She would be a perfect addition to my herd! All in all i fell in love with her design!
History/Background/Other:History;;Haley was born a weak and fragile filly, always stuck at the back of the herd or the last in line when it came to grazing. She was a struggling little mare for most of her life, but because of that she always put in just a little more effort and soul into everything she did. She was always striving for the number one spot, always trying to be the best and she'd never back down from a challenge. Haley was definitely a rambunctious little mare, always getting into some kind of trouble but stopping to help those in need. As she grew older, she also grew stronger and faster; before long she was the one that the herd looked up to. The strong, fearless mare that could take on any challenge and see it through regardless of how impossible it may have seemed at the time. That's who Haley's Comet was, the miracle of life. The energy of youth. The one who could kick logic to the curb and make the impossible possible.
Personality;;Due to her years as a frail little mare, Haley has become a strong, confident mare who knows her limitations. She's fearless, and always up to taking on a challenge regardless of it's difficulty. She tries her best to be a role model for the younger foals in the herd, to show them that body size and speed aren't the only things that make up a good horse, that a true horse needs just as much soul. She lives up to her name, coming in strong and fast and leaving nothing but awe in her wake.
Story;;The birds had been chirping quite loudly throughout the plains that morning as Haley opened her eyes. The sun was shining brightly and the mare couldn't help but love the sunshine warming up her black coat thoroughly. She shook her head a bit, letting out a small snort to help wake herself up a little more before stretching lazily. She looked around at the rest of the herd, many of them still sleeping or just starting to stir. The breeze this morning was absolutely wonderful, just refreshing. She made her way around, making sure that their spot was still safe even though the lead stallion had no doubt already done it just moments before. She stopped by the river, taking a few sips from it before turning back and judging the area safe. She let out a small whinny and continued, gently nudging a few of the others to get them up and moving. While this place was safe, if they didn't get moving before long there was no doubt something would happen upon them and it wouldn't end well...especially if it was
them.
They walked on two legs, carried strange things that bound a horse and often broke the fighting spirit, bending it to
their will. It was horrible to witness and
they'd already taken quite a few members out of this herd. Haley didn't want to see any others go missing.
As soon as everyone was up and watered, Haley started to help the lead stallion gather everyone up and prepare them to start moving again. When everyone was gathered, the lead stallion stood before them all and reared up, letting out a powerful neigh that Haley could feel resonating within her very core. His was a soul that rivaled her own; strong, fierce, and loyal. She nodded and was the first of the herd to return the rear with a soul-shaking neigh of her own. As the rest of the herd joined in, the lead stallion turned and dashed forward. He only glanced back once as Haley and the others joined in behind him, the thunderous sound of hooves ripping through the air around them and shaking the earth beneath them. Today...was no doubt going to be just as incredible as the last. They'd only stopped a few times that day to graze and drink a little more, for the past few weeks the stallion's been leading the heard as close to the river bank as possible, not wanting to stray to far or risk exposing them to some of the more undesirable creatures that lurked just beyond the forest edge. Haley looked up as the sun began to set and let out a small warning neigh to the stallion, who returned with an acknowledging neigh, motioning towards another small clearing just a little ways ahead, it was a perfect alcove to stop for the night. It had begun to get cold, Haley's breath condensing before her eyes in a trail of white steam.
The herd pulled off the path they were on, coming to a stop in the alcove and taking a few moments to catch their breath before letting themselves relax a bit as the lead stallion and Haley checked the surroundings to make sure they were safe. Haley stepped up to the stallion's side after awhile, "Things seem pretty calm here. I think it's safe to rest now." She let out a small sigh. There hadn't been many words exchanged today between the herd members, probably because everyone was still worried that
they would catch up. Even though the stallion was doing the best he could, Haley knew the inevitable truth was that at some point
they would eventually reach them. It was all just a matter of time. The stallion looked over at Haley and nodded, "Alright. Let everyone know that this place has the 'Okay' and that they should get as much rest as possible, we're going to need to cover about as much ground as we did today." His voice was rough, raspy, yet strong and gentle. It was a voice that over the years, Haley found relaxing. She returned to the herd and relayed the message, watching the relief watch over the herd as they all huddled a bit closer for warmth as they slowly drifted to sleep. Haley knew that the stallion would watch throughout the night and alert them should anything go wrong. The mare closed her eyes with the rest of the herd and felt that wonderful blackness of sleep watch over her.
As she slept, Haley began to dream. She dreamed of a place where nothing but a few trees existed, the ground was a lush green and covered by the softest grass she'd ever felt. She galloped about happily, taking in the fresh scent of everything. The pines mixing with the daisies and the slight scent of the dust she was kicking up. It was lovely, absolutely amazing. Paradise. She stopped by the riverbank and looked into the crystal clear water, watching a few fishes swim by in a seemingly carefree way. She was just about to take a sip from the river when suddenly everything went to black and she was ripped away from her dream and sleep by whinnies of fear and neighs of panic. Haley's eyes flew open as she quickly looked around, moving just in time to avoid a strange object that tried to loop around her neck. That's when it all set in,
they were here!
They caught up!!
She looked around frantically, the stallion was trying to fend off the few he could, but there were so many of them! Two, no four...wait..those ones over there...seven. There were seven besides the three that the stallion was fighting off. The herd-! Haley whipped around to check on everyone else, only...there was noone there. At some point during all the commotion, the herd had scattered and not even Haley could tell where everyone went, "Giro!!" She looked back at the Stallion who gave her a fierce neigh as he kicked a few of the two legged creatures out of his way, "Get going Haley! Find the others...! Don't let them get you too! Get out of here, that's an order!" He commanded and without a second thought Haley obeyed, taking off in the opposite direction.
She ran and ran until the sounds of that horrible chaos finally died down. She kept running, and running. She didn't know where she was or how far she'd run but with everything that'd just happened her body didn't want to stop. She shut her eyes tightly, "Giro...Hannah...everyone...I'm sorry! I should have protected you all better...I'm sorry..." She finally let herself slow down to a stop as she felt her body shaking with the exhaustion. What happened back there? They'd covered so much ground! How did
they catch up so quickly..?! It shouldn't have been possible...but it happened. And she didn't like it one bit. She was powerless to help, heck...she didn't even try. In the chaos she mindlessly obeyed the first command her stallion gave her and that was 'run'. She let her head droop in despair, trying her best to close her eyes and sleep this off...or with any luck, wake up from this horrid nightmare.
The sound of rumbling hooves roused Haley from her sleep as her eyes fluttered open. A small herd was heading her way, they only seemed to be about four strong. Three stallions and a mare, by the looks of it. A faint glimmer of hope sparked inside her again, maybe they'd take her in or at least let her join until she was ready to stand on her own...As one of the stallions stopped in front of her, it was clear he was the leader. His hide was golden, like the sun shining above them and his mane as deep a brown as the earth that shook beneath his every step. He looked Haley over, something between disdain and indifference lingering behind his eyes, "Who're you? And what are you doing out here alone?" He asked. His voice was strong, but not raspy like Giro's. His had a noble air to it, very regal sounding. Haley drew in a breath and made eye contact, "My name's Haley's Comet, but everyone calls me Haley. And as for what I'm doing here...well...my herd was broken up and scattered by a group of these strange two legged creatures with some kind of weird thing that had the ability to bind a horse." She explained. The stallion let out a heavy sigh and started to move past, "That's fine and good...you should clear out as soon as possible then." He spoke in a cold voice. Another horse, the mare, stepped up next, "Alarico! That's no way to be talking to a stranger. Especially not one that's been through what she has-!" She scolded.
The mare's hide matched the stallion, who was recently revealed to be Alarinco, but her Main was a beautiful platinum silver that gradually ended in forest green tips. She had a few green rings around her ankles and markings that Haley had never seen before. She had beautiful green markings, including one that looked exactly like a butterfly. The mare smiled at Haley and shook her head, "I'm sorry about him, Alarinco's always been pretty cautious around new members. I'm Papillon by the way, and you've already met my leader, Alarinco over there. Mr. Icey cold over there." She smirked. Haley felt herself smile a bit and nodded, "I'm Haley, it's nice to finally meet a few friendly faces." she laughed a bit. From in the distance, Alarinco snorted again, "Don't even suggest it Papillon." He started to interject but was quickly cut off by a, "Do you need a herd...? Ours is a bit small but we could take you in too." from Papillon. Alarinco glared,
If I had hands I would so be slapping you right now, Papillon. he thought to himself, slowly whacking his head off a tree.
The last two horses joined the small group, they had been trailing a fair bit behind the first two but no doubt were part of the group. The first stallion stepped up, and Haley was instantly drawn to the Amber yellow eyes. Such a bright, vibrant color compared to what she was used to! He had light brown hide with a slightly darker brown and white spots scattered about. His mane was an extremely dark brown that ended in pure white tips. He stepped up to Papillon and Haley with a broad smile, "Hey there, are we gettin' a new girl? So far little Papillon's the only girl here, she could use a friend. Right Alarinco-? Oh, I'm Hayduke by the way...hey, are..you alright? You look like you've been through a lot." He leaned closer to Haley, who quickly stepped back in embarassment, "I..I'm just fine. And I dunno, it doesn't seem like your leader's too fond of me, or that tree over there. But, I'm Haley nonetheless." She introduced herself a third time to both the new stallions. The second one gave a small bow, His hide was a brown that was so faded it almost looked gray, his face was pure white and so was one of his back legs. A few tribal markings in a darker shade of his hide color decorated his front legs and his mane was a blackish color, and braided for a small section of it, "It's an honor to meet a mare with an appearance as unique as yours. My name's Etan. I'd very much like to have your company around our small group." He smiled warmly with a slightly refined feel to him. Haley found herself smiling a bit, such a diverse group of horses but they're all getting along so well together. Like a strange family. It certainly made Haley feel abit better about everything, but she still felt guilty for running.
Alarinco turned to the group again and sighed, "Look, you're all gonna gang up on me until I say she can join us, so I'll just cut the middle mare out, She can come with us." He closed his eyes in defeat and Papillon practically jumped for joy, "Yes-!" her enthusiasm was felt around the entire group as the other three welcomed Haley into the group, telling her that they'd have a lot of fun together and that they'd hoped everyone could be friends. Haley looked around herself for a moment and couldn't help but smile, things may have just started looking up for her. And maybe they'd find her old herd...who could say for sure? All Haley knew was that this was her new beginning and she was going to try even harder to make sure this one stayed safe.
