Species of Character: Imaginary Friend (
Ragal's)
History/Background: It was a sleepy fall day when Ragal was bumbling through the wet leaves. Droplets rolled off his thick fur and generally stayed off his armor. The three-month-old pup was a bit cold, though, and found himself craving shelter. Digging seemed too much work, even if the mud was so soft it squished between his paws. He continued walking for a bit longer before finding he was tired as well. Looking around, there was little cover to take. A drizzle had began falling from the light gray clouds. It fell onto light green leaves of the forest before rolling off, landing on the ground or perhaps another plant. Occasionally they would land on him. He found a hollow in a tree. It certainly wasn't the first choice of somewhere to stay, but he didn't want to grow sick. He sniffed the air of the entrance and found only the scent of rain filled his nostrils. Giving a curt nod to approve, he crept in. It was cramped and dark, but he didn't have any time to be picky. He found a place the wind didn't carry any water and plopped down. His weary eyes finally snapped shut.
In a dream, Ragal was feeling quite a bit better. He had stumbled upon a dreamy looking meal of squirrels, birds and many other meats. His mouth watered as he walked up and plucked a rabbit off the ground. It took him only about a second to rip into tasty treat. Just as he swallowed that first bite, the bushes behind him began rumbling. Head cocked, his ears pricked in an effort to identify this strange sound. Such a young boy didn't know where it was coming from. That was when something land atop him, slamming into his frail body and driving him into the ground. He tried to look back, but it was to no avail. His breathing was heavy as he struggled. The breath of this attacker was right on his neck and seeming to come closer every moment. He could feel his heart beating faster than he'd ever experienced before. This throbbing echoed through his entire body. That was when a loud bark sounded. He was knocked over, but he realized the pressure was off his back. The tiny critter scrambled up and wildly looked around. Two wolves were now fighting. One of them had some sort of cape on while the other had something tied to his tail. He closed his eyes out of fear. Just moments passed before he was poked in the side. A light brown male was sitting next to him when he finally drew his eyelids up. "Pup, are you okay?" the older wolf asked. Ragal just cocked his head. Who was this stranger? Had he been the one to save him, or the one to begin the assault? "Come on, young one, I'm going to take you back to my home." he stated after receiving no response. The brute gently placed his teeth on the scruff of Ragal's neck and lifted him above the ground, starting off a hopefully short journey. Ragal just stared at his partially-eaten rabbit in defeat.
Thankfully, the walk to the other's home was short. They reached a tent decorated in many different symbols, all relating to the night sky. On the ground inside was a soft rug. The pup was placed gingerly on a round pillow shaped like a moon. "So, what's your name?" the male asked as he walked over to an area with many jars. "R-Ragal." he replied, staring down for a moment before looking at him. Some sort of purple fabric concealed his front legs and his cape was enchanting. The light blue had stars that shimmered right off the clothing. There was a sleepy looking moon up towards the top and a normal cresent one in the corner. An eclipse was also floating around. Beside it was something that appeared to be half moon, half sun. It was pretty obvious this guy liked night. "I'm Mori." he introduced himself. His fluffy tail had something on it as he returned. Ragal figured he must have been too caught up in his ecentric outfit to notice the movement. "W-well, it's very nice to m-meet you, Mr. Mori." he replied. Mori chuckled as he stretched his tail to rub on the young one's back. "No need to call me Mr. or sir. Just Mori. I may be seven years old, but I'm not an elder yet. I'm just in my prime! I'm a wizard and the best one in this kingdom. Now, stay still, this might be a bit cold." he warned. The goob was indeed pretty icy.
That was when his eyes snapped open and he realized he was still in his shelter. Some sort of disgusting-textured thing was sitting on his back. He shook and it spread across the tree. It reeked. The rabbit he had in his dream was coming to haunt him, as he was acutely aware of his hunger. Food was the next goal. Peering out the front of the tree, he was relieved to find no more rain falling from the sky. He padded out, his tail slowly waving, when he heard a voice. "Hello sir Ragal." someone greeted him. Jumping, he looked around with wide eyes. "Sorry to scare you." they said. Mori walked before him and sat down. His entire body shone like a giant star, and his cape was incredibly shiny. "M-Mori!" the pup cried, happy to see a familiar face. Mori chuckled. "Come, we must find something to eat. You're hungry." he stated. Ragal nodded and began trotting after his older friend. It wasn't too hard to keep up since Mori was just walking. After a bit of walking, they halted. The wizard slunk forward slightly, peering through the brush. He pointed forward with his curly tail. "See that bird? It's got an injured wing. An easy catch, and you're putting the poor thing out of it's pain." he explained quietly. Ragal nodded and slowly stalked forward. He did his best to keep his fluffy tail from poking out of the grass. His body was small and easy to conceal. Reaching the creature, he pounced and easily caught it. He returned and offered to share with Mori, but his offer was refused. "No, I don't need any food. I'm rather low matienence." he replied with a small smile. Ragal nodded and began eating, lying on the ground beneath some tall grass. Mori stood watch of him.
As they headed out, Mori proclaimed that he would begin travelling with Ragal. The puppy eagerly accepted and they soon headed out, Mori leaving his side for only short periods of time.
