Colour palettes: I quite enjoy this palette, with the blue and green for the crystals.
Markings: Could I have this as the pattern?
Edits/accessories: Could the crystals be glowing? And perhaps have the feathers and extra crystals similar but not exactly the same as the December 23 advent Cryst?
Other: I will be using my custom ticket. c:
I agree to abide by the species rules: Of course!

I'm not sure if I am supposed to PM this to someone, but if I am I can easily take this down. And if it is too early I can take it down; it said open on the front page which is why I am posting.

I claim this, as nobody else have yetXD

Round Open!

This round we will have 5 cryst, the rule stands you can only try for one. There will be two guardians put up this round. They were two of the origanal guardians. You may include naranda's guardian cryst in their history. They must stay guardians so be aware of that and read the legends before trying out. Enjoy Guys

Crystinalians - Pen Number Three - Koi

Postby allinian » Tue Jan 27, 2015 3:33 am

Pen Number ThreeImage

    Name: Koi

Will you make any use of the Cryst?: Of course- RPs, ordering art, answering questions, etc. <3

    Personality:
Stubborn - Koi is very stubborn and doesn't like to listen to other's advice. He always sticks with his
idea no matter how bad it seems or how obvious it is that the other choice is better. It is also very
hard to impress him, as well as getting him to compliment something or someone.

Ambitious - Koi is also very ambitious and loves to be the leader. He doesn't like following other's
orders and has a very big ego; because of this, he has a fear of failure and it is very hard to get him
to give up. Once Koi starts something, he will never stop until it is finished perfectly. He is the biggest
      perfectionist you'll ever meet.

Curious/Adventurous - Since Koi was a little Crystinalian, he always loved to explore the area
around him and discover new things. Even though he is older now, nothing can stop him from
chasing a small speck of light down to find it's source. Whenever he isn't sleeping, he'll be wandering
      through forests or fields.

Energetic - One second Koi is here and the next second he isn't. Even though Koi like to stick to one
spot to live in, it's very hard to catch him in one specific place for a long time. This is because it is very
hard for Koi to focus on one specific idea for a long time and his mind tends to wander more than think.
    History:
      - Early Childhood -->
      ----(0 years old - 12 years old)

--Koi was born into a large family where he was the youngest of three (3). At the age of two and a
half (2 1/2), his family abandoned him under a large willow tree. The reason still remains unknown
to Koi himself, but a few weeks after being left alone, another Crystinalian family found Koi and took
him in as their own child. They lived near a shallow waterfall, where he went exploring almost every
day and found his fear of water-since he couldn't swim.

      - Teen Years -->
      ----(13 years old - 17 years old)

--Adventuring the area day after day, Koi started to realize that the food in the area was becoming
more scarce and they zhad less to eat. Koi left the family at the age of sixteen (16) because he felt
like a burden and he thought it was for the greater good. In the next year, Koi observed his surrou-
ndings and learned how to use his resources to hunt and search for food without trouble.

      - Adult Years -->
      ----(18 years old - 24 years old)

--As Koi grew older and older, he became more independent and slowly began to lose his curious
personality. During Koi’s adult years he spent most of his time looking for food and shelter for the
cold or windy days to come. He’s only lived in one different place since he was a child because he
is too hesitant to go somewhere else.

      - Present Day -->
      ----(25 years old - 26 years old)

--Koi's curiosity is still in him, although he spends most of his time sleeping in a small cave a little
bit off the center of a forest. Occasionally, Koi will be found wandering around the damp forest and
exploring unknown places for his own knowledge. At times, he will go to the dry, sandy areas and
make intricate designs in the sand, wondering if another Crystinalian will find it.

Name: Atara
Pen number: 2
Will you make any use of the Cryst?: Of course! In fact, it looks like one of my OCs...
Personality:
Usually calm and collected, but in the heat of battle it's as if a demon is there... Every once in awhile, she won't come out of her sleeping place due to past drama. If anyone teases her about anyone she knew, you will never see them again.
History:
Her father had been killed for his pelt by humans when she was oh so small. Her mother became mad in grief, and just abandoned her young when they were weaned. They all stuck together, forming a small pack of 5. The day a storm rolled through, would be the last day Atara saw her siblings. Lightning split a tree, and the falling branches killed one of her brothers. The blinding light separated her from the only family she had left. After the storm, the female was sheltered underneath a tree cave. A few weeks after her departure from her siblings, Atara began to explore the land around her. Unaware, a cliff edge was just in front of her paws. She slid down the edge, breaking her crystals horribly. The female had managed to not snap her neck on the way down, but discovered a Crystalian less fortunate. Her mother's body lay in front of her with her neck broken. The only thing that distinguished her from the other bodies, was the scent and crystals. Overwhelmed in grief, a creature by the name of Kibatara. It was a disabled wolf with butterfly wings. He had lost his front legs in an accident. The wolf butterfly nursed Atara and gave her the name she now uses. After a few years, she bid goodbye to him one last time as Kibatara closed his eyes forever. Atara now spends her time with a close friend of Kibatara's named Kintreb. Kintreb was Kibatara's cousin, and is 100 years old, and will live for another thousand. The two have grown inseparable and will forever be by eachothers side.
Other:
That took me a good 20 minutes.
Lights OFF
told my love to wreck it all
cut out all the ropes and let me fall
in the morning i'll be with you
but it will be a different kind
come on skinny love
what happened here
now all your love is wasted
then who the hell was i?

Name:
Tohopka

Name Meaning:
Native American Hopi meaning "Wild Beast"

Nickname:
Toho sometimes Opi for those he is fond of

Gender:
Male

Sexuality:
Straight

Pen number:
Pen Number five

Will you make any use of the Cryst?:
Yes, OMG I literally saw this cryst and my jaw dropped. He is just... he is too amazing to give up. I am a sucker for greens and nature.

Personality:
"While no trait is one hundred percent good or one hundred percent bad we are judged on the simplest of definition."
Good traits
- Stoic - Very hard to tell what he is thinking Toho likes it that way. His face is almost always neutral though fluctuations are just fine.
- Leader - A strong and skilled leader, he is revered for being able to bring people together.
- Headstrong - He will do anything that he thinks is right, with very little influence from others.
- Protective - Extremely protective of those under his care, or innocents. He is very sweet and kind to children and females. Though he knows that females can protect themselves. He has a soft spot for cubs.
- Calculating - Tohopka prefers to think plans through before making decisions. He will think of the pros and cons of each situation and take the best course of action.

Bad traits
- Overly Protective - Too protective sometimes, he can be overbearing and controling for other's safety. He fears losing someone under his charge.
- Bullheaded - Set in his ways it is hard to take a new action but if you can out bull him you will earn his respect.
- Impatient - Once a plan is chosen it must be quickly put into place. He can be found pacing back and forth in one spot until the plan is finished if he is not part of it. He will not tolerate lateness
- Detached - He can be seen as detached, cold even. But that is not true. He holds everyone at arms length in order to properly lead.
- Ruthless - Though he is not always ruthless, he will do anything to protect those he cares about who care for him. He does not prefer bloodshed though so this trait is seen rarely.

Favorite Quotes of his:
- for battle - "You will fall like the trees that were torn from their roots, painful and hard"
- To his followers - "I will not fail you, We will remain strong like the oldest of jungles"

History:
I can almost feel the pain as my trees fall around me. The teeth of every saw that carves a new emptiness is nothing like the agony I feel from my subjects. Those far below me, pleading for my return... but I am unable, for I am locked in this wretched stone prison that keeps me prisoner far above in my temple. Years have passed since I was sent to sleep here, yet I am still worshiped like I God, like a Guardian that I am. But what kind of guardian allows his people to die because he is not strong enough to break the stone walls that surrounds him.
"Crack*
The screams ring through me as another Crystinalian is murdered, his dying cries pleading for his family to run. I can hear the crashing through my forest as his family obeys his dying order.
*Bang... crash*
Another of the family is down, the warm blood seeping into my jungle. I can only imagine her tears rushing from her eyes as she becomes paralyzed infront of her cub. "Momma!" calls the young Cryst, her voice traveling through my jungle. The anguish echoing into every tree.
*crack*
I hear the cub's cries and I can no longer resist, I will not be a prisoner anymore. I will protect my jungle and my people if it is the last thing I do. A roar is building in me, if only I could let it out, scare the humans away so they will never come back. The roar builds and builds until finally it bursts from my throat as I pound once more on the walls surrounding me. I watch as the top of the temple walls fall towards the ground, my face twisted in distaste. With years of energy behind me I bound from my spot ontop of the temple, the wind rushing through my fur as I soar hundreds of feet to the ground. A roar is released from my throat again as I bound off into the jungle, my jungle.

I do not think nor feel as I run through the green foliage, making my way towards the cries. In the distance I can see a ring of humans around a fallen object and I leap, soaring again through the air to land in the middle of the formation. A roar bursts from my throat again as I protect the fallen cryst and her child. "You will fall like the trees that were torn from their roots, painful and hard" I cry my teeth bared as I narrow my bright green eyes, the orbs shining with my rage. The humans stumble back, their own eyes wide with fear as they begin to tremble at my presence. "I am Tohopka, Guardian of of this jungle and the crystinalians who call it home! You are petulant weasels, unworthy of the little power you may wield! Leave my jungle, my home or feel my wrath crash down upon you!" The humans run as I speak, very few lasting until my final words.

With a sigh I remove myself from the protective position over the fallen female and her cub. I can tell that the young mother is still holding on, but just barely. "Hold on young warriors, you are safe." I coo gently as matching sets of blue eyes meet mine. Bending down I lift the injured cryst onto my back.It is difficult to carry something on your back as one of us, but I will not leave an injured female with those lowlife humans around. Looking down at the young cub I give a small reassuring smile. "Come young one, Remain strong." I say before heading towards the shrubbery.

*****

I have been free for more than a month now, and being able to move is wonderful. I am leading my species on a revolution, it is time that we began to win back our land. Plan after plan is made and carried out, 70% of them successful. The humans are beginning to retreat, their machines sunk into tunnels we dug, their camps demolished by groups of my strongest warriors, and so much more is driving them back away from our home. A close bond began to form between myself and a dragon, our relationship prospering as the humans leave everything. My fellow Crystinalians look to me as their leader, their guardian, and I will not disappoint them. Only time will tell if we can survive, but I have faith that we can win!

Relationships:
Serkan - "He is a strong warrior, one who I trust with my life. He prefers to keep to himself but there is nothing wrong with that.
Centehua - "She can be rather annoying, not wanting to kill the humans. But I respect her will and do not kill when she is around."
Meiheika - "Stuck up little thing. She dislikes me, I dislike her. It's a mutual arrangement."

Other:
The pain consumes me, my kingdom falling
I am able to see, my subjects calling
The stone cracks, I am free

Re: Crystinalians -Posting Open (Round Oppen)

Postby NARANDA » Tue Jan 27, 2015 5:03 am

Image
Name: Tsuyakeshi | Origin: Japanese | Meaning: Frosted | Gender: Male | Orientation: Hetrosexual | Pen number: 2
Will you make any use of the Cryst?:
Yes, he shall be part of my Crystinalian "Clan" and he
shall be very loved. I plan to write about him, RP him
sometime, get him art and the like. I shall love and
admire him all the time and show off him and his
awesomeness! I love this boy's delicate, yet fierce
look and hope to give him a good and loving home
with me.
Notes About Him:
- The swirls on his fur disappear when he is in a warm location.
- His crystals are cold like ice, but do not melt of course.
- Prefers to live in the northern mountains.
- He likes to chew on ice when he is bored.
- He likes sleeping on hard surfaces like packed dirt or stone.
- He loves the snow and his favorite season is winter.
- Likes seeing the steam from his crystals in a hot spring.
Image
Personality:
Tsuyakeshi is elegant and graceful, yet fierce and loyal. He makes sure his actions and words are smooth and pleasing to the eye and ears. Yet he can fight long and hard against any enemy that so dares attack him. He is a loner and dislikes living with others, but does not mind visiting once and a while, even when he visits though, he tends to stay disconnected and reserved from the others, unwilling to get too close to anyone, afraid of losing them. He is willing to protect any Cryst from the hunters, for he would rather save an enemy from a hunter, then allow the hunters to get what they want. He hates the hunters more then anything and would team up with anyone to get rid of them, but he would not join a group for any other reason then that.

Image
He enjoys cold temperatures and is more used to them then others tend to be because he is constantly cold due to the crystals on his back. He does not mind warm weather though, it is just not his favorite. He enjoys a dip in a hot spring once and a while normally to watch the steam from the conflicting temperatures of his crystals and the water, and also to watch the unusual aspect of his fur, the fact that the swirls disappear when he is warm. Another thing he enjoys is sleeping on hard surfaces. He can not usually sleep in a soft nest or soft ground like loose soil or forest floor, tossing and turning all night. On a harder surface he finds it makes him tougher and better fit for survival, also he can better feel vibrations of anything large moving around, making him feel more reassured that he'll be alerted to danger.
Image
History:
She was so beautiful, her colors of autumn and shimmering gold eyes. Her crystals were a beautiful amber color, and they were shimmering in the light that peaked through the canopy as she moved quietly through the trees, searching for her prey, a herd of deer that normally traveled through these woods around this time of year. It was winter time and she stood out against the white snow and bare trees, giving her a disadvantage in hunting, until her buried herself beneath the snow, hiding her body, but leaving her crystals exposed, peaking up above the snowy blanket. This interested me quite a bit as I was never taught to hunt properly and did not understand what she was do exactly, I just used my light colors to my advantage in winter. I waited and watched, hoping to find out her reason for doing this, for quite some time I sat there, hiding behind the trees against the white snowy backdrop, waiting to see what would happen, then finally, the herd arrived. They were not far from the female who buried herself in the snow, and they seemed to be fascinated by the crystals sticking out of the snow. A young doe wandered up, sniffing and poking at the crystals, seeing what they were, they assumed they were safe, and a few others joined the doe in their exploration of the strange phenomenon. They all snooped around the area and poked at the crystals until a large, yet young buck came wandering up the strange bunch of amber crystals.

A flurry of snow and the startled deer made it obvious that the female had leaped free of her snowy hiding spot and made her move. When the snow settled, I could see her with her prize. Her jaw around it's neck, having just made the killing blow. She looked pleased with her work and did not notice as I came out of my hiding spot and started walking over to her. She was just getting ready to drag her prey back to wherever she was from when I finally spoke up. "That is a very handy technique you have there." I saw her jump, startled, and spin around to face me, growling at me, fear in her eyes. I stood there, calm, and then sat in front of her waiting for her also to calm down. She gave me a suspicious look, before relaxing a bit. "Who are you?' She gave me a suspicious, yet curious turn of of the head. I smiled at her before I introduced myself. "My name it Tsuyakeshi, but you may call Kesh." I dipped my head to her, and then waiting for her to introduce herself as well. She hesitated, clearly unsure if she should trust me or not, but he relented and gave me her name. "My name is Ayita." My smile grew as I got a reply. "Ayita, what a pretty name."

This was our first meetings and we would be friends for quite some time after this day, until the hunters took her from me. I will never forget that day, and neither will the other witness who saw the death of such a gentle soul, a soul so special to both of us in different ways. To me, she was my closest friends, and I think I loved her. To him she was a younger sister whom he cared about so deeply. Both of us would morn that night, and both of us will never forget the blood stained snow.

I was headed to the place me and Ayita normally hunted together. I enjoyed hunting with her and learning from her, but this day was different. I saw markings in the snow where someone had hid, most likely Ayita, to use her crystals for hunting, her normal technique, but she was gone now. She would not have left unless it was important on one of our hunting days together. I looked around a little more, finding the boot tracks of a hunter. A sudden dread filled me as I saw them, then I found Ayita's tracks heading the other direction. I started to run, following Ayita's tracks, fear filling me as I ran further and further without seeing her. Then I realized she was trying to circle around. It hit me then that she would most likely make her way into the large field not far from here, so I turned and make a short cut to the field, stopping at the edge of the field.

It was like time had slowed. I saw Ayita, the hunter, the gun and another cryst. I saw the hunter pulling the trigger and the look of sadness in Ayita's eyes. I was helpless as I saw the bullet pierce into her beautiful soul. Her eyes glazed over and blood dripped down her side before I saw her fall with a soft thud in the snow. A pool of blood turned the snow around her red. She didn't even see me, her eyes were only on the other cryst who stood on the edge of the field, shock and horror written on his face. The hunters did not see him though, and left him be, along with myself, as they took Ayita's body, to be made in to decorations and blankets.

I did not notice when the other cryst left, I actually left before him, following the hunter who took away my friend, the girl I had fallen in love with. Anger and rage filled my soul, creating an unquenchable hate for the hunters. I would not let them take their prize, I would not let them make my Ayita into a stuffed display, no, I would make sure she got the burial she deserved, but how could I do such a thing? I formulated a plan in my head as I trotted through the forest, following the trail left by the hunter and his prize. My hatred grew with every step as I saw evidence of how he treated her body, dragging her through the snow, dropping her roughly a few times. She may have been dead, but the hunter should respect the one whose life he had just taken, she died for his use and now he was treating her like waste, like she was nothing. It angered me.

From the many stories and legends of our kind, the natives always respected the Crystinalians, respecting us and thanking us for our lives that have provided them with things they need. I started to wonder what happened to the respectful people of the land, how could the people become such horrible creatures who kill just for the sake of killing. Angry tears came to my eyes as I picked up the pace to keep up with the hunter. My thoughts, filled with rage, confusion, and sadness, wandered as we got closer the hunter's cabin. I stopped on the edge of the clearing surrounding the cabin as the hunter brought Ayita's body to a small shack around the back. I watched him as he latched it shut, but he didn't seem to put a lock on it. I waited in silence as he left and entered the cabin, having put away his prize to work with later.

I trotted quietly around the edge of the clearing, staying within the shadows of the trees until I was close enough to the hut, then I entered the wide open space and looked around. I started up my trot again and came to the door of the shack. I shifted my weight to my hind legs and lifted my front, placing one paw against the wall of the building to keep myself upright. I started to fiddle with the latch, trying to loosen it, then it finally opened when I pushed the latch upward with the back of my paw. I fell back onto all four paws and opened the door with my nose, peeking inside for any danger. Nothing seemed dangerous and so I entered, looking around in the dim light, trying to find Ayita. My eyes adjusted, and there she was, her body laid on a wooden table along the far wall. I looked behind me before entering the shack and pulling her body down from the table, and onto my back, just behind my crystals.

I was soon out of the shack, leaving the clearing and into the woods, taking Ayita to give her the burial she deserved. I thought about places to bury her, wondering if I could find her family and return her body to them, but then I thought of the perfect place. Our favorite place was always the creek. It is where we always met for our hunting trips and the best place for hunting. I knew she would have loved to be buried there, it was such a beautiful spot to be laid to rest. I headed off towards the creek to bury her, and to finish helping her out for the last time.

Notes About The Stories Below:
The first two stories are not from Tsuyakeshi's point of view, but from Ayita's and Oscar's.
Ayita's sotry was written before the competition, but I have since edited it to include this boy.
Oscar's story takes place two years after the death of Ayita, his sister.
The third story is just a happy story to contrast against all the sadness and death.
Ayita's Story:
The day was a cold, beautiful winter day. The snow sparkled in the light and the icicles shimmered where they hung. I closed my eyes and let the cool breeze ruffle my pelt. Unlike my brother, I was a winter cub, born two winters after my brother was born. I walked through the snow towards the entrance, planning on meeting my secret hunter partner, Tsuyakeshi, and hoping to catch something large for the elders to eat. I headed towards the creek where we normally met for hunting and when I got there, Tsu was not there, so I dug a hole in the snow to hide, my crystals peeking above the surface. I was seeing if I could catch something before Tsu arrived.
I crouched there for quite some time before I heard movement, but it was not Tsu, or any form of prey. I knew the scent of a hunter from a mile away. I dug deeper into the snow, hoping to hide myself and the crystals that were peeking above the snow, and it worked, for the meantime anyways. The hunter passed and I got up, looking at the tracks the hunter had left. It was headed straight towards the camp, my family. I couldn't let it reach there, but the only way to stop it was to kill it or die. I started to run the other way, making as much noise as I could, sending the hunter running in my direction as fast as he could.
I continued to run and run till I reached a large field. I knew he was going to catch me, I knew I was going to die. I thought of my family, the elders and my brother as I ran across the field, waiting for the bullet to pierce my heart. There stood my brother at the edge of the field, everything seemed to be in slow motion as we made eye contact and the shot went off. I felt it and stopped dead in my tracks. I stared at my brother, knowing he thought it was his fault this was happening. I tried to tell him with my eyes that it wasn't for I could no longer speak. My vision blurred and my muscles went limp, then I fell to the ground, my vision black and no longer able to see my brother. My last thought before I died, was "I love you".
Oscar's Story:
It has been two years since her death, and even though I still miss her, I no longer shed tears over her death. She was gone, and there was nothing I could do about it, but I could remember the happy times we spent together and the good things about her life. Keeping this image of her alive has helped me to smile when I think of her instead of cry. I had pushed the image of her death to the back of my mind, trying not to remember what I witnessed that day, and it had worked, until I met him, the only other witness to the murder of my dear sister, a friend I never knew she had.

I had gone out to find some fresh moss to use for a sick cub. He needed some water and the moss we had was used by another sick Cryst and our healer did not want to reuse it with such a young cryst. So I was sent out to find some fresh moss for the child. I headed towards the creek and started searching along the edges. I saw a good clump of moss on a stony patch and started to trot along the shore towards it. I was almost there when I tripped over a small mound I didn't notice. I fell down, unable to catch myself, my chin hitting the dirt. I stood up and shook myself off before looking at the mound.

It was no ordinary mound, it seemed to have been made, not formed. I looked at it curiously, wondering who had made it and why, then I noticed the freshly picked flowers sitting on top of it. It must have been a grave of some sort, but for whom, and who buried them. They were not from our little tribe as we always buried our members whose bodies we could retrieve at a small clearing not far from our camp. No one has been buried by the creek as far as we knew, and if it was a creature from the early days, then there would not be any fresh flowers here. I stared at it a while longer, confused and curious, but I tried to shake it off and I walked over to collect some of the moss I had spotted.

"It's you." I was startled by the strange voice, and I slipped on the rocks. I fell into the creek with a splash, and as I gained my balance on the creek bed I coughed up the little bit of water that got into my windpipe. I looked over to see where the voice had come from to see a male Crystinalian I had never seen before. I gave him a suspicious look, and stood up to get out of the water. I kept him in my sight as I moved out of the water and onto dry land. I shook myself off to dry my fur a little and I faced the strange male. His words then clicked in my head. How did he know me?

"How do you know me?' I asked, my fur standing up and my muscles tensed, ready to either fight or flee. He seemed very calm, but he seemed to be ready to defend himself. "I saw you, two years ago." He replied. I stared at him, wondering when and where he had seen me so long ago, and how did he remember me if it was so long ago. "You stood on the edge of the field, you saw her die. You knew Ayita, my friend." My eyes went wide with shock, and I looked at the ground in thought, as he spoke, and I remembered that day two years ago, as I watched my sister get killed by a hunter. "I'm curious, how do YOU know her?" I lifted my head to look at him again. "She was my sister." He seemed to get a sad look in his eyes. "Then you may want to know, that the grave you tripped on is her final resting place." I spun around to look at the mound, a shock and sadness coming over me. "I retrieved her body from the hunters and buried her here by the creek where we always met each other." I did not look at him as he spoke, I just stared at the grave. after a time he came over and sat next to me. We sat there in silence together, remembering that night. Remembering my sister and his friend.
The Hot Springs:
Oscar and I had since become friends, but I have not allowed myself to get to close to him. I think it makes him sad, but he allows it as he knows how much it hurt to lose Ayita. I am happy to have him around though, it's comforting knowing that I am not alone and he feels the same way I do. We would go hunting together and he started teaching me about different plants he had found which really helped with wounds or sickness, especially since I was living alone. He taught me so much, but I hadn't showed him anything thus far. I decided to share with him something that I found quite fun and relaxing.

Oscar had never been to a hot spring before and so I decided to take him to my favorite place. A small natural hot spring a little ways up the mountain. It was about a two hour hike from the creek, but it was worth the trip. It was a snowy day as we hiked through the snow up the mountain. A light sprinkle came down on us as we came to the small pool of water, surrounded by rocks that were made smooth from the water. A steam rose up from the pool as snow landed on it's surface, the small snowflakes melting immediately. I looked to Oscar who seemed fascinated by the natural phenomenon.

I smiled as I thought came to mind, and so while Oscar had his back turned to me, I went over and gave him a good shove. I heard an audible gasp before he hit the water and went under, splashing me in the process. Steam rose from my crystals as the warm water hit the ice cold gems. I chuckled as Oscar came back to the surface and looked up at me with glaring eyes like he was trying to burn a hole in my head. It took a few moments for me to stop laughing, and a few splashes from Oscar, but when I was done, I jumped in with him, splashing him. A big cloud of steam rose from the water as I went under. The pool was not deep, but the bottom was pretty slippery.

The pool was not deep, allowing us to stand so the water was just at our bellies. I came back up above the surface to a startled and awed Oscar. Before I even had a chance to ask why he had that look on his face, he was next to me poking at my crystals and inspecting my fur. "How are your crystals still as cold as ice...?" I laughed as he poked around and investigated. "And your marking... the swirls in your fur are gone...?" I sat there amused for almost the rest of the time there, as Oscar looked confused and curious about the strangeness of my fur and crystals.

On our way home, I only told him one thing. "Now you know why my name is Tsuyakeshi." I smiled smugly as we made our way back down the mountain and to the creek where we went our separate ways. He went back to his little tribe or clan, and I went back to the cave that I called home, where I smiled happily over the day's events for the rest of the evening.
