I would like to adopt a Second Chance puppy! What kennel is the pup in?: 3
What would you name it?: Blood Of The Rose, Bethany or Beth for short (or if we must keep the original name, Jaded)
What would its gender be?: Female
Why do you want it?:I would use her to further my art skills by practicing her design and drawing her/coloring in art for her, and stretching my writing skills by trying to develop her into a very complex and unique character from all of my others. And simply because she's a gorgeous character and I've never seen another quite like her.
History/background/other:Blood Of The Rose was born during a winter tempest, and as she came into the world, her mother went out. Her father was so devestated by the loss of his beautiful mate that he went mad without her and completely ignored his newborn daughter, disappearing into the snowstorm and never returning for her. Bethany probably would have perished if not for a young wolf named Robin who happened to be stumbling through the storm looking for the human town that had been harboring her and her mate, Soot. She stumbled upon the child crying inside a small snowbank and dug her out. Stunned by the child's beauty and how young she was, Robin decided to adopt her as her own and named her, "Blood Of The Rose" as when she lifted the pup, she saw a pile of crushed rose petals beneath her, their deep hue reminding her of blood and battle. She returned home proudly bearing the early Christmas present to her mate, who wasn't so sure about adopting a child so early into their matehood, he wanted some of his own. But Robin used her charming personality to persuade him that it would be especially horrible to toss the child out or give her away so close to Christmas, and it was so that Bethany stayed, harbored by the humans and cherished throughout the holidays. As she grew, Bethany learned how odd it was that the wolves were being treated so kindly by humans, and she was smart enough to realize that the wolves she lived with weren't actually her parents. Their scents and colorings were too different! She was curious and wanted answers, so after Christmas had passed, she whole-heartedly thanked the two of them for keeping her safe and loved, and then -- amid fanfare and tears -- went off into the world to find out who she was and how she had gotten to be where she was.
She traveled up into the mountains, her thick fur keeping her warm through the snowstorms and feirce winds that froze icicles into her white fur and made her shimmer like an angel. Several times she thought of turning back and returning to the easy, safe life she had been gifted, but her extreme determination forced her onward. Soon she had reached the peak of the mountain and met the pack that she had been born into. They recognized her at once and led her to her mother's grave, where a bundle of dying roses lay atop the snow. Bethany was heart-broken that she would never meet her mother, although they assured her that the female had loved her onto her very last breath, and hadn't minded a bit about dying to bring her firstborn into the world. She asked them what had happened of her father, and they all shared a glance, but refused to tell her. Bethany was again heart-broken that they could show her the final resting place of her mother, but couldn't tell her a shred of truth about what happened to her father. Finally, a rogue slinking about told her a story of a male who had, out of sorrow and lost love, dove off of the side of the mountain to his death, but first left behind a necklace with a beautiful shred of crystal hanging off of it, like a teardrop. The rogue told her the male had told him that it was his dead mate's, and that if the rogue ever stumbled upon his child, he was to give it to her. Bethany accepted the necklace and immediately slipped it over her neck so the teardrop hung next to her heart, beating against it as she trotted away, tears freezing in her eyes. This wasn't fair! And she was the cruelest one of all -- she had abandoned the two who had treated her as their own, had given up their youth to take care of her and help her grow, in order to find the father who hadn't cared for her enough to live, the mother who would never caress her furry mane or kiss the tip of her nose like Robin did from the very first day. She struggled her way back down the mountain to find them.
She returned to the human town, which looked much bleaker now that the holidays were over, much simpler without its fanfare and decorations. To her deep sorrow, Robin and Soot had disappeared, had returned to the wild, but had left her a note. They urged her to return to the forest, where wolves like her belonged, to live out her life in freedom, and hopefully one day stumble upon them. They left only a single direction -- north -- but Bethany immediately set out on her journey to find them by next Christmas. Now she lives in the forest, helping those she comes by because she is too gentle-hearted to turn them down, and struggling through peril to find the only parents that she's ever known.
