, and he backed up with a jaunty hop skip, physically speaking, ‘you’ll be bake for more later, babe, I promise.’

Finally turning away from the congregated Ahzenai, he returned his attention to the humans. Obviously playing innocent was a guise run out of purpose; a different tactic must be here employed. So he strutted, placing one navy blue paw in front of the other in an exaggerated, highly predatory swagger, dark blue tail flicking sharply side to side, head help high and nose lifted at the optimum angle for balancing plates.

He made for the females first, naturally, for they were clean, smelled sweet, and tended towards visually appealing clothing, adorned with trinkets that only further highlighted physical beauty.

“Voulez-vous coucher avec moi?” came a rumbling purr, molten voice dripping with innuendo.

He'd been watching this strange ceremony for quite some time, seeing various "Ahzenai" birth from the Vortex, the head creature,Valcyon would call out their name and the warm of people and animals around the cave would swoon and throw themselves at these creatures as though they came from the gods themselves. That's the way he saw it anyway, these creatures were like gods to people, offering rotting stinking skulls and carrion to them to try and impress one. It made him shudder every time a human skull was passed up through the crowd, sending murmurs of jealousy through the crowd. This time was no different. As the vortex whipped into action the excitement sparked the air, sending excited whispers and bright eyes glueing themselves to the swirling mass.

He came mostly just to see the cave and the creatures themselves. He wasn't quite sure how he ever arrived at the cave, he just wanted to go there...and then he was there. It sure beat being out in the war, sitting in a scorching campsite waiting for the sun to burn away your flesh. They shot at the enemy and the enemy shot at them. Nobody ever died or got shot from either side. It was like they just attacked each other to make sure the other side was still there. So instead he played Poker or found himself in this cave that he wasn't sure really existed. He stood far in the back on a jagged rock face that rose above the chaos. It was perfect view for observing, but terrible for attempting to woo an Ahzenai, which was why it was always empty. Occasionally he thought of attempting to woo one just to see if he could; and the guys back at base would freak out to see him walking back with some crazy lion-dragon hybrid thing. He pulled the lollipop form his mouth with a pluck! and savored the sugary tinge on his tongue. The one thing he loved about being overseas was the candy, some old woman came by every so often and sold these lollipops. The first time he tried one, he licked it and felt himself gasping for air, a wave of pure guilt and sadness washing over him. But after he forced himself to keep sucking on it, it slowly became sweet until it came to the very center and made him feel crazy happy all over. Cursed candy in the beginning, blessed candy by the end.

The Ahzenai emerged from the vortex as he took another lick of the lollipop, still very much in the sobering outer layers. This one was different from any he'd seen, he could tell the second it stepped from the pinkish swirl. Perhaps it was a guy thing, but Lucas instantly sensed that this creature thought himself to be king of the world. Sure enough,as the crowd looked breathlessly at the shiny new creature, he purred loudly and got much too close to a female, who promptly snapped at him. Lucas's eyes narrowed, a boiling dislike already forming in the pit of his stomach. Of course, his smooth antics and effortless sway of his back as he descended upon the crowd opened the floodgates of gushing fans. He slowed in front of the females, obviously intent on receiving their gifts and flatteries. Lucas gritted his teeth and made his way down from the rock. He would show this....this....monster what it meant to act that way. He shoved his way through the crowd, his muscular build and military gear stopped any voices of opposition from forming.

But as he approached the Ahz, he stopped, his lungs still pulsing from his near-run. He'd bitten down on his lollipop, and now it was bleeding happiness into the taste of misery in his mouth. He looked up into the golden eyes of the creature, seeing his reflection in the glassy surface. He thought back to high school, when he'd walked the halls like royalty, dated girls as if they were a fashion statement and thought himself "too cool for school". Then, he remembering being flung to the ground his first day of Basic Training, all sense of popularity leaving as the blood pooled in his mouth. He too had been this way, had felt the same intense confidence that seemed to burst from him. But that was then. Now, he was living in the middle of the desert and getting shot at daily. Now he was eating "Mystery Stew" for breakfast lunch and dinner. Now, he was really living. Now he felt pride that was hard earned, and his confidence was humbled by the fact that bullets do not always miss.

Levorith was the life he left behind. He reached in his pocket, his eyes boring into the creature's golden ones. He pulled out his last lollipop, wrapped in crumpled tissue paper, and placed it on the ground in front of the Ahzenai. If it chose to come with him, there would be no "upper class", there would be equality and sense of worth. He cleared his throat.
"You can't live like this in the outside world." He warned. His voice was bold and brassy, the by-product of the bittersweet juice of the cracked candy that was choking him. He broke his stare, glancing fondly at the lollipop. "If you want true friends, you can come with me. Either way," He paused, flicking his gaze to the Ahzenai's coat. "You're still covered in a sissy color of pink." He smirked playfully, crossing his arms. Perhaps it would have been more dramatic to walk away, but he was going to take back his candy if "Levorith" cast him aside. Maybe even if he decided to come with him.

Levorith

~ The lover boy <3

"Voulez-vous coucher avec moi?"
Vitaloney's head shot up at the words. Her white eyes zoned in on a single Ahzenai, strutting his way towards a cluster of female humans. With a slight groan she rose to all fours. Her interest was perked by this out spoken, "ladies Ahzenai". Valakin, who had been dozing nearby looked up at his sister,
going some were?
he asked dryly, Vitaloney nodded her response and without saying a word moved on. Valakin laid his head back on his paws,
This should be interesting,
He sighed falling back into a light sleep.

Vitaloney moved with practiced grace and seductiveness, with each stride she swung her hips the movement much like that of a jaguar. It was her way of making others look onto her with envy, she was short but gorgeous, and she knew it.

It was not long before she stood in front of him, Up close she found he was cute, but she did not feel any inherit connection to him, with a light purr she curled her body around him, acting as though she was exasperated by his presence.
bringing her snout close to his ear, she purred
"Bonjour, Mon cher jeune ahzenai. Il vous feriez bien d'apprendre, vous n'avez pas un manque de respect une ahzenai femelle."
Her accent was flawless as it left her mouth, His actions had deeply disturbed her and it was all that she could do to hold back from clawing his pelt off. She snapped her jaws so close to his ear the delicate hair there twitched from the impact.
she uncoiled herself from around him and gracefully padded back towards her brother, who was doing his best not to laugh at his sisters reaction.

[center]I watched this odd, royal-acting Ahzenai approach me and the other women here and my mouth dropped a little at his question. "No way." I said, a little disgusted as I translated into French. I walked forward and slapped him smartly across the cheek. "I think that goes for all of us." I smirked, pushing my hair behind my ears and folding my arms. "That attitude will get you nowhere in this world. That's a fact." I said, deciding this Ahzenai was a player, definitely. But still, he had a charm about him that made me want him as my companion.

I could teach him how to be kinder or make his attitude worse. Either way, this Ahzenai was trouble, which I loved. "Well? What do you have to say for youself, hmm?"

He sat in her boudoir while she freshened up... I sang the next words of the song and then frowned slightly. The French words had caught my attention and I turned to see who had spoken them. As I spotted who it was a grin crossed my lips before I laughed. Pushing myself up, I grabbed my bag and swung it over my shoulder. "Lucky Adethea isn't here!" I muttered to myself; she had gone for a little wander in Azhen, to see her home and left me to it. Maybe that was a mistake! I thought, repeating words -along the line- of what she had said before leaving. "Too late now!" I smirked and started walking over to Levorith. Mostly the people around him were female and I noticed that the males seemed to be staring at him with disgust and amusement- an odd mixture.

I ran a hand through my long, red curls as I approached him, waiting for someone to finish their woo before stepping forwards to give mine. "Hey. I'm Ez..." How to go about this? I decided I would flirt just as I would if it was a human boy. "...You're a good singer. There are lots of them in the outside world. But you'd probably beat them all, considering you-" How to say it without insulting him? "-your uniqueness!" I smiled; flattery was an easy way to start. "You have good taste-" My eyes flickered around the suitors and then back to him. "-the song is brilliant." I winked and then shrugged. "Voulez-vous venir avec moi ce soir?" I asked, biting my bottom lip before bobbing a little curtsy and stepping back.

NOTE: Another fake woo, I know that dogs canot win these. Nor can they talk in English... I just read the description and immediately thought of an old favorite character of mine. ^_^ OH my goodness, I managed to keep it shorter =D. Not sure if I am happy with it, though.

They were... an interesting lot, though the dog had never been all that intrigued in humans. This group, though, she found to be strange enough to strike her curiosity. And so she followed. They were all crowding around in this cave area, speaking to each other in whispered voices as they discussed only God knows what. Well, she would know, but in due time. They weren't only humans, which was probably the only reason why she stuck around at all. It was a myriad of different people and creatures. Several, to her chagrin, were big cats. She had never been a fan of the small gangly type that stared out of the human's windows with absolute fear as she passed. But then again, she was a huge dog. And how were these big cats? To be honest, this was the first she had ever seen one, and they were quite a surprise. They were, to be honest, much much bigger than she had ever anticipated. She had always imagined big cats to be about the size of the wolves that she often harassed in her travels. But as she looked out at the other wolves in the cave, she could clearly tell the mongrels had nothing to the size of these cats. Maybe she had just been hanging out with the wrong crowd...

The lean white dog moved silently through the crowd with a long elegant gate. If they were nothing else, Saluki's were elegant and beautiful. They had often been revered as royalty among dogs for their grace, lithe features and their fine flowing hair. And this stark white female was no acception. In fact, she was the rule, the standard of good breeding and excellent care. Which she so often flaunted with no regard to another's feelings. She knew she was effortlessly beautiful and just loved to rub in in all the fae's faces. If they had been watching, if they hadn't been so preoccupied with whatever they were doing that had to be sooo much more important, then they would have seen her doing it even now; Moving like she was weightless, pausing at moments with such an air of beauty and importance that she would have been sure to steal several of the males away. Not the humans, of course. They were just too dumb to spot beauty, even when it was right there before them.

Not that Lust would ever allow a human to follow her anyway. What kind of fun could she have with a two legged? Besides the pleasure of ripping their sad little faces right off? None. Her brown eyes grew a little wider as she caught a glimpse of something she could appreciate, could run away with. A coy smile creased her lips as the large white dog moved slowly over to her next victim, tilting her head a little in a cute manner before sitting behind the-

Her gaze changed again as she heard everyone around her begin to mutter. She looked up at their faces, and then off at the strange portal that she could barely see through their legs. This bothered her, and she soon ditched her newest target for a better look at what was going on. She slinked between the humans easily with her thin frame, moving quickly to the front line of the group and sitting down with a light sigh, a little aggravated that she had given up her new play thing before she even said hello. But they seemed so interested in what was going on now, and that was why she came at all. They were all so intrigued by this one thing, so how could she not be drawn to the secret as well? Lust looked out at the big cat, turning her head a little and smiling once more. A new target? She liked them big, but this brute was just a bit too much. So this had been what they marveled over? Then why the sudden wave of whispers? It took some time for her to look at the churning vortex, as she had found it of little interest before. And then something came out of it, causing another hushed wave of speaking. Over what? This new cat? He was... Well he wasn't anything of consequence at all.

So as the humans all began to watch this waste of her time, the large white canine made her way out of the crowd and toward the vortex. It was so... tempting to leave all these fools behind and just stick her head in there. Would it work the same? Could she go in the same way that... Thing stepped out? Lust pulled up her head again, ears swaying slightly as she heard a sound of disgust ripple through the croud. She tilted her head a little as she listened to the big cat's words, a smile slowly pulling at her maw as he spoke the all too familiar chant.

And then she laughed.

Not the kind of tinkling laughter from an embarrassed little human girl that she expected she would hear very much of very soon. But a sort of cruel humor like a poison mixed into honey. This cat, this borderline feminine male would speak such lines? What made him think he could get any girl with a pelt like that? a soft one, perhaps; one that would not suit his personality at all. Unless, of course, he was the controlling type. Those sweet spineless young girls that could be molded and melted like a pale tasteless butter. But really, one so 'colorful' in actions as he? Settle for such a worthless catch? And yet that would be all he gained with a look like that. And yet she must praise him for his efforts to play her game. If not for the pink markings on his back, he was sure to have been a heart breaker. He had the voice, the attitude, the sly smiles and daring words. All he lacked was a good pelt. Just the blue would be fine, and such a lovely blue it was. It reminded her almost of a calm lake, such a relaxing hue to behold. That was terribly marred by those feminine marks. If he were a female it would have made his fur a wonderful one, but as a male it did not aid him in the least.

Everyone always spoke of markings. Marking this and marking that, but Lust found that sometimes solid colors were so much better. Like for her. What was more beautiful or tempting than a clean shining white fae? But hey, maybe she was biased. Nah. She felt a little... Pity for the cat. His efforts were well, if only he didn't have those awful marks on his back. She could not see him getting very far into this game at all. Unless it were all a rouse? Hmm, maybe so. She walked calmly toward him, a slight smile causing one of the more skittish of humans to back away. She was a large dog, after all, and could still deal a mighty blow through that flawless white frame. That detail she often made apparent to the various jealous female wolves. And compared to a wolf, a human was of no consequence.

Lust circled the big cat several times, her head high as she looked him over with analytical eyes. He was not so bad up close, at least not so bad for an animal her size. She was big for a dog, but small compared to him. Which was really saying something for his size, since she was 28 inches to the shoulder. And that was no small number for a dog. In fact, less of his markings were visible to her eye, which made him all the more pleasing to look at. She felt compelled to try this out, to return his words with some of her own. To claim this beast and leave with him. But... But those like herself never got along. Sure, it was easy at first, since they
Image
both wanted the same thing. But creatures of her character also had another want in common: Control. And there was no way Lust was ever going to hand over something so important to her as control of a situation, control of anything.

"Go for shorter." She said, with more of an annoyed teacher's tone than the alluring voice she usually carried. "No respectable girl of your... persuasion is going to take you seriously with those markings, so you'll have a bit of a time proving yourself. I would consider a deeper voice, if I were you, to offset that girlish attire." The dog responded, using her paw to point them out. "And always give them a false sense of being in charge, when all the while it is you holding the cards. Good luck." She said with a flick of her long white tail before heading back for the entrance. There was nothing for her here...

I think I'll take a shot at this, simply because he seems interesting, in a perverted way, and because I am immensely bored. I miss writing.

Rutoriel watched as the vortex swirled, the colors dancing brilliantly before her eyes. It had been a long time since she had seen pink swirling within that large mass, and she felt a slight sens of excitement stirring within her. She glanced to her right, gazing at her companion. A boy, no older than 16 now, stared sightlessly at the vortex. Despite his clear, intelligent eyes, Rutoriel knew that he only saw what he could imagine. For her companion was completely and utterly blind to the world.

She sighed and shook her pelt out, snow falling from her shoulders. They had just returned from Russia, Rutoriel having picked up a slight Russian accent, much to Wolf's amusement. Her eyes grew soft at the memories. Ever since they had become one, they had traveled far and wide among the world. Just as Wolf had promised, he had taken her to the mysterious cave as well. it had been beautiful and she had decided that in that place, she was at peace.

She shook her head, pushing the thoughts aside as the vortex slowly died down and an Ahzenai gracefully stepped into Ahzen. His fur was the deepest of teal, a color that deeply reminded her of the ocean they had once seen in Africa. It had been both beautiful, and breath taking. On his back, a golden mass swirled, seeming brighter than anything she had ever seen before. She noted the pink swirls on his back, seeming to shift and blend with the light as he carefully walked through Ahzen. It wasn't until she began to notice a pattern of his movements before her face soured.

Even as she began to think it, she watched as the Ahzenai flirted with the other females, causing one to even snap at him. She snorted with contempt and turned to look away, when a soft hand on her shoulder stopped her. She turned and stared at her companion in surprise. "Let's watch first... I want to see." Wolf whispered, his voice quiet, and amused. Rutoriel looked at him for a few minute's before reluctantly turning back towards the Ahzenai, just in time to hear him phrase a question to all the female humans.

She frowned, confused. "What did he say..?" She wondered out loud. Beside her, Wolf choked. She turned to him, concerned, only to find him trying to hold back a bought of laughter. "What's so funny?" She demanded, eyes flaring angrily. Wolf smiled, hiccuping slightly. "He asked... If any would like to sleep with him.... in French..." He snorted. Rutoriel's face began to turn a deep, beat red and her fur fluffed on end. Sensing her response, Wolf burst into hysterical laughter. "It's not funny!" Rutoriel growled, her face getting even redder. Wolf chuckled, trying to ease his laughter. "But my dear... it is." He chuckled, glancing fondly at her. Rutoriel's whole pelt bristled and she stomped away, glaring furiously at the ground.

For one such as herself, the very question the Ahzenai had asked and the way Wolf had acted rubbed her fur the wrong way. She growled and grumbled beneath her breath, mumbling obscenities in any foreign language she knew. Unfortunetly, French was not one of them. It was only until too late did she see the teal paws of the new Ahzenai, right before she crashed into him.

She leaped away, eyes wide with shock and horror at finding herself in such an awkward position. "Oh God! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to-" then she stopped, seeing who it was. And her anger flared brilliantly once more. "Oh wait." She snapped. "Never mind." She turned to go, only to find Wolf beside her. She stared incredulously at him as he looked kindly down at the new Ahzenai.
"Mon ami, pourriez-vous faire le voyage avec nous?"

He asked, speaking with a fluent french accent. Rutoriel glared at him, knowing that he had spoken in French on purpose. He glanced at her and winked slowly. She turned away, huffing angrily, only to glance back at the Ahzenai to see his response. When none came quick enough for Rutoriel's short anger, she growled at him. "Don't bother Wolf! Leave the pervert on his own..." She huffed. Wolf sighed and gently rubbed down the fur on her back. "Forgive my companion for her fiery temper. She's just not used to one such as yourself, Levorith." He said.

Rutoriel harrumphed. She glared defiantly at the Ahzenai, her shoulders straight and her face proud. She bared her chest, giving him a glimpse of the soft fur that lurked beneath her chin. "Oh I'm used to it alright..." She snarled. Her tail was held straight in the air, the tip bristling with fine hairs. Wolf sighed, rubbing his temples. "My name is Wolf. This is my companion, Rutoriel. I can't help but be interested in you, Levorith. I do hope you join us when we take our leave from Ahzen. I was planning on visiting France next so that Rutoriel can learn some proper french. It would be a great help if you could come along. If not, then I hope you find whatever home you choose comforting." Wolf said, making a small, curt bow to Levorith. Rutoriel watched as he left, leaving her behind to say her goodbyes. Her eyes widened in disbelief though, when she realized that she was mistaken with her former thought.

Even as she realized it, Wolf turned and gave her a small wink. Fury raced through her as he waved coyly and walked away, whistling Dixie. Rutoriel burned a hole into his back for a few moments longer before turning to Levorith. "Don't think, just because Wolf accepts you, that I will. Let me just get one thing straight and clear through that thick head of yours. I don't tolerate sexual perverts any where and nor will I make you an exception." She sniffed, holding her head high. "But if you dare to come along with us, then I suggest you learn how to keep your thoughts to yourself, and fast. Or else something other than your voice will be taken away." She snarled. With that, Rutoriel turned gracefully and walked after Wolf.

It would of been perfect. Had that small rock not gotten in her way. She went sprawling into the dust, tangling onto the floor of Ahzen. Embarrassment and fury raced through her, resulting in liquid hot tears running down her cheeks. She lay there for a few moments, before rising to her feet, and running. She ran past the river and past the bridge, choosing to hide beneath it instead, on a small outcropping of land that was not covered by the small river. There, she sat and began to cry through angry eyes, staring down at the water. Her pelt, now dusted with dirt and a few speckles of blood, shown clearly through the slow moving river. This only made her cry harder. Her pride... Her dignity... Ruined. She could clearly hear Wolf calling for her, but she ignored him, deciding to shed a few tears over her wounded pride instead. Slowly, she began to clean the scrapes and cuts on her legs and face, wincing as each one stung with new pain as the cold river water touched it.
