I just want to clarify this because it bugs me; vulpes coccino is latin for phantom fox. vulpes is fox. therefor vulpe isn't a word.

Sorry to inform you but Vulpe is a word. Vulpes Coccino is actually Phantom Foxes.
Emphasis on the 's'. Although we are using the Latin for fox, vulpe is still a word and therefore liable.
Vulpe is still fox although it is Romanian. Sorry to be like this but im just stating.

And again, even if we are using the Latin term for our species, we can still use Vulpe for the singular of
Vulpes as it is a word which is the singular of fox.
