Winter wolf Society~+❦ Like their closest cousins, the gray wolves, Winter wolves live in packs with high levels of social orders. Their ranks usually consist of, (in order of dominance): Alphas, Heirs, Deputy, Elders, Generals, Warriors, Scouts, Queens, Pups,
Unfortunately, females are not allowed to be deputy, or warriors. They can only be scouts, alpha females, or queens when they mature.
❦ First elders, queens, heirs and pups eat. Then the alphas and deputy. Then the, generals, warriors and scouts.
❦ After a pup reaches 4 months, they must help care for the queens and elders. Heirs, sons and daughters of the alphas on the other hand, only participate in leadership, hunting and battle training. Pups are usually trained by warriors and scouts, while heirs are trained by generals.
❦ The sire and dam of a litter have the right to kill off the weakest pup.
❦ Alphas, deputies and generals are the only ranks who are permitted to have a mate. All females have breeding rights, only the top males have breeding rights, and males can have multiple mates. Males who don't have breeding rights are permitted to find a mate outside the pack. But it must strictly be for reproduction purposes, and they will not be permitted to tend to their mate when she's cubbed.
❦ Winter wolves originally feasted mainly on the heavy drafts which had inhabited Mount Corona. But when White Blaze's herd left they soon began to prey on the smaller animals on the mountain, larger prey being scarce and hard to take down.
Father~+ Troy {Alpha male, previous Beta male}-Deceased-
Mother~+ Thara {Rogue, previous Beta female}-Location Unknown-
Siblings~+ Liken{♂} and Kento{♂} {Adopted siblings; of no blood relation}
History~+From what is known Kalik was not born to the alpha male and female of his pack. He was born to a rogue named Thara. Her mate was Troy, the Winter Wolf Pack deputy. Many looked on at the couple in disgust, and there was much crude dispatch when news burst that the two were expecting to have a litter. When the time came the only pup born to the circumvent dam and sire was a single sickly cub. By Winter Wolf law they were permitted to slaughter the firstborn of their litter, but Thara was unwilling to witness the murder of her newborn. The sire agreed to the terms, but not long after he began to regret his decision. A beautiful fae named Aphrodite was hopelessly in love with Troy, and resented Thara for having been able to capture the males heart despite her position as a rogue.
Seeking revenge on Thara for taking away what was 'rightfully hers' she conceived a delusive animus to separate the two. She slowly but surely convinced Troy that his mate wasn't fit to be the deputy's mate, seducing him with her feminine charm. Troy soon had poor Thara kicked out of the pack, and took Aphrodite in as his official mate. Thankfully for Thara Troy still held some emotion for her, and so kept their sole pup. Although, he refused to let it take on his position as deputy. Instead, he mated with Aphrodite, hoping to produce a stronger generation for him to select from. Too young to fully grasp the concept of his mothers disappearance Kalik expected her to come back soon. But with a neglectful father and banished mother he soon found himself to be in the staggering position of both parents being inattentive, and as a result he was forced to nurture his own independence.
Soon enough the pups of Troy and Aphrodite were conveyed. The whole pack was overjoyed with the new arrivals, all except the elders. They saw the disgrace in Troy taking in a new mate, and they pitied poor Kalik. But, Kalik being strong as he was welcomed his newborn brothers just as warmly as his sire did. In fact, he was possibly even more excited about them than his kin. His two siblings were named Kento and Liken. Both were strong, thick legged cubs. Kalik bathed his blood brothers in licks, only to be pushed away from time to time by Aphrodite. While Troy looked on in pride at Kalik's kind gestures of ardour Aphrodite looked on in arrogance. She wanted Kalik dead, so her sons would be the sole heirs. She feared the pack may argue that since he was Troy's first born he still kept the birth right.
As time passed the boys spent more and more time together until they were finally inseparable. Particularly Kalik and Liken, the first born. They fought together and taught each other battling techniques. Liken grew to be headstrong and dense minded, while Kento attained an heir of pacific acuity.
My mind whirled as I glanced wildly around the room,
eyes wide with shock and fear. It was only a matter of time before I encountered the product of my tormentors persistent efforts to avenge their past experiences by ridding themselves of their present affairs.
The abrupt sound of a painful howl in the distance awoke me from my thoughts as I struggled to find an exit. As the speech of my irritations neared I began to feel frantic and headstrong, and out of my desperation I saw no option but the most critical.
Light streamed into the room, proving I had no chance of clinging to crumbs of shadow for protection. Pricking my ears I clambered onto the edge of one of the window sills, snorting when I saw the drop down. But as the voices grew nearer I knew I had run out of discretion, and with a bristle I leaped from the heights. I outstretched my forepaws and narrowed my eyes as I whipped through the air, plummeting towards the earth. Managing to gain my balance I landed on all fours, which was to my complete satisfaction. Though I had little time to steady my landing before armed gun men burst from the tents close by, their weapons raised. I snarled, raking my gaze across the lot. “Pathetic runts.” I growled. My muscles rippled under my smooth pelt as I flattened my ears, readying myself. It was a few moments before I managed to burst into gear.
I all most smirked when I saw their astonished expressions as I rushed towards the wooden fencing that bordered the human dens, managing to evade their gunfire. Lifting my head, without hesitation I bounded over the oaken fence. A chuckle escaped my grin as I glanced back, their yowls of surprise echoing behind me as I raced into the wood, slipping into the underbrush.
I was finally free.
