The Altar bustled with unusual activity, no bugles rang, yet the area was packed to the brim with visitors. There were rumors these days, rumors of a very rare and special guest visiting the halls. Interests piqued and excited, creatures of all sizes came to check the famous tourist spot of Vinara daily, hoping to catch a glimpse of the rare guest.
Some even said it would be a mage.
The rumors spread like wildfire, it wasn't soon until every camping visitor from beyond Vinara's boundaries started camping out by the Altar's premises. A magical appearance, that's all they were waiting for. Mages rarely grace the Altar with their presence-in fact, this might be the first Faerre mage to step on the Altar ever since Vinara was reintroduced to the outside word-that is, if this Faerre
is a mage.
It was said that a long, long time ago, all Faerres possessed infinite amount of magic, but due to neglect and the separation from the care of humans, magical potential within these creatures dimmed, until only a handful of true-blooded mages were left. Now, only occasionally will a Faerre be born with magical abilities and even so, Faerre magic was not as impressive and 'unlimited' as the old times. The only exception was the Queen herself, who seem to be as powerful as the Faerres of old times-if not even more. Faerre mages are incredibly needed and valued in Vinara, they are loyal to their jobs and rarely do they leave the magical boundaries of the 'disappearing' kingdom, which makes this meeting very, very important.
Night time fell, only the crackling of campfires and the soft hoots of unknown animals were heard. Eyes would drop then raise, glancing at the Altar again, it was always under scrutiny, not one wanted to miss the chance to see the long awaited, wanted, magical creature. Suddenly, a flash of white appeared and there was a startled gasp before chaos erupted. Different creatures, young and old, big and small began scrambling to get a closer view until a clear voice calmed the area.
"Be still visitors to the Altar." The Queen had made her entrance. Stunning blue eyes stared and calmed the excited crowd as she walked gracefully to center stage. "I thank you for your patience, finally your efforts will be repaid. But before our special guest appears, I must caution all not to let your excitement to get ahead of you, do not ruin the experience with something you'll regret." With that the beautiful two-tailed Faerre dipped her head, and the Altar sunk into darkness.
Surprised gasps and horror echoed around the area as all light sources seem to flicker out collectively.
Magic... Someone whispered as the prickle of tension in utter darkness began to unnerve the audience. Then all too soon the darkness ended, flames flared to life and light returned, shining two times brighter than before. The Queen was gone and in her place was a beautiful blue Faerre with exotic dark hues painted in her fur, an orb of bright light floating casually beside her.
IT'S A MAGE! someone squealed and everyone began crowding below the Altar, pushing and shoving to get a closer view. The Faerre on stage seemed unfazed by the commotion and calmly waited for the audience to settle down before speaking in a loud and clear voice. "Greetings creatures beyond the boundaries of my beloved country, I'm known as
Aquelia, a Faerre mage of Vinara. Though painted blue and midnight colors my affinity lies with the
light. I possess the magical skills of a
light mage." Clever and wise eyes roved over the creatures gathered in bunches before her. "I will be the first Faerre mage to leave Vinara, yet know this, that my home will always lie in my birthplace. I chose to leave but I will not abandon. Tell me creatures, why do you want my company?" the Faerre stepped forward, her little orb of light following slowly behind her. "For my magic? For benefits? For knowledge? Because mages are rare? I wish to find the truth in my existence, my life was determined ever since it was found that I had magic within me. Is that it though?" The faerre stepped to the edge of the stage, her paws clinging onto the sides as she sweep her gaze across the area. Then suddenly, the lights went out and everything sunk into darkness.
"Come meet me if you know the truth." were
Aquelia last words before leaving the premises and the audience in complete darkness.
Aquelia will be judged after I come back from my trip xD, November 19th, 2012, HK time
