Name: Neerah Kanika Reth
Species: Lion
Personality: Neerah has a disability. Because of it she has hidden her true personality inside. Outside is a strong lioness with a cold heart. Many find her hard to be around but that is not her true self. She really is a sweet warm hearted lion. She loves everybody she meets and never killed anything. She can’t bring herself to do so. But she acts like she has, as a life style.
Likes: Zeke her son, grassy plains, Her pet mouse and Zazas her mate.
Dislikes: Murder, her pride mates and fire.
Background: Neerah yawned as she laid beside a white lion with cream wings and ice blue eyes. She stretched her paws out extending her claws while she curled her tail. The day was beginning.
The sun rose on pride rock shining into their cave waking them up gently. Since Simba’s time Pride rock has changed. His descendant, Zazas, gained control and he slowly turned it back into what pride rock had before. Zazas’s father found Neerah as a cub and gave her the nickname “Reth.” As Zazas now calls her. Her middle name Kanika came from her foster mother.
Neerah walked out of the cave tickling her mate’s nose with the tip of her tail as she walked out. He opened his eyes and watched her leave, letting his ivory wings fall into the missing spot. She sat at the tip of the rock and looked over the pride lands. It earned its name from the grassy plains and the raging river leading into a peaceful lake. “Shall we go to the lake?” She asked looking over her shoulder at her mate and cub that lay beside him. “All right.” He said with a smile as he stood up. He picked up Zeke by the scruff and walked over to her. She smiled nuzzling against his soft white mane feeling his warm and comfort surrounds her. But as she stepped back he slowly melted away in the wind with Zeke. The soft breeze disappeared and the river started to rage as the sky turned black. “No come back!” She shouted chasing after the fading image of her mate and cub. The sky thundered as she jumped after the wispy image of her mate. She started to fall into the black abyss beneath her.
Neerah jumped up in her rocky bed, fur stained with sweat. Her pride mates laid around her on lower rocks. A male beside her awoke and looked at her. “Something wrong?” He barely got out before she swiped at his face. “Quiet!” She roared. He quickly put his head down submissively quivering on his pedestal. Neerah didn’t show It but inside she felt sorry for him, but it didn’t stop her from grabbing his neck with her powerful jaws. She flung him down the rocks and jumped down after him. She passed by his tattered body laying awkwardly on some rocks trying to stand back up. She growled and pinned her ears as she walked out of the cave, a geyser of hot steam going off behind her as she walked awaking the other pride members. This was no pride land, the ground was dry and cracked, the trees strained for life and water was rare. This land was cursed and she had a pride to take care of on it. Once she left the shocked pride mates behind far enough she let out a sigh and lifted her head showing her nicer side. She stretched one paw out and let a mouse crawl up onto her shoulders burying in-between. She smiled at the young mouse’s obliviousness and kept walking. There was no food for miles but there was another pride, a den of hyenas that multiplied quickly and became cannibals of themselves. This was her pride’s only source of food. She hated the thought and often didn’t come along but recently a male decided he wanted to prove who she really was so she had to go. She had to keep up the image. But the pain in her heart brings her eyes to tears. She sighed and laid down in the shade of a fallen tree thinking about how to attack the hyenas. Minutes turned to hours and still she sat there thinking, by high noon she had come up with a plan. She gently shooed the mouse away licking it friendly on the cheek as it left as she walked back to her pride. It was still high noon as she arrived at the cave and easily scaled the rocks to her place. All the pride members stopped what they were doing and looked at her deathly silent. “We are attacking now, when they are resting from what little they did.” She boomed in a commanding voice. She clutched the rock in front of her showing her long black claws and muscular paw and let out a roar as terrifying as she could. The others stayed silent till she finished then made their own barrage of roars and growls. Till Neerah jumped off her rock and ran out the cave, the others funneling out the entrance following her. She charged across the dusty plains towards a much smaller cave. A single hyena stood outside looking at the cloud of dust forming on the horizon. He cocked his head and leaned in closer till he finally realized what formed it. He yelped and ran inside in a panic. He slid to stop and threw his head back unleashing a loud howl warning every member. Neerah roared as a warning as they got close. She lunched herself onto the messenger hyena getting the first kill and letting the others run past her and start fighting. Before the hyena died Neerah whispered into its ear. “I’m so sorry.” She said with a single tear. The hyena didn’t seem to sympathetic as it slowly let its body go watching the blood from its neck flow down in front of his face. She sighed and stood up chasing after others. Once half the pride killed one hyena each she called for a retreat grabbing the meat to bring along with them. They all dragged their meals to their home and chowed down there. But she sat at her top rock watching everybody else. They all offered her some but she only took a portion barley big enough for a cub. She gagged on the meat but got it down her throat with a feeling of disgust wash over her. She laid her head on her red paws and watched her pride feed their hungry stomachs. The cubs fought with each other over some meat and some ladies chewed on the bones. For now, they were happy. And that’s all that mattered to her.
Zeke and his father weighed heavy on her mind but for now all was safe and everybody was fed. She kept repeating it to herself. It made her feel like she actually fixed her wrong doings. When everybody had finished and had fallen asleep she snuck out of the cave. She traveled to her mouse partner and for every single skeleton from a hyena in that cave had been counted and each one got a grave on the other side of the log among many others. She prayed a prayer for each one apologizing for the sacrifice then thanking for the meal. It was almost morning by the time she was done. Slowly she treaded back to the cave drenched in sweat and her arms aching. At this point her limp in her front leg was easily noticeable. It looked as if she was walking on glass. She stayed outside the cave till she had the strength to sneak back to her bed and fall asleep. By that time the sun had risen, but she slept through it. Though the day she had slept and nobody dared disturbed her. The cubs played outside and the adults took turns watching to make sure she was ok. “I hate this, she does nothing for this pride.” A male said as he walked into his shift. Had said it a bit too loudly and had woken her up. She stood up and jumped down right in front of him making him jump out of his skin. “Don’t like it? Then leave. Because I do everything for this pride.” She growled circling around him. “If you did everything you could we would live in the pride lands like we used to.” He shouted showing his teeth. By this time a crowd had gathered around the mouth of the cave as the two lions circled each other. “You know why we had to leave the pride lands. And you also know who caused it!” She roared pouching at him easily pushing him over even in her weak state. “You caused it! You caused this pride to come here. And I Still let you stay with us. Feed you, provide shelter and I Do the best that I can!” She roared grabbing his throat easily with her powerful jaws and lifting him up. She threw him across the room and let him roll into a rock. He strained himself to get up but as he did another lion pounced on him. Soon the whole prides including a few cubs were on him chasing him away from their home. Leaving him to die in the dessert one way or another. The whole pride was exiling the young male so she had the cave to herself. She climbed to her rock and sat down. Her face dropped and she began crying. That male was the one who killed Zazas and Zeke letting other lions chase them out. She was still young by the time she had a pride to care for and the pressure drove her up the wall. She never spent long crying. She dried her tears and got the stern look on her face before the others came back. She laid her head down once they returned and fell back asleep. Meeting Zazas in her dreams kept her sanity, waking up was ruining it.
A picture you drew: I know it looks like crap. I tried! I really did!
