Username: iluvQHs26
Kennel Number: #143
Use: If I were chosen to be his new owner, I would be use Kotonaru in a short story I will be making, and will probably RP with him in the future. I will create him a mate and perhaps pups someday. I would most definitely do art of him as well, and of course I will love him forever! *squishy hug*
Name: Kotonaru
Gender: Male
Species and/or specific breed: Wolf
Personality: Quiet, reserved. However, he has a quick temper and is easily angered over trivial things. He is also very competitive and will never turn down a good race or fight.
History/Background:Story Overview~
Kotonaru was born in a pack, raised by his mother and father, who were the Alpha and the Alpha’s mate at the time. His birth name was not Kotonaru, but because that has been his name ever since the ‘incident’, hardly anybody even remembers his real one.
When he was a young adult, Kotonaru had a near-fatal injury when he stepped in a hunter’s bear claw trap whilst out spying on a human town with his pack. He had somehow gotten separated from them when a dog chased them away from the town, so nobody was around. Without food or water, he was soon rendered unconscious. It was a week later that a human happened upon him and freed him from the trap.
Unfortunately, Kotonaru had already begun chewing at his leg, and it had become infected, on top of already being broken. It would not be able to be saved, and a three-legged wolf would soon die in the wild. The man, who turned out to be a scientist who’d been researching prosthetics for years, decided to bring the wolf back to his lab and experiment with a design he’d been creating.
When Kotonaru woke up next, he was lying on the ground outside a ‘human camp’, as he called it, with a strange looking human contraption where his left hind leg should be. At first he tries to chew, shake, and smash it off, but after learning that it was, unfortunately, now a part of his body, he decided he would have to make the best of it.
But when he returned to his homeland, his pack treated him as an outcast – everyone but his mother and father. That was when he was dubbed Kotonaru, which means ‘different’. Due to this, he soon went off on his own. He would soon learn, however, that the fake leg was infinitely more powerful and durable than his own.
First Chapter~
(Prologue)
In a wolf pack somewhere in the mountains, the Alpha gained a new successor. He was a gangly little thing, and his color was unlike that of the others, but everyone respected him as their future leader. The rulership of the pack had been in the same family for more than five generations, so nobody doubted that it would stay that way with this young pup.
"I believe that he will become another great leader for us all," said one of the elders in the pack. He was known as one of the wisest, and his faded green eyes held many stories and secrets. "The Alpha's family has always provided us with shelter, food and water. Even in the winter we eat well."
Agreements echoed from the rest of the elders. There were some of the pack members, of course, who weren't happy with the same family becoming Alpha year after year, but none of them dared to speak out loud. And so, life in the pack was peaceful and prosperous...
...until that day...

"Here it is," said a cocky grey wolf known as Brawn.
It was very appropriate too, the young heir thought disdainfully, eyes scanning the older wolf's bulky, muscular frame.
He does so enjoy flashing those muscles around. He didn't know why he'd agreed to come along in the first place. Firstly, it was rather idiotic to get this close to humans. Even though their so-called 'guard dogs' were pathetic weaklings, they had quite the bark and a human with a fireweapon is not to be underestimated. Second, he didn't even like the wolves he'd gone along with.
Still, he was rather curious about the humans. How they were able to make such fine dens, and defend themselves without even touching their enemy. He supposed it was only natural to feel some sort of interest in their affairs. He crept closer and peered over the edge at the human pack below.
There were so many dens! In his pack they had but one, and everybody shared it. In this human pack, however, there seemed to be a den for each and every member!
"Cool, eh?" Brawn muttered, smirking slightly. "I found it the other day. You can sit here for hours and nobody -"
A chorus of loud barking broke the silence in the air. A dog was bounding up the ridge toward them. Wonderful, the heir thought to himself. Everyone started running and he fell in behind, making sure to put himself in harm's way rather than the others. He could the dog dropping behind and grinned in triumph. Those stupid mutts would never be able to run as fast as a wolf.
But just as he said that, he felt something sharp and cool grab his leg and he was jerked back painfully, falling into the moist forest dirt.
~*~*~*~
He didn't know where he was or why. All he knew was pain. Sharp, neverending pain that shot from his leg top his hip, and just generally made his whole body miserable. He groaned slightly, opening his eyes to find himself lying on the ground. He struggled to drag himself into a sitting position, to no avail. He glanced down at the leg that was giving him so much trouble.
A human trap. The cold steel teeth bit into his leg. He groaned again and flopped back down. Maybe...if he just waited here, somebody would come and find him. He couldn't be that far away from the pack's territory, could he? He got his answer later that night, when he heard the howl of an unfamiliar wolf.
By the fourth day without food or water, the young heir wished he could just give up. But he was their future Alpha! He couldn't give up...not yet. Without stopping to think of the consequences, he started gnawing at his leg, the trap...anything standing in his way of freedom. For hours he tried, but he failed to free himself.
I've failed... He let out a heavy sigh and laid his head on the ground, succumbing to the desire to give up.

"My, my...what have we here?" the scientist murmured to himself, taking in the sight of a young wolf lying on the ground, motionless. His left hind leg was caught in a bear claw trap. Being quiet, lest the injured creature wake up, he knelt beside the wolf and worked to free him from the metal contraption.
Even as he removed the claw from the wolf's leg, he knew it was useless. The leg was obviously infected and would not be able to be saved. The scientist sighed and scratched his skin, debating what to do next.
Well, there is that new piece I wanted to try out, he thought brightly.
I would be giving this poor thing a helping hand, too...oops, I mean foot. He chuckled at his own joke. He carefully lifted the wolf off the ground and carried him away from the scene of his accident.
~*~*~*~
"There! Perfect." The scientist wiped the sweat off his forehead with his sleeve. The wolf he had rescued was lying before him on the operating table. The man examined his work and made a few last adjustments, before laying his tools down.
"Couldn't have picked a better subject than you, my young friend," he said, stroking the wolf's fur. "But now it is time for you to go. I cannot test the true durability of this piece in the lab."
He picked the wolf up and carried him outside again.
Chapter 2 (preview)~
He was just an ordinary wolf. He lived in an ordinary pack and had ordinary parents and ordinary friends. So then how had it managed to end up like...this?
(I plan to make him a mate in the future; most likely a wolf with two hind prosthetics.)
Likes/dislikes/art, etc. [optional]: Likes; Racing, hunting, swimming, fighting… Dislikes; Teasing, being treated like an outcast, all other wolves with the exception of his parents and (soon) his mate…
