How will you "propose"?
Merus, the hansom white dragon, his scales as white as snow and his belly was a deep purple colour, his eyes a lovely gentle pink and his mane matched it nicely. His eyes a beautiful light pink colour like that of a radiant flower petal. He paced back and forth quietly, seemly nervous. What was on his mind? Why the lovely pink dragon who went by the name of Rose. Her beautiful scales like that of falling cherry blossoms in the spring. Her belly scales changed from red to white like the beautiful morning sky transforming into the moonlit night. Rose’s mane was as soft as velvet; and as fiery red as her belly was sometimes. Her eyes so kind and gentle, they were a dazzle, stunning garnet red. They were striking at first glance. Her voice, oh her voice, the warmth unmatched, it made his heart melt just to hear her speak. His voice was calm, but it wasn’t sweet like hers. How could he tell her he wanted to marry her? Would she even like him? Would she reject on sight? What if one of the others dragons already asked her.
Fear crept into his mind, no she would have told him. Merus calmed a bit. It wasn’t like he could just waltz up and say, “Hey Rose would you like to marry me?” No it wasn’t that easy. Every time he even got close to her his voice got caught in his throat. His words stuttered as he stammered to even say hello. What if he asked like this, “Rose my love, won’t you be mine?”… No that wouldn’t work either. “Rose my dearest could you ever take me to love?” No that wasn’t it. What else could he say? What could he try? With words that wouldn’t stammer out. He sighed was there hope for him?
“Merus?” A soft voice asked softly, Merus froze, his heart leaping, he turned and faced the most beautiful dragon he’s ever seen. It was Rose. Rose smiled softly, “Hello” She said softly, her voice like a thousand warms suns melting his heart and causing his throat to dry, “R-R-Rose” he stammered out, “H-Hi” he said trying to stop stuttering but he was at a lose for words. Rose chuckled softly, “How are you?” she asked curiously, she could have sworn he was talking to himself earlier but he was very nice so she didn’t mind. “O-Oh I’m o-okay” Merus said, he tried to muster up the courage, “R-Rose?” He asked her curiously. “Yes?” Rose asked blinking her stunning red eyes and looking at him. Merus was lost in her eyes unable to say anything, “H-how are you?” He asked unable to say it.
Rose smiled a bit, “I’m fine” She said, Merus nodded his head. The two dragons, one white and one pink sat together merely staring towards each other lost in their pools of pink and red which was their eyes. Words of the past lost as they gazed into the souls of each other. They seemed to tell each other I love you, no words needed as Rose brushed against him gently. He smiled for the first time he calmed down and nuzzled her gently, “R-Rose” He said, “Yes Merus?” Rose asked curiously, “Would you marry me?” He asked, Rose smiled brightly, “Of course!” She said licking him softly, Merus smiled happily, she had said yes! His heart skipped a beat, She said yes! YES! Not no! Yes! Merus never felt so happy in his life, the love he felt unmatched by anything. “I love you” Rose said softly, “I love you too” Merus said the stutter in his voice vanished as he gaze into her eyes so certain now that she loved him, he feared no rejection, he didn’t fear her saying no. With nothing to fear he felt strong for once.
Hope filled his heart as he whispered sweet words to her in the light of the moon, with the stars guarding their vows of love and eternal joy. Together they fell in love that night. They sat on the hill top, with his tail wrapped around hers gently, blushing under the moon light, lost in the dreams of love, their eyes shining as bright as stars. Together they lived with each other by their sides, with perhaps a family in mind. But that was that was written in this story of how Merus finally confessed to his love. That story passed on. And so may this…
“Love can only be held back by yourself, if you don’t leap forward and tell her how you feel it may be to late. Never wait when you feel ready now. Never lose hope. And always tell her I love you” – Merus.
